I do not care the this was leaked. I will not be purchasing Crysis 2 and would not own Crysis and Warhead had they not been given to me as gifts. No opinion on the game one way or the other really, but I hope you guys actually accomplish something with this.
You are signer #265
Yay :buddy:
- Crytek is not playing "favorites" with the consoles, it's just that we fucked them over in the short-term to the extent that they coudn't sustain themselves long enough on the PC platform to build a community. MY EVIDENCE http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/52457
I'm not gonna say that crytek are playing favourites with the consoles, but I will say this: Crysis sold incredibly well, despite the piracy problems and despite it being a PC exclusive. There were piracy problems, like most games, but it was still incredibly successful. That said, I'm not pretending PC sales would be anything close to console sales, nor am I saying that piracy is a big issue on consoles: It's not. All I'm saying is that Crytek moved to multiplatform development because of the increased audience and therefore revenue console development provided, not because the piracy rates on Crysis were so bad that it put them in some kind of financial trouble. Your 'evidence' is just Crytek bullshitting about why they're making games for multiple platforms now. Not that I have anything against them for that, it's certainly not up to the standard of hateful profiteering that goes on with the CoD series. I hope they still release their future games for PC though, I don't care about it being "Exclusive" as long as Crytek remain as a PC Developer along-side being a console dev.
I've never played Crysis, but I saw a video of the leak looks SEXY, so could someone point me to a download link for the demo of Crysis 1? [editline]14th February 2011[/editline] Or Torrent.
Yeah, no idea. You actually can see an alien at the very beginning of the game when you go parachuting. If you look to your right, you can see it steadily flying towards colliding with you. Putting on night-vision helps too.
I never noticed that. I just did a quick play of the beginning of the game just to see. Hell, with Night-Vision on you can see multiple little specks of light flying around the island that are probably aliens. That's pretty awesome.
Except the pirates didn't do anything, it was leaked internally. Like someone else said, it's like dropping money all over the streets and expecting people not to pick it up.
This is not a good analogy. It's more like if you had a pot of money that people contributed to, then ONE OF THEM took it and threw it in the street. That's no reason to "punish" the entire company, and by that logic piracy is OK regardless of whether the game was released or not. "It's there, why not steal it!?". Their best bet is to slap some Ubisoft-like DRM and exclusive content on it that will get some more people to buy it.
Signed.
Am I the only one that also liked the alien fights in Crysis? :saddowns:
Why is it generic? From my position, Crysis does several things that very few other games do: 1) First half of the game is populated with expansive, open-world environments that actually allow you to explore where you want. 2) It's one of the few games that says "play how you want" and actually means it. I could tear down the coastline with strength mode on and just wreck encampment after encampment, or I can indulge in sneaking about, spending a few hours per level just traversing the map, quietly taking out any resistance I can find. 3) The graphics are unparalleled, and the sound design is incredibly immersive. 4) Weapon customization on the fly is a concept that I honestly can't think of from any other shooters, and it leads to great tactical decision-making. The story is fairly generic, I'll grant you, but the actual design of the game is pretty damn unique.
Also the completely physics-oriented destructible environment, I always thought that was a nifty feature worth mentioning.
On a side note, is it just me or does regular Crysis run a thousand times better than warhead? I can run Crysis all very high DX10 without AA fine, but if I use those same settings in Warhead I get 10 fps. What's up with that? Also, is anyone else re-playing Crysis for nostalgia sake?
Well, I just got Crysis and Warhead and I can run Crysis on high settings without AA pretty fine. Have to check out Warhead soon too.
Also the completely physics-oriented destructible environment, I always thought that was a nifty feature worth mentioning.
Ah, how many trees I've already shot and/or knocked down in strength mode. Not as much fun as sneaking up behind enemies, going into strength mode and meleeing them though, that always gives me giggles.
I wont put my name there. I WILL, however, surely buy the game as soon as it comes out and I have money.
God, FP and it's army of white knights Not to mention it's stupid mentality, this whole thing was someone in Crytek's fault You can't expect people to not make use of this, not to mention I bet a HUGE majority of FP downloaded this and then complained about the pirates
Being a white knight is blindly defending someone for no reason. People are against piracy for a reason, and it's because Crytek is one of the only developers that respect the PC platform.
works both ways I'm afraid
Because we dont care about Crysis appreciation in a Crysis appreciation thread

"Confront an ancient alien terror to save mankind from extinction" There's also a picture of a hunter.
If it wasnt for the leak. I wouldnt even of thought of pre ordering Crysis 2.
Posted on Reddit Expect a flood of signatures if it takes off
I'm sure Crytek isn't losing very much money because of this leak. The majority of the sales will come from console gamers.
Crytek are going to lose plenty of sales from this, presumably from people who take advantage of it being free, or those who plan to test it to see if they like it and if they don't (which is fairly possible because it's a beta build) won't buy it, and will maybe even go to tell their hurrrr buddies how bad it is, and so forth. Anywho, signed it.
Signed. Deffinately going to buy it as soon as possible.
I bought it before this topic even existed. Am I helping now?
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/107763-PC-Gamers-Launch-Crysis-2-Petition *smiles*
Awesome man. 632 signatures and counting!
Another article, hey guys! We're making news happen :). http://www.strategyinformer.com/news/11018/gamers-pledging-to-buy-crysis-2-pc
As if pirates are gonna care about some petition. They'll probably take this as a joke and just download even More pirated games! When you've got torrent sites that tap into every site it possibly can to get the most torrents, how can anyone really expect to stop it? It'll get worse before it gets better. And not to forget the people that upload all that stuff. Good luck trying to get them to sign that petition...
Hahahaha, oh wow....
WOW GUYS!!! MSNBC!!!!! http://ingame.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/02/15/6059046-pirates-leave-our-pc-game-alone
why crysis was one of the most unique, best designed, best looking shooters on the market even now, 3 years on, it is still among the best, mostly due to the industry's relentless emulation of CoD stemming any real progress
I just wasn't impressed beyond the physics, which weren't anything holy shit revolutionary, imo. It just didn't appeal to me at any point. Like I said, I hope you guys make an impression, and I hope everyone who signs the petition actually buys the PC version of Crysis 2.
Internet petitions. Be it a noble cause, still. Internet petitions.
Except it's a pledge, not a petition.
Yes we can!
