More golden quotes
I use and SU-8 crew 90% and I hit on a stoppped tank with target depending on the angle so sometimes I put it on different part of the tank, I only hit around 35% of the time a little more if its closer . On a parked tank with my rounds costing me 1k per shot on some winning missions I only break even on credits. In a city missions the SU-8 is pretty much worthless. The charging scout kills me more than anything ingame, my arty is to slow and to big to manuever at all. Arty OP Not!
On 35% on average. no biggie.
I think what some people forget to mention is that most of the time, the top tier arty will NOT hit for anything close to its max damage, infact on average im willing to bet tanks like the 704/T30/T95 etc all hit harder. One of the main things people seem to cry about is getting one shotted and then using this to " prove " arty is OP, well guess what, Ive been one shot in my AMX50 by a VK2801, does that make the VK2801 OP ??
Yes, because there really is a difference between artillery hitting you for 1200 compared to 2250 and still taking out half your modules. This guy has the right idea
Obvious advice is obvious (in response to generic cover comment), and misses a very down-to-earth (re: the stuff you see going on in your SatCom Viewfinder) reality that makes people get shot by arty: You can drive the terrain and put yourself in a position to win the match, or be safe from arty, but not both. In other words, it's literally a different game with too much arty. Played to a painful, syncopated rhythm, with long periods of camping and dreadlock (after huddling up or rushing to all the obvious arty-safe spots) punctuated by brief periods of mass chaos, ultraviolence and "rounds out." It exaggerates blowouts way more than it has every given a weaker or shorthanded team the tools needed to stave off defeat and mount a comeback and turns World of Tanks into a game that would make a 13F Fire Support Specialist cream his pants, and not a 19K -- a tanker.
I have an arty because its fun, its definitely not the only thing i play but i like to experience the game as a whole. and i like to think i'm pretty good at it Ive saved many of my teammates lives, and been saved by arty.

But you are literally worse than Hitler.

Artillery is fine, with the exception of tier 7 and 8's, or where there are more than 3 a side.
i am inclined to agree, arty has saved me or my friends many times. as many have said over the years, artillery is fine as long as it's 1-2 spgs a side.
If you have 1-2 SPGs per team and they are both not complete retards (IE: shoot when you are facehugging someone) they can be really helpful, yeah.
I don't mean any offense or trying to be personal or anything, and hope that you don't feel marginalized by what I'm about to say. Artillery is completely fine as long as the people playing them play the way WG intended, or I think they intended, which is to hammer tough targets and generally not be a complete liability to the team. Ergo, artillery is always useless. I won't knock you if you think it's fun to play, but it's absolute bullshit for everyone else. [editline]2nd October 2012[/editline] Hell maybe they wanted arty to be like this. WG could be staffed by sadistic fucks for all I know

Gives your team a huge advantage.
You should always counterbattery as an arty early in the match, if you see the enemies are moving after firing just move on to the big ass targets (the IS-7, not the poor little KV-1S with the stock gun). This way, you won't be annoying as hell to your enemies and you'll be useful to your team.
I guess i should have said i wont shoot at enemy arty if some one is about to kill them

They are and should always be a priority target. When I play GW, if I see enemy arty it's getting airmail as soon as I can get it in the barrel. And yeah, I too have been tked many times by arty. In fact, I've probably died because of friendly arty more times than all other TK incidences combined. Most arty players have no idea how to actually play tanks on the ground and expect damn miracles. Many will also fire into danger close situations even when they have to fire past/over your tank to do so, which is ALWAYS a bad idea.
I love playing the tracker with T20 on higher tier matches.
The fact that killing the enemy arty is more valuable than several thousand points of damage to the enemy's toughest tanks is indicative of a fundamental problem with arty as a game mechanic
While we're on the topic of arty, my hummel crew just got 100%, what should i train them in? Brothers in arms?
The fact that killing the enemy arty is more valuable than several thousand points of damage to the enemy's toughest tanks is indicative of a fundamental problem with arty as a game mechanic
I am glad you see it that way, because most of the WoT fanboys on the forums disagree.
Alrighty, I am almost done with my T-150. Should I sell it and buy a KV-3 or an IS?
Alrighty, I am almost done with my T-150. Should I sell it and buy a KV-3 or an IS?
Damn hard decision but i enjoyed the IS more due to it's mobility, kv-3 is armor
Alrighty, I am almost done with my T-150. Should I sell it and buy a KV-3 or an IS?
Kv-3 if you enjoy being a slow steel wall with a powerful gun. IS if you like an agile peek-a-boo tank with a powerful gun.
The 11000 or so exp to get the tracks and turret on the 3001p is probably the worst grind I've ever endured. Getting only the 75 L/48 on a tank that gets in tier 8 battles constantly is worse than the holocaust.
