it's a smiling skull with a red background and silver stars, ya it's pretty cool, why else would i use it when there are billions of other images to use?
Skulls don't smile. Human anatomy 101.
Skulls don't smile. Human anatomy 101.
Faces smile :buddy:
Faces smile :buddy:
My face is sad. :frown:
I don't like signing internet petitions, not anymore, but I am sympathetic to this petition's cause.
Where is the petition for: "Dear Crytek, i am going to pirate this game, because one of your employees leaked it for us so that we can try it out before we buy the game. If it's shit i am not going to buy it, but if it's good i will."
Crysis is pretty much unoriginal seeing as it's a sequel and the premise is you put bullets into enemies. Generic because the environments don't look that good because like most games everything is browny.
I like the environments in it. It's refreshing, considering how most games take place in a boring desert.
Number 74.
That is the worst looking logo I've ever seen What are you from the 1960?
I would sign this, But I never had any plans to buy Crysis 2 OR PIRATE IT. I just don't care about it at all. Sucks that it was leaked though.
portal isn't a shooter, it's a puzzle solving game [editline]13th February 2011[/editline] never said there were any non-generic shooters on the market right now well other than Duke Nukem Forever :v: [editline]13th February 2011[/editline] i don't really see how CoD plays into this?
Well Duke Nukem Forever is probably going to be a bit of a less linear point a to point b kind of shooter.
in GTA you can do LOTS of side missions and little games and whatever else in addition to the main storyline, in Crysis you clear an area and then what? you can punch a wall out of a small building, can you go to the bar and play darts? can you jack a car and provoke a police chase? no, once you complete an area you move to the next and in GTA you don't HAVE to complete mission A to B, you can actually do stuff like play darts or make a date or go bowling
The thing is, GTA is a sandbox, while Crysis is more akin to Deus Ex or Arma 2. It's not total open-world freedom, but you're expected to decide for yourself how to complete your objectives.
Well Duke Nukem Forever is probably going to be a bit of a less linear point a to point b kind of shooter.
Off topic: Duke Nukem Forever is said to be just like shooters of the 90's with backtracking to find keys and all. On topic: Internet petitions rarely work, and some people may sign it and not even buy it.
I think Metro 2033's graphical advancements were much more realistic than Crysis'.

This is it. Fact is that this was an internal leak, but that is no excuse to download, enjoy, and never pay. Regardless of where the leak came from, EA and Crytek see this situation as another reason to neglect the PC as a relevant platform. They see this leak as proof that they should focus their attention on the console ecosystems. We must show them that a following gained on the PC platform is one that is enduring. This petition is less about Crysis, and more about demonstrating the qualities that make the PC platform the place to build a community.

The only reason Crytek would change their stance on the PC platform as a result of this internal leak is because they're looking for an excuse to drop the PC platform to rake in delicious DLC-ridden console money. "It's the pirates!" has been the age-old cry when a developer wants to stop taking the effort to develop on PC, even though not only do console games get pirated too, but PC sales still make up the majority of overall game sales.

Your initial claim is completely absurd, games are not leaked on consoles to the extent that they are on PC. That is just a fact that can not be argued against. Sure a game might leak on a console, but it doesn't spread across the user base in the same way it does on PC, and that is because the consoles are secure, and ultimately closed down ecosystems. Crytek started off as a PC developer with Far Cry, and they enjoyed a good deal of success with that title. Since then, we have shoved them far away from our platform. Crysis was pirated to death, and for that reason, they changed up their strategy with Crysis 2. And now, look what has happened once again. Put yourself in their shoes, and reconsider the situation.
While this probably leads to nothing, it feels good to do this. Number 116.

As for your second point, also horseshit. Crysis 1 sold abysmally because nobody could run it in 2007. They changed up their strategy with Crysis 2 because console development=guaranteed sales. No worrying about whether people can run it.

And the problem with Crysis 1 wasn't that it didn't sell and not many people wanted to play it. Crysis was one of THE MOST pirated games of all time. Why was it being pirated so much if people were unable to run the game?
From Wikipedia: "According to The simExchange, the NPD Group reported that Crysis moved 86,633 retail units in the first two weeks of its release in North America[32], but while it beat their expectations, the sales were considered overall disappointing.[33] Two months later, on Electronic Arts earnings conference of the quarter, it was reported that Crysis has reached the 1 million units mark, and that it has exceeded their expectations...On the other hand Cevat Yerli on an interview with PC Play in April 2008 stated that he was disappointed to see the game leading the charts in piracy and because of that his studio would not produce any more PC exclusives, as he believed a game such as Crysis would sell four to five times more copies if it was released on consoles." Yup, they're looking for an excuse. Sales are what they care about, not some loyalty to the PC platform.

If you really think that 1 pirated copy=1 lost sale, then you're even dumber than I thought. [editline]13th February 2011[/editline] My point is that your carebear internet petition will do nothing, because Crytek is basing their platform development decisions on how much money they can make. They're not your friends. As far back as Crysis 1 Yerli and his pals were already planning to ditch the PC platform because they could make more money by releasing on consoles.
'You are signer #127' Noble cause, has my support.
I can't sign the petition, but I'll be there in spirit. Not quite old enough to purchase M rated games on my own (still got half a year), but if I could, I would. I like Crysis, abhor piracy, and really don't want another developer to see the PC as a "high-risk market". The more developers that see us as a "high-risk market", the more people won't want to give us games. And that's bad. However, I will purchase Crysis 2 when possible. Maybe after Christmas.
It's a stupid initiative. People who pirate good games (and don't buy it later) are idiots. Idiots are going to be idiots. That said Im not going to download the leak, nor am I going to buy the game for quite a while, but thats mostly out of personal preference. I liked crysis 1 but it felt more like a tech demo than a game to me.

Answer me these two simple questions: 1) Why did they make Crysis a PC exclusive? 2) Why is it that they can make more money on console platforms?
