Gears of War Megathread V1: I'm coughing up blood that ain't even mine!

there's a map with a chicken on it, stick a frag to it and kick it at an enemy.
Some multiplayer tips for you guys:
- Use the Gnasher. While the Sawed-Off has more multikill potential and is easier to use, it's overall not an effective weapon due to it's small clip size. In addition, with the current argument involving the SOS (op or not?), the Gnasher seems to be more of a "skill" weapon.
- When choosing your primary, take the map and your skills into account. Are shotgun users killing you at every turn? Try out the Retro Lancer. Are long range enemies giving you trouble? Try the Hammerburst. Not having any issues, but want a balanced medium? Use the Lancer! Each weapon is great in it's own right.
- Don't charge in front of enemies with the Retro. This is how you die.
- Don't go for executions when there are swarms of enemies. Shoot enemies (Gnasher is great for this), or if you playing with Execution rules on, kick them. (Melee).
- "Buffer" your moves. Gears is a game that loves to take control from the player. Since you can still look around while you dive, take advantage of this during intense situations. This concept will be a lot easier if you're primarily a console gamer, or if you play a lot of fighting games. Action buffering helps a lot with shotgun play.
Hope I'm at least slightly helpful. I can post more if anyone wants some more tips.

I can also record some gameplay if anyone needs a visual aid.
Here's an important tip. If you see someone DBNO, FUCKING REVIVE THEM YOU DICK.
I was just downed behind cover NEXT TO FIVE PEOPLE and I wasn't revived. Jesus.
I got 99 problems but a grub ain't one.
Getting the onyx doorman medal by using the piano in chapter 1.

Also, completed Beast mode on Insane without failing. not as hard as you'd think.

I tried to res a teammate and I picked up a weapon instead, saw a guy running towards us with a double-barreled, I've never left anyone to die quicker than that.
I was DBNO twice in a wingman match, they didn't see me and I got up and survived.
One round I got back up and got like... 5 kills.

Stare at him and tap X. if you hold X, even for a bit, you'll grab ammo. Tap it and you'll revive him. That's the reason they implemented the whole "Hold X to pick up" thing.

Oh I know how, I was just not willing to die for him.
I can't help but think that GOW2 had a more exciting, fun campaign.
The characters were more lively and the level's were very unique in some places, whether it was in a grassy forest on some big ass truck thing or underground in the locust caves, or inside the guts of a worm, and it even portrayed more emotion, since I can't recall anything more heart wrenching than seeing Benjamin die, he said something along the lines of "mom, I love you", right?
god damnit, at least the gameplay in gow3 is better.
horde forever boyos :yarr:
I swear to god, if I get another game where four teammates go AFK, I'm going to fucking snap my disc. Why are people so goddamn dumb? I mean really.
Guys, I'n case you didn't know, the instagib mutator which says 200 wretch kills.
They mean your kills AS a wretch, not killing Wretches.
What title are you guys using? There are some cool ones.

There are a few things that confuse me as far as unlocking goes. And I'm kind of mad at myself for not playing the beta fully to unlock Cole Train since there is no other way to get it. Glad I got the Beta Tester title tho, at least it's something.

COG Killer, for completing Beast on Insane without failing.

He'll be DLC, I assure you. As will the Flame Skins.
You get the mega-badass Onyx Guard be getting to Rank 100 right? That's what I've heard anyway.

Pretty sure I unlocked the flame skins already. At least I have them for the Shotgun/Sawed Off, and Lancer/Retro/Hammerburst.
I was totally prepared for [sp]Dom's death, but when he said "Didn't think it'd end like this, huh, Mariah?"[/sp], it hit me hard. Just the tone of how it was said, man. ;_;
Also, I have an extra Mechanic Baird code if anyone wants to trade me for a Savage Kantus/Elite Grenadier code.

Onyx Guard is the first confirmed DLC character.

Also Bernie.

Beta Tester because I have no other good ones. :~(

COG Tease haha
I have COG bite but COG Tease is funnier.
Yeah to me i don't think he is, it's just an opinion of him.
He's one of my favorite characters, but I still think he's an asshole too.
Really, Gears is just full of plot holes and has a pretty terrible story to begin with. it's full of great ideas that no one ever bothered to flesh out.
I mean, come on. After the Lightmass Bomb went off in GoW1, Razorhail started happening (nuclear winter fallout). I know we only saw it at the research facility in GoW2, but it was so well known by the group I can only assume it was a reasonably common occurance. And yet people still build structures with no roof? what the fuck.
And now that I'm talking about the research facility, what's up with the Sires? I know Adam worked there, my GUESS is that it was some sort of holding facility where they could try and cure Imulsion from Locust, which clearly didn't work. But instead of exploring the science area of the story, which could have been great, they just ignored the whole thing and went with [sp]HERP DERP IMULSION LOL[/sp], which is ALSO fucking dumb. If Adam's [sp]magic[/sp] only targets [sp]Imulsion cells[/sp], then why is it that his giant [sp]bomb thing[/sp] didn't penetrate [sp]ravens[/sp] and instead [sp]his own[/sp] face took the majority of it? [sp]Ravens[/sp] use [sp]Imulsion[/sp] as fuel, and so do tanks and fucking everything else, it's the [sp]"miracle fuel[/sp]. I get the idea that it's a [sp]parasite[/sp], but that's not a valid reason for it to do what it did. Just [sp]lazy as fuck[/sp] storytelling.
I'm [sp]getting a bit[/sp] obnoxious with [sp]spoiler tags[/sp].
[sp]I'm pretty sure the immulsion didn't need to be alive to be used as a fuel source[/sp]

GOOD. I was wondering why the fuck you can play as Bernie in the campaign but not in multiplayer.

[sp]Barrick died though, how would they bring him back in a campaign dlc unless it's WAY back[/sp]

This is the same company that released $60 DLC on launch day. When has a linear story mattered?
What title are you guys using? There are some cool ones.
I switch between using Fortification Master and Member of the old guard.
You know, I think the Hammerburst should get a headshot multiplier. It had it in the beta and it would probably be even better against douchebags with shotguns, you can down them faster when they run at you like a moron.
Nothing is more satisfying to headshot some dumb bastard trying to bayonet charge you.

It seems like I'm the only one in my team who runs halfway across the map to revive someone.
