So, during match - it finally hit me why I didn't mind X heavies but these new X TDs/MBTs are annoying the shit out of me.
Sans the E-100's 150mm, all the X heavies had guns from IX tanks.
Maus and E-100 had the E-75/VK4502P's 128mm.
IS-7 has the old IS-4's 130mm.
IS-4 has the ST-I/IS-8's top 122mm.
T110E5 has the M103's top 120mm.
AMX50B has the AMX 50 120's 120mm.
The X heavies weren't firepower upgrades - they were just durability and armor. Which is good.
The new X TD/MBTs have rediculiously high-pen guns. And the mediums have amazing damage as well, even ousting the German long 105mm. Not to mention, the mediums now have 260-290mm pen and the TDs all have roughly 300mm pen.
The X heavies, which are at a rough 240-260mm, which can still be bounced by smart IX heavy drivers.
The new X TD/MBTs can now all effortlessly pen all IXs frontally, save T95 at medium/long range.
I'm left asking why I ever bothered going up heavy lines. If my IX tanks will see Xs 2/3 matches - I should just go down medium or TD lines now since they're obviously the superior ones. :v:
[sp]That said, the race to get the T110E3 is on.[/sp]

It's pretty simple.
Heavies have been obsoleted by the things that rendered them obsolete in real life, MBTs
WG Took one step to far forward and now the role of heavy tanks has been reduced to a being a large shell magnet
they COULD be used to bog an advance down with their large amounts of health, but since arty is so accurate it pretty much robs heavies of that health advantage, TDs also do this but they have to have LOS on you to do it and can't be bolts from god.
So there is literally nothing that can stop a Tier 10 medium attack once it gets going, and anything that could slow them down arty renders combat ineffective in about a second after they encounter it.

Had a chat with guys in the clan and most agreed that Tier 10 mediums are much better than the Tier 10 heavys because of the same reason you just said.
That sounds kinda silly, why don't the heavies have the biggest guns? Would make sense in my opinion to make heavies rolling big threats with good armor and slow but sillygood guns. If mediums can just pen anything what's the point in heavies?
WoT is already a game that balances between realism and gameplay, but making heavies obsolete because of mediums did that in irl does not sound like a good move design-wise.

Problem is, we're too dug in now. I seriously doubt Wargaming will see the flaw in this and ever remove/harshly-rebalance them. I'm half ready to sell my E-75, ST-I and VK4502A to just solely focus on medium/TDs now.
My E-75 alone can now be frontally penetrated by every new medium X (the frontal transmission dealio ensures that no matter where I'm hit, I'll receive engine damage too.) The ST-I only fares a little better.
I can see it now, clan wars being reduced to M43A1s and T110E4s with some artillery on the side. :v:
The Lakeville in 8.0 Preview video is sexy as fuck. Looks like they fixed up some of the physics from earlier versions a bit, too. I hope they keep their promises about 8.0.

it was probably unintentional but this is what happens when you put these two types of tanks together.
The one thing to worry about right now is that the new mediums aren't that shockingly fast, with the exception of the BatChat which can't turn for shit.
This will change once the AMX-"HELL ON TREADS" 30 gets implemented and we have a medium tank that gets up to 65 km/h and has a fast shooting 105 with out an auto loader but with Patton accuracy Zipping around the field.

in large packs that swoop over every flank these things are gonna rip everything to shreds.
DQ'd from Ural steel because we brought 1 t2 light instead of 2 t1s in our first round
Nevermind that we fucking raped them the next two, or that the first round we had someone crash who also couldn't get back in.
Fuck WG

WoT is volatile. I mean it's volatile in a lot of ways (You want to have fun but WoT does not!), but naturally it's also volatile on the development level too. They have to make everything new better than everything old so people continue to throw their money at them.

But it's French so it'll be balanced. And by that I mean people won't flock to it like they'll flock to the T-62A and M48.
I'll be basking in its glory though :)

Grinding three artillery lines, what am I doing?
So, I modified my BT-7 to go lightning fast.
By lightning fast I mean averaging 58km/h + up a hill. Which I think is fast enough.
I ended up dodging everything on a map that was very much open, taking shit from nobody.
Not a scratch, I made it to where they had their SPGs sitting and I blew up a small tank for the
hell of it.
Grinding three artillery lines, what am I doing?
grind my tanks pls
:3
but in all reality you're insane, I tried to grind Soviet arty and almost killed myself.

Your service will be honored.
300k more until i can buy T25 AT

BT-7 is fun as hell unlike the A-20 because it has the acceleration of a drag car and okay matchmaking
(Although it has the turning radius of one too)
I fucking hate that i get into shit teams with my panther 2 because its such a nice tank and i have a lot of fun when playing it.
Well at least there is still the British for heavies if this power creep keeps up. The chieftain prototype is looking pretty good at this rate.

Amen.
My shiny new IS-7 feels like a joke when I up getting shot by a TD, arty or a few Mediums. ;|
I don't mind the new tanks, the IS-8 got penetrated by anything anyway so a few more tanks to the list is not so bad, and i'm still pretty sure the phantom side armour still absorbs any round.
Why do I still play this, why...
