I just beat the campaign with my friend. Was anyone else happy that [sp]carmine lived? I thought it was pretty cool how he got a "Halo:Reach" like ending, with the helmet on the ground and everything.[/sp] Ive also been playing online a bit, I'm trying to enjoy it but I just cant. Nothing ever works out for me, and it seems everyone has more health and Damage. I try the retro charge someone, as I'm about one inch of away from getting the kill...they turn around and blow me away with their shotgun or chainsaw me. I'm chasing the last man standing on the other team, I shoot about half my clip of Active reloaded lancer, and he doesn't go down. Change the situation where I'm being chased, I go down on 3-5 hits with anything, full health. I'm in a shotgun duel with someone, I shot them point blank with the gnasher, they don't die. They shot me just as close with the gnasher, and I'm dead (or sometimes we both die. I never win in the end.). I'm almost always paired up with the WORST teammates, while the other team is obviously in a party and VERY organized, we get destroyed. I like the game but it sure as hell doesn't like me.
Super Reload is ridiculous, you get an Active Reload your weapon Magazine is double and with added really strong bullets that pretty much instant kill most things, only -25% EXP, oh no(!) [editline]28th September 2011[/editline] Oh and those damage bullets never go, only when you fire them off they do. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline] So you get an understanding of what the double capacity is like, how it shows up, for every two bullets you fire only one bullet goes off the little counter, the number counter still counts it as two, but you can fire twice as many bullets before reloading, and the damage bullets just put another layer of bullets over the current amount, and they have double bullets aswell, so it's best (In my opinion) to waste an entire Magazine then Active Reload, that way you've got strong bullets for a while. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline] Haha, just one thing after the other, the Damage bullets are infinite, they don't waste ammo but they do go away when you fire.
A future Gears of War 3 campaign DLC pack will not feature Marcus, Dom, Cole or Baird, according to Epic Games designer Cliff Bleszinski. Instead, the content will follow Michael Barrick, the star of the Gears of War comic series Hollow. Barrick is a former Stranded who enlists with the COG. The DLC marks the first time story-based Gears content will not follow our regular, tree-trunk-necked heroes. Responding to a suggestion on NeoGAF that Hollow was to form the basis of future Gears 3 DLC, Bleszinski wrote, “No, it won't be the graphic novel. But it will have all new campaign content that doesn't have Marcus, Dom, Cole and Baird in it. Expect Barrick and more..." While he was at it, Bleszinski also responded to accusations of poor writing in Gears 3. Beware, the following quotes contain some small things you may not be aware of yet. “I’m not going to defend our story here, those who love it and get it truly adore it," he said. "You can find plot holes in nearly anything, from Lord of the Rings to Dark Knight. Story, like any art, can be somewhat subjective and is easy to pick on. "The GAF crowd can be somewhat cynical. If you go to YouTube and look up many of the cutscenes deemed 'silly' or 'cheesy' on here the majority of the comments over there cite how the scenes moved them, made them misty eyed, or out and out made them cry. "And those of you citing Cole as some bad stereotype - guys, that's just Lester being Lester. We introduced Jace as a more laid back character as a contrast to Cole's enthusiasm (which, after playing his sequence, is his way of overcompensating for not being the centre of the universe and having to risk his neck for a can of beans now along with some aches and pains). "I believe we're getting better at storytelling with each effort and the critical consensus is that this is the best Gears narrative yet, and we'll keep doing better in the future. You can pick anything to shreds on the internet because you've got the time and balls afforded to you by a keyboard and monitor. " Bleszinski concluded by saying, "And no, we're not going to answer everything. Creatives often leave certain questions unanswered so they can answer them later or let the hive mind of the internet to figure it out. The Gearspedia has already solved a lot of these questions."
One of the confirmed first DLCs like a character is the Onyx Guard and someone else.
Onyx Guard and Bernie.
Anyone want to play sometime? My gamertag is acfan17. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline]
Onyx Guard and Bernie.
This is all we're getting? I want Kim and RAAM already so I can have my Gears 2 characters set up. But Hoffman will replace Kim when I get him, followed by Prescott. :3
Hammerburst isn't too great on most maps, in my opinion. Even if you catch a guy at long range with it, he can probably get into cover before you down him. It just kills too slowly to be very effective. [editline]27th September 2011[/editline] I mean whenever I see someone with a Hammerburst I think "Oh good free kill." because it's the only starting weapon that is useless at close range. It doesn't have the power of the Retro Lancer or the chainsaw bayonet, so you can rush a Hammerburst user without much fear.
"Kills too slowly" Um try tapping the trigger, not holding it. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline]
Anyone want to play sometime? My gamertag is acfan17. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline] This is all we're getting?
Anyone want to play sometime? My gamertag is acfan17.
I'm not at my Xbox right now, but add me anyway. GT right over there. <---
"Kills too slowly" Um try tapping the trigger, not holding it. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline] The DLC characters are Bernie, Onyx Guard, Barrick, RAAM, Skorge, and Kim
No no I know who we're getting but what I'm asking is will Epic release them all at the same time? I really hope they do as I'm saving 800 M$ for them. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline]
How do you do the arm rip execution
I don't think you can control which execution you do, but I'm pretty sure the arm rip is a locust-only execution. (I've never seen a Human do it.) I'm going to get on and play for a bit so friend me or whatever if you want me to join. GT is acfan17.
The DLC characters are Bernie, Onyx Guard, Barrick, RAAM, Skorge, and Kim
Not in that order though, Bernie and Onyx Guard, then Kim and RAAM, then Skorge and Barrick i think. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline]
I don't think you can control which execution you do...
You can based on the weapon you're using, you have to get 200 Kills with each weapon though to unlock the unique execution when having that weapon out.
How do you do the arm rip execution
Hold down the Y button and then keep tapping Y if you want extra XP. (If you don't tap it, you smack them twice then kill them.) Only works with Horde, if you're Cog then you punch them until they die. If you have weapon executions unlocked, though, if you have that weapon out and you hold Y, you'll do the weapon specific execution instead. personally I just kick them unless they're personally offended me like a nemesis or killed me with a mortar, then I rip their arms off. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline]
Not in that order though, Bernie and Onyx Guard, then Kim and RAAM, then Skorge and Barrick i think.
Almost. It's Bernie/Onyx, Barrick/RAAM, Skorge/Kim.
personally I just kick them unless they're personally offended me like a nemesis or killed me with a mortar, then I rip their arms off.
So far i like. The Retro Lancer execution, stab them in the chest then pull it out and continue to slice their head of with it. And the Gnasher execution, Golf Club their head off with the butt of the gun.
Almost. It's Bernie/Onyx, Barrick/RAAM, Skorge/Kim.
I thought it'd make more sense to release RAAM and Kim since RAAM killed Kim in Gears 1 right?
I enjoy the SoS execution.
I enjoy the SoS execution.
What is it? Haven't seen it yet.
IIRC from the beta, you uncock the shotgun, wrap it around the enemy's neck, and snap it.
Wow. Cliffy B is kind of a douche. Instead of just fessing up to obvious plot holes or bad dialogue that would make Bruce Campbell cringe, he goes "YEAH WELL EVERYTHING HAS FLAWS GUYS IT'S GOOD AND BY NOT ANSWERING QUESTIONS THAT IS A GOOD THING" why would you be leaving questions open for later installments if this is supposed to wrap up the trilogy? Why leave sequel hooks if this is the last game of the main series? It's just stupid, and it's obvious they're trying to squeeze people for money. Who the fuck is Barrick? He looks like a hobo who's been hitting the gym. I don't really want to play as him. Enough with the poorly shoehorned-in comic characters, please. I mean I'd be all for it if they were smoothly introduced and developed, but they aren't, and I doubt Barrick will be any different. I don't want to have to buy a Gears of War comic to know who I'm playing as or why he's acting how he's acting. Why don't we get DLC developing characters that were already in the game? What about Marcus's mom dying in the Hollows mysteriously? What about where Carmine went? What about Dom's classified commando days? Why is Epic dedicated to piling as many random characters into the game as they can, instead of just giving time and attention to the ones we actually want to see more of? It's just stupid, and isn't being handled well. They're going about the characters ass-backwards. They take characters that will probably be the most popular and either don't develop them at all, have this disappear randomly, or [sp]kill them in some cliche self-sacrifice scene[/sp] and instead dump a bunch of half-developed characters you have to read the books/comics to know about at all.
You must be blind because I'm pretty sure he said that he knew the game had lots of plotholes somewhere on his twitter.
I am blind because he released a statement denying any overbearing flaws with Gears of War 3, and is wrong. Okay.
He basically said he expects US to answer the story. Again, $60 DLC at release. Cliffy is a HUGE douchebag, don't get me wrong. But he's smart. Make a game everyone wants and we'll buy it even if the story is Terribad. I mean FFS, there isn't even a game manual. That should be an indication he's lazy. Probably wanted to roll it out before October when the gaming giants release.

It's just dumb, and he has an inflated ego. He was throwing a fit about people giving it an 8/10, but I think that's what it deserves. He insists that it improves from it's predecessors in every way but I disagree. The gameplay is better and Horde 2.0 and Beast are cool, but the story is a far cry from how it was in Gears of War 2, or even 3. The flood of DLC on release also hurts my opinion of it. I dislike games that squeeze extra money out of the fans right off the bat, it's just in bad taste.
I am blind because he released a statement denying any overbearing flaws with Gears of War 3, and is wrong. Okay.
All you read was the blind part then.. He said he knew the game had plotholes and they didn't answer them, you don't need to write a whole few paragraphs about what you've been saying the last few pages.
All you read was the blind part then.. He said he knew the game had plotholes and they didn't answer them, you don't need to write a whole few paragraphs about what you've been saying the last few pages.
Except he acknowledged them by saying they were as big of a deal as minor plot problems in movies like The Dark Knight and The Lord Of The Rings. That isn't acknowledging plot holes, that's saying the game is as good as The Dark Knight and The Lord Of The Rings. He also acted like we were in the wrong for wanting answers, and said we should answer them ourselves, even though that's moronic. He didn't really acknowledge problems, he said we were wrong for complaining about them. If you don't like what I'm saying about the game, don't read it. I paid sixty dollars for it, so I think I'm pretty entitled to complain about the plot I paid for if I feel like it.
Seriously, what the fuck happened to Marcus' mum in the hollows?
Cliffy B is a douchebag no matter how you look at it. (He's still a pretty cool guy though.) Now shut up. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline]
Seriously, what the fuck happened to Marcus' mum in the hollows?
Next Gears game sub-plot, calling it now.
Seriously, what the fuck happened to Marcus' mum in the hollows?
[sp]She's Myrrah, obviously.[/sp]
[sp]She's Myrrah, obviously.[/sp]
That would be interesting, but it's not really implied. You'd think Adam Fenix would bring that up, or Myrrah would try to stop Adam with more than "Adam! Stop!" [editline]28th September 2011[/editline] Plus I think Myrrah might reveal that to Marcus, if she wanted to, as kind of a gloating type thing.
She might have, but [sp] she kinda had a lung full of knife during her touching reunion with Marcus[/sp]
She might have, but [sp] she kinda had a lung full of knife during her touching reunion with Marcus[/sp]
Except all she was saying was "Ha ha you guys suck Adam sucks everyone sucks except me." I didn't really feel like she was going anywhere with it.

Who cares, we'll never know anyway.
We might find out in the next gears gammmmeee. :OOOO
