Gears of War Megathread V1: I'm coughing up blood that ain't even mine! - Games

This even has been pretty boring IMO :c

I don't get what the Halloween event is. I've played a game of everything since it went up, and I haven't seen anything special. I also only got one event badge even though I played the BoomSnipes playlist while the Halloween event was on, so it should have given me two, right? [editline]29th October 2011[/editline] I mean I already got my Golden Gear so it's not that big of a deal, but, the medals for playing events are worth a shitload of XP, and so I'd like to get as many events in as I can.

The Halloween event starts on Halloween, the event calendar definitely didn't make that clear. The Halloween event and BoomSnipes count as the same event.

Might be late, but the flame skins are black and orange halloween skins for the event.

Are we actually gonna get to keep anything from the event like a new multiplayer skin or weapon skin or something? Because I'll be kind of pissed if they're waving all of this stuff in front of us and then just, don't give us anything.

I must've wasted total 15 shotgun shells on teammates because I thought they were locust, due to the pumpkin heads. God damn you. Sooo... the dlc is delayed, SOMEHOW, even though it's already on the disc. Everybody including me is pretty annoyed about it. This is my last day off too, I was expecting to be playing it. Bah, :l

They're probably just delaying it in order to extend the hype for it and insure more people buy it, or something. There's seriously no reason they couldn't release it, it's already on the disk. They seriously are trying to milk every penny they can out of us, and even gypping us when it comes to the regular DLC. All everybody knows is it's a 'technical' issue, which is weird because it's on the disc. People are blaming microsoft and epic for this, and it's probably both of them. I don't get how a game company could have this many problems..

Gears of War 2 came out in the midst of a bunch of AAA titles too. If anything I think the death blow to this game will be the DLC. They released a half-finished product. Barely any locust skins, and you can buy twice as many DLC skins as there are in the base game. The campaign leaves a shitload of loose ends and there are a lot of instances of just lazy writing and/or DLC/sequel hooks that are really noticeable and in bad taste. There's also a sparse selection of Multiplayer maps, seeing as how if you even just play it for a day you'll probably be sick of the selection. This is also excluding the poor multiplayer balance. Half of the new weapons they added are useless. Retro Lancer is for short range, but a Shotgun user can probably beat a Retro user at close enough range. The sawn off shotgun is pretty much useless seeing as it has the same gib range as the Gnasher but with half the range and waaaaaaay less ammo, and yet it can be really frustrating because if your team is close-knit, you can all be instantly killed by a single shot from it. The One-Shot is useless because it limits your movement but is roughly as good as the Torque Bow, which has a lot less drawbacks. Flame grenades are kind of redundant seeing as how frags and ink grenades perform the same function and are a lot easier to use. Basically in a nut shell Gears of War 3 was kind of a lazy game and it shows, and if it does die out, that will probably be the reason.

They announced the DLC being delayed about 6-7 hours ago, and if they truly worked around the clock, they have 6-7 hours of work into the problem. I'm just hoping out loud here, but maybe it'll be out without 2-3 hours?

When companies say they're working around the clock on things, that's usually just a big fat lie to keep people happy and hopeful. If it was a technical issue, it wouldn't take 6-7 hours straight of work to fix it. If they really are working literally around the clock on this singular problem with their entire studio, it would be fixed by now, especially since it's probably a very minor issue, considering all of the content is already on the disk and ready to be unlocked. I mean fuck people mod their Xbox and unlock all of the DLC and can play it fine. Why is Epic having such a hard time doing the same fucking thing that some guy in his basement can do in an hour or two?

Considering how many people they're angering because of it, I don't think it'll be getting GOOD publicity like they might be hoping for.

I severely doubt the delay will cost them a single sale. On the flip side of things, the story was in pretty much every gaming news website and newsletter and show and such, meaning the map pack itself got an extra news story and even more exposure. No such thing as bad publicity.

They announce a delay without an ETA, and then they release an ETA, and then they release it. Probably getting Gears 3 tomorrow. How is the SP? I enjoyed the SP of Gears 1 and 2. Is this as good?

How the fuck can they delay a DLC thats already on disk? Oh well, I was looking forward to using the new Horde upgrades before I pick up Deus Ex Human Revolution tomorrow.
