Penumbra wasn't scary in the slightest.
Or at least, not the feeware one or Overture.
Maybe this? Never tried it myself

At the moment I'm waiting for Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Oh god, YES.
I've pre-ordered it, can't wait until release, gonna make LP of it as soon as it hits the [del]shelves[/del] my mail.
Uhhhh, Fatal Frame?
Resident Evil 2 (best RE game imo))
Amen.
No RE game after that was good enough to be called a horror game again. RE3 might be ok aswell, but after that...
That police station still haunts me like an old 'Nam hero remembering the old days...
Limbo of the Lost.
Everything is scary about it.

Black Plague (the second one) is easily 4x worse than Overture.
I would recommend it.

You're obviously dumb because the only time to consider Resident Evil not survival horror was after RE4...

How dare you?
Resident Evil 4 was great, still is.
Though, I do agree that Resident Evil 5 was not so good, but still good enough to be called a Resident Evil game.
Resident Evil 4 and 5 are FAR from horror games.
Stalker.
Some scary shit happened in X18.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Oh heavens! I seem to have forgotten the word survival there! I'm automatically dumb!

Count all the times the game ever gave you a scare.
I can never call it survival horror again because of what it was turned into...
Survival Horror. :/
They should put the actual zombies in again. Enough with this parasitic crap!
:barf:
Survival Horror. :/
Survival Horror and Horror are relative terms.

That wasn't my point. I just call it Survival Horror.

Well I never played RE3, hence why I said it might be ok. Which it should really be since it still has the same essence from the old ones.
Don't have the slightest idea after those, but I guess they are good aswell, as long as they still have the classical zombies, and not chainsaw flinging Mr. Parasites
Yeah, what I was meaning is that there were A LOT of non-RE4 like Resident Evil games after RE2
I haven't played FEAR yet. I hear it's good, but I just haven't tried it.
FEAR just came on steam for a very low price. Check it out.
How about Dead Rising?

Horror games don't necessarily mean they SCARE you.
It's a genre, doesn't mean it HAS to scare you.
For example; "The Ring", it didn't scare me, but does that mean it's not horror?
Anyway, on topic;
Definitely should play the Penumbra series, very good games.
The people who made it are currently making another one like it; http://www.amnesiagame.com/
Should keep an eye on that.
The penumbra games always scared me.
The penumbra games always scared me.
Overture wasn't overly scary, but when I started Black Plague... I shat pants.
Still haven't finished it in fear of a heart attack. :/

I HAD to finish it and i did. It's really fucking creepy.
I HAD to finish it and i did. It's really fucking creepy.
Me and my mate play it whenever he comes over, nothing like Penumbra in a dark room with sound on high. :ohdear:
I'll finish it eventually.
(maybe)
I HAD to finish it and i did. It's really fucking creepy.
Best part of overture, [sp]had to be the end when you see a "person" at the end of a long hall, the lights go out, then you fall unconscious.[/sp]
The AI was really awesome, but I meant the actual shooting mechanics. They were clunky and flawed.
Also, a lot of the AI stuff was pretty much semi-scripted so it seems way less impressive on a second play through.
Are you one of the people who play it for the first 10 minutes until your gun jams and then you turn it off? Shooting gets better as you get better guns.
