Maybe I should have asked if it's worth it to buy SR 1 once you own SR 2. Is it?
No probably not.
Maybe I should have asked if it's worth it to buy SR 1 once you own SR 2. Is it?
I had some fun with SR1, and I only played it recently after completing SR2 multiple times. There are some interesting missions in SR1 and I like the gangs, but everything else like the customization, activities, vehicles, world, etc just seemed like a crappy alpha version of SR2. So yeah, it was worth it to me to play through once just to see the story, but I'll never touch it again after that.
Saints Row 1 had the better soundtrack, imo.
Saints Row 1 had the better soundtrack, imo.
Really? Because I think it would be hard to beat the game that has "Take On Me", "Land Down Under", AND "The Final Countdown" all on the same radio station.
Really? Because I think it would be hard to beat the game that has "Take On Me", "Land Down Under", AND "The Final Countdown" all on the same radio station.
Ah yes, what I meant to say was that SR1 had a better rock/punk selection. The sequel beats it on every other musical front though.
Saints Row 1 had the better soundtrack, imo.
It honestly, truly did.
The only good songs in Saints Row 2, in my opinion, were on the Mix. It was the only station I listened to.
I'm gonna buy this game, only fifteen bucks. no. 2, that is. [editline]7th December 2010[/editline] Argh I want APB Reloaded to be out so fucking much.
I kinda like the graphics better in SR1 then SR2.
ufo is best. also peewee [editline]6th December 2010[/editline]
The only good songs in Saints Row 2, in my opinion, were on the Mix. It was the only station I listened to.
i cant number how many times i listened to the final countdown
The only good songs in Saints Row 2, in my opinion, were on the Mix. It was the only station I listened to.
Songs that I used: I luv it Hands Up Final Countdown Karma Chameleon Wants to rule the World Final Countdown used most of the time.
I kinda like the graphics better in SR1 then SR2.
This, definitely this. I don't know why, I just preferred the graphical style in SR1. Looked more unique.
just finished downloading YAY. [editline]8th December 2010[/editline] Well that's just fucking bullshit. whenever I try and start it it just crashes. [editline]8th December 2010[/editline] nothing shows up, just SR_2 has stopped working or whatever.

For some people it needs to startup windowed first to create the settings.dat. Give this a try: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1268028
Is there anyway on the PC version to get unlimited respect without having to earn it?
Is there anyway on the PC version to get unlimited respect without having to earn it?
The open version of Gentlemen of the Row gives like x1000 respect just for driving on the wrong side of the road. You can max your respect bar in a matter of minutes: http://idolninja.com/sr2.php
Thank you very much! I was actually thinking that the Gentlemen's mod might do that. I will keep that in mind for when I buy it.
thanks for that, but the game fixed itself, seemed to be a problem with multiple monitors. damn this game is like my girlfriend. [editline]8th December 2010[/editline] also, how do I install the Gentlemen of the Row mod?
Easy. Just download it from my site http://idolninja.com/sr2.php and extract patch.vpp_pc, preload.tbl, and preload_anim.tbl into your install folder where the exe is (sr2_pc.exe.) If you use a 360 controller and grabbed the 360 onscreen version, then you'll also need to run the included batch file which will copy input.bin to your saves directory. That file is just a keyboard mapping file so that the tilesheet for the 360 icons will match up correctly onscreen. The instructions for install are included in the readme as well.

[editline]8th December 2010[/editline] this game has some kickass songs.
do any of your tools stop the game from running and stuttering like utter shit?
It's not working, I go in, there's no new clothes, no new cars or anything changed, whats up with that? [editline]8th December 2010[/editline] except for the fact that my knife is now a pirate hook.

How much respect do you get if you do the activities on GotR?
if somebody playing online on PC, I'm in :D
It's not working, I go in, there's no new clothes, no new cars or anything changed, whats up with that? [editline]8th December 2010[/editline] except for the fact that my knife is now a pirate hook.
Are you absolutely sure about that? If you're seeing that hook, that means you installed it correctly. The new clothes are spread out all over the place. A lot of them wound up in Let's Pretend at the mall, but each store has something new. There are 4 new vehicle dealerships available. Did you visit them? Even Foreign Power, Cycles, and Ship It have additional vehicles though, as opposed to the 2-4 vehicles in vanilla. Try Sparrow Aircraft at the Airport. It's just down the way a bit from the crib there. Also, a lot of the new outfits and weapons are not for sale, but unlock by doing activities and missions. If you want everything available at the start for $1 each, then just use the open version instead of standard. The open version is like a freebie cheat version, as opposed to the regular version where you have to earn everything.
Have you changed any of the Barnstorming achievements?
do any of your tools stop the game from running and stuttering like utter shit?
You need a pretty beefy rig to run SR2 well, but there are ways to help the stuttering if you have the specs (most importantly 4+Gb RAM and a fast hard drive.) It would also help if you list your specs. http://community.saintsrow.com/forums/topic/43379 The Powertools will also help stabilize performance in addition to fixing speedup issues. It also works on Vista as well Windows 7: http://saintsrowpowertools.com [editline]7th December 2010[/editline]
Have you changed any of the Barnstorming achievements?
There are no achievements in the PC version. In fact, Barnstorming doesn't give you anything at all in vanilla. New unlockables have been added to Barnstorming in GotR though: 5 Barnstorms Unlimited Fire Extinguisher ammo 10 Barnstorms Unlimited Flamethrower ammo 20 Barnstorms Unlimited Minigun ammo 30 Barnstorms Unlimited Rockets ammo 35 (all) Barnstorms Unlimited thrown ammo [editline]7th December 2010[/editline]
A reason to get a new computer and SR2 PC. How much respect do you get if you do the activities on GotR?
In the original game, you would earn 5000 respect for completing level 1 of an activity and 10,000 respect for level 6. In the original game, you would earn .2 respect per meter for the oncoming traffic diversion. In GotR Open, you earn 500,000 respect per meter for oncoming. Basically, if you get a couple of stars in oncoming traffic it fills your respect bar to infinite. Keep in mind that the purpose of the open version is to basically open up everything to you immediately, like all weapons for sale immediately, everything costs $1, etc. The regular version makes you earn everything just like vanilla if you like that kind of thing.
5 Barnstorms Unlimited Fire Extinguisher ammo 10 Barnstorms Unlimited Flamethrower ammo 20 Barnstorms Unlimited Minigun ammo 30 Barnstorms Unlimited Rockets ammo 35 (all) Barnstorms Unlimited thrown ammo.
Hrnng. Those are going to be hard as fuck to do. But it's well worth it. I've got a previous version of GOTR. When the new one comes out. Will I need to start over?
Hrnng. Those are going to be hard as fuck to do. But it's well worth it. I've got a previous version of GOTR. When the new one comes out. Will I need to start over?
You shouldn't need to start over. You should be able to upgrade and continue on. I think there are three unlockables you might miss out on though since I had to do some juggling of old ones to make them work. * The Luz homie unlocks at Hotel and Marina Drug Trafficking level 6, so if you've already done that activity on your save then you can't get her. * The Carlos homie unlocks for one of the new custom missions, but it had to use the old Medical heli unlock from the Ronin mission Bleeding Out. So, if you've done that mission then then the unlock can't process. * The Aisha homie also unlocks for one of the new missions, but had to reuse the unlock from the Brotherhood mission Jailbait. I wish I could have done them as new unlocks, but any additional unlocks to the 50+ ones we added cause the game to crash. It's a common issue with modding sr2. For example, we could only add 3 new weapons before the game started to crash, so all the new ones you see in game had to replace unused existing entries to make them work. Same deal with cribs, clothes, vehicles, coordinate entries, etc. Almost every single part of the game has been completely maxed with no way to add additional stuff (at this time.) Modding SR2 is like trying to cram as much crap as we can into a box that's 3 sizes too small. It's actually pretty amazing that we were able to fit as much as we could into the mod despite all the limitations.

I also noticed last time I was playing through on CooP. When we would do activities, I would unlock them, and my friend wouldn't. I'm not sure if that's a GoTR bug or just from normal SR2.
