signer # 24, although I probably buy it sometime after the release
I loved crysis 1 for dicking about. It was one of those great "Go and fuck shit up" games. Yeah, sure, I could just have gone stealth mode and killed every enemy easily, but it was so much fun driving a jeep off a ramp into a shack that then got crushed, jumping out, picking up a can or a shelf, throwing it at enemies and then speeding over to the OTHER shack with speed mode and doing the same thing.
And besides, it was non-linear if not free-roam and, nowadays, it's rare to even see something that isn't "CORIDOOR - CUTSCENE - CORIDOOR - CUTSCENE" At least crysis was more "A few different camps you can go to like whenever, just complete the objective at some point and we'll move you on to the next cutscene"
Even if it did suck when the aliens showed up...
And I enjoyed it for the opposite reason. I would spend hours roaming the scenic maps while listening to the great ambient sounds, taking in the scenery and taking out as many Koreans as I could without them being alerted to my presence. Add in some soothing music every now and then and it was very relaxing.
Righto, contacted Kotaku and The Escapist. We'll see what comes of that.
Awesome, thanks.
innovative? are you serious? Crysis is a generic shooter, the only innovative thing are the graphics which don't matter much and the suit
other than those 2 things, it's got nothing more amazing than any other shooter out there, oh wow aliens and korean how original
It was a linear story-open world game. I think that's innovative.
I'll probably end up buying 2 copies. One for the 360, one for the PC. The private beta was fucking cool on the 360 and I'll probably get the PC version for the sandbox.
oh my god I just took a huge dump and it felt great
(User was banned for this post ("How is this related to the thread?" - Orkel))
So does anyone know if they're going to still have a PC beta or not?

What PC Beta? MP Demo for PC Yes.

Is it before the official release? It better be.

Of course, yes. Before official release.

Meh. I didn't really like Crysis, so I didn't even pay much attention to the leak. Of course, I agree with the sentiment "if you download the leak, you ought to buy the game when it's out", but I can't sign since I don't actually plan to buy a copy.
1) no, you're still barreled down a path with the option to go more left or more right
2) that's true to an extent, although at some parts it's a lot harder to do what you'd like to do so you might have to do it another (this also isn't innovative though because other games do have this and sometimes better)
3) graphics, like i said, were innovative now they are nothing really that new and the sounds really aren't that amazing
4) also true i forgot about that
however, Crysis is still a generic shooter, you go from point A to point B and shoot people along the way and every game has it's own little twist on how you get there
that aside, i never said it's a bad game, i actually enjoyed it and i'm sure Crysis 2 isn't a bad, but it's not some amazing game and it's not the first game to ever be leaked and pirated and it won't be the last, so it's stupid to make such a huge deal out of it
Explain a non generic shooter without describing an RPG or Adventure game.

I will take Aliens and Koreans over grey everything and Russians any day.
Bloody screen. So real.
Portal is a generic shooter by that definition: you just get from point A to B, shooting things along the way, with a little twist on how you get there.
portal isn't a shooter, it's a puzzle solving game

i don't really see how CoD plays into this?
Internet petitions.
Be it a noble cause, still. Internet petitions.
Actually internet petitions worked in Canada to stop the usage based billing legislation that was being passed. Mostly because every single signature sent an email to the government but the idea is the same thing.
People who bash internet petitions now just want to feel :coolfrog: and are now behind the curve. The internet is widely recognized and accepted. Deal with it.

You're complaining about how generic Crysis is while you have a COD:BLOPS prestige insignia as your avatar

You're talking about generic shooters. The last 3/4 CoD games have all been the same shit.

they sure have, so what? i never said they weren't
they sure have, so what? i never said they weren't
SOOOO thread related, you asked why they played into this and I gave you an example of a 'generic shooter' which you deemed Crysis 2 as being.
I like how this devolved into CoD is generic with Steve being the person who derailed this page.
portal isn't a shooter, it's a puzzle solving game
Yes but by your definition GTA is just a linear and unoriginal. In GTA you can fuck around for hours, but in the end you still have to complete mission A and the mission B with no change in their content or results. Crysis is exactly the same in that regard. You have your objective but you can fuck around on the map for as long as you want. Obviously the scope of the game is more limited, but that's because that's how the game is. In fact Crysis may be A to B gameplay, but the level design of the first game was so brilliant and fun to play on, I'd much rather the game be linear with big explorable maps than fully open world.

but what does that have to do with me saying that there's no reason to make such a big fuss of the leak?
Crysis is pretty much unoriginal seeing as it's a sequel and the premise is you put bullets into enemies.
Generic because the environments don't look that good because like most games everything is browny.

in GTA you can do LOTS of side missions and little games and whatever else in addition to the main storyline, in Crysis you clear an area and then what? you can punch a wall out of a small building, can you go to the bar and play darts? can you jack a car and provoke a police chase? no, once you complete an area you move to the next and in GTA you don't HAVE to complete mission A to B, you can actually do stuff like play darts or make a date or go bowling
and? i like how it looks, so what?
So, you are telling me that you like the look of a disembodied human skull with some silver stars surrounding it?

it's a smiling skull with a red background and silver stars, ya it's pretty cool, why else would i use it when there are billions of other images to use?
