Playing artillery really is only good for CW otherwise it is extremely boring and unneeded. However, there was one time where me, Eli, and Valdor platooned and high tier arty to ruin people's days and guess what, Valdor was able to one shot a full health T110E3. Arty really is unbalanced and outside of CW, it is a terrible aspect of the game.
I can't play artillery, It just feels boring to me.
Where's the action in just shooting at targets in satellite view? Let me get into the action and bust some heads!
The game would be pretty boring without artillery. Tanks would just be sitting in the same spot for hours throwing shells back and forth. Light tanks would also be even less useful in higher tier matches.
Scouts aren't just for suicide rushing the enemy base to scout for artillery, infact that's a massive waste of a scout. Instead, a good scout will position themselves between their tanks and where the enemy tanks are expected to be (or in a good vantage point where the enemy tanks will be spotted within range of teammate's guns) as to light the enemy tanks for their teammates (which allows the scout's team to engage the enemy beyond the max spotting range in the game).
As for tanks just camping without artillery, what do you think tanks do when there is artillery? Roll across the open field to avoid being hit? Or, do they cower behind buildings even more because good artillery can often hit scouts going full speed in erratic directions, let alone a lumbering heavy tank?
Even if artillery did remove camping, in no artillery games tanks would still be able to advance and penetrate one another, so battles wouldn't be going on for hours, they would simply be more interesting and not so much would revolve around if the artillery in the match was looking at that particular battle.
I just love it when I manage to nail a Tier 8 american tank with a 203mm AP shell, killing it instantly, safely from my cozy vantage point.

There is a special place in lowest hell for artillery users
Satan's asshole

I agree, but I count myself as exempt as I aknowledge that the game would be better without artillery, or at least taking away sattelite vision, making them only able to fire at spotted targets through the minimap.
Is this the standard pattern of this thread?
Arty pictures > Arty flames > Arty Debate
Behold, the destroyer of balance.

Sometimes it goes into national debate and occasionally mass debating.
It's 100 fair that artilleru gets half XP,it makes leveling artys a challenge

That is one funky ass looking tank.
It looks like they badly realised it from that single available photograph of the prototype.
I still want it though.
christ that tank looks like something made in gmod

It kinda looks like they modeled it off the 183mm version since the 133mm didnt have a bore evacuator.
Also, dat mantlet.
I guess since its got a rather silly design with a rear turret and no depression they might not nerf the gun too much.
Does that version pack an autoloader?

Actually fairly accurate, although they didn't need to place the turret so far back. That was because of the length and weight of the 183mm, not the 133mm.

No. It's not even the 183mm so an autoloader would not be required.

It didn't have a autoloader like the french tanks, it had more of a loading assister since the 183mm shells tended to be pretty heavy.

Unless they plan on making another E-100.
please no.
If they put the tiny turret in the middle it'll look like some funky futuristic Churchill.
A leopard and a M3 will kill each other if they ram at top speed.

First thought is, are you serious, world of tanks for historical accuracy?
So I follow the link and find that my post was the one they sourced. I'm ok with this.

Can anyone guess what this tank is?

Looks like a Centurion chassis with a 120mm gun stuck in a poorly made superstructure.
[editline]9th October 2012[/editline]
Scratch that, it's a Chieftain chassis.
I'm not good at British tanks :(

Apparently the mantle is something like 350mm+ at minimum.

I can't believe they are even considering the FCM F1

So happy the conqueror and FV215b are getting the skirts.
What the fuck is it with T26E4's absorbing/bouncing all my rounds? Sick to death of it
Spaced armour.
Even on the hull?
Even on the hull?
Front hull is precisely where the spaced plate is.
Even on the hull?
Well duh, the upper and lower hull both have spaced armor and can absorb pretty much anything. Aim for the top of the turret above the turret's spaced plate, the cupola/dongles there are a big weakspot.
What the fuck is it with T26E4's absorbing/bouncing all my rounds? Sick to death of it
Just shoot the:
Gunsprings (No hitbox, but leads to the 60-80mm cupolas.)
Turret Ring/Under Gun-Above Hull (120mm-ish?)
Side/Back/Side-of-Turret (All 80mm or far less.)
I know someone posted alot of pictures of new tank icons, heres a page with them on and possibly some more.
