Uhh...I think my Gears of War 3 game is glitched. Does anyone else see all the content for the upcoming DLC now listed in their character screen select? I took some pictures just in case. When I try selecting one of the characters, I get prompted to buy the DLC pack for -1 points. After selecting "Confirm Download", I get this message:
I got it too but a few weeks back.
Is RAAM really pronounced "rahm"? I always pronounced it as "ram".
Is RAAM really pronounced "rahm"? I always pronounced it as "ram".
So did I. but it really is pronounced "RAHM", even the characters in the game pronounce it as such.
So RAAM's shadow was released today but those that bought the Season Pass are having technical issues with it currently. The game will give you a pop up saying "New Downloadable Content Available" BUT it brings you to the wrong tab and says you have to pay for it. Hopefully this gets fixed soon. EDIT: Looks like it's fixed now. Still on 50%
What is the new dlc?
What is the new dlc?
RAAM's Shadow, adds a new single player portion of the game where it takes place just a few days after E-Day. You're placed in Zeta squad (consisting of Tai Kaliso, Minh Young Kim, Michael Barrick and Alicia Valera. Their job is to fight off locusts and evacuate any remaining citizens in the city of Ilima. On a side note you also play very VERY small portions where you can control RAAM himself and slaughter all the helpless COG soldiers that try to defy you, and your elite squad consisting of 3 boomers (2 elite maulers with horned helmets and special boom shields that reflect bullets back at the attacker. A boomer equipped with a giant hammer and a stake, his role is to create vibrations in the ground to call seeders in that location. And last but not least a Theron Elite Guard who is equipped with a torque bow and a sawed off shotgun with a bayonet). RAAM and his squad's role is to call upon seeders to ink the skies with nemecysts so that the kryll can move in, in broad daylight (sun shielded by the ink) and basically fuck up the entire city.
Actually that sounds pretty great. Being able to play right after the E-day sounds awesome. Although I do fear that dlc is overpriced and pretty short. Is it any good? After the GoW3 campaign I was very disapointed by the storytelling.
It's supposedly three hours, but they said Gears 3 was twelve hours, and I cleared it in eight. It's probably one or two hours at most.
In my opinion the DLC doesn't have any tension because you know that Alicia is pretty much the only named character who can die here. Jace lives, Kim dies in Gears 1, Barrick already died later in the comics, and Tai dies in Gears 2. Not to mention RAAM, who dies in Gears 1. It's just kind of like yeah we pretty much know what's going to happen here, especially since Illima is abandoned by the events of Gears 2, I believe.
Well, I can save that money then.
and the new enemies - such as the Armored Mauler - only appear a few times throughout the DLC. the horror segment was laughably silly since most Gears fans would already expect the wretchers to jump out.
I really hate all of the continuity errors. Maulers, Mulchers, and weird Hammer boomers, along with the one-shot, sawed off, and hammer of dawn consoles when we didn't see these things until after Gears 1, or not at all. It just kind of bothers me that they went into it with the mindset of "DLC centering around RAAM with cool shit in there." rather than looking at it as a legitimate Gears 1 prequel. If someone hadn't played Gears 1 or 2 and you told them that this took place during Gears 3 or right before it, they'd probably buy it.
Savage Grenadier Elite BRRWR-4CQX8-Q6C3B-RJXHP-GQPG2
I was about to post saying "posted an hour ago? already used I guess" but then I checked my Redeem Code tab and it said it worked. I wish I could've gotten the code for a buddy but damn, thanks a ton bro!
Anyone up for completing Beast on the hardest difficulty to unlock that locust character for multiplayer? I still need to do that.
Can anyone give me some advice on Horde mode? I play with a good friend of mine, we both play well but at wave 43 we always die. Only 2 players is really hard at times. The sheer amount of enemies is just nuts.
mega bump. so after my computer took its last breath today ive been forced to do other things like play gamecube all night and finally return to the 360. i forgot to come back for the raam's shadow dlc, so i was wondering what the third DLC could be. then i get to the download prompt and lo behold it's raam's shadow part 2- and it's a 2 GB download. so much for on disc DLC. im not going to look it up so its a surprise when it finishes :v:
They need to do something about that beast mode timer, I mean make it so you run out of more money easy and have to be extra careful about your plan of attack
By the way, on Januay 12th a title update was released. [release]Improvements -All unlockable and non-purchasable characters are unlocked for System Link play. Online play still limits players to characters that they have unlocked or have purchased through DLC. -"Classic" stalemates are now enabled on the Execution and Warzone playlist. An option exists in private Execution to disable classic stalemates and re-enable the man-up rule. -The ghost camera can be raised and lowered using the Xbox controller d-pad. -"Must Active Reload" mutator has been made more restrictive. Issues with the Torque Bow and OneShot have been fixed. -"Retribution" ribbon is now compatible with dedicated servers. -Holding the "Y" button before being in range of a DBNO player and then walking into activation range will start the execution sequence. This is similar to holding "X" to queue up a weapon pickup sequence when walking into range of a dropped weapon. Exploit Fixes -Removed Hammerburst and Longshot exploits with using the iron-sights/scope on Mercy where a player could shoot from a concealed position near the Sanctuary bells. Damage will not register when players are using the scope or iron-sights from that concealed position. -Fixed the OneShot exploit on Drydock. Players will be pulled out of the OneShot mounted pose when in certain positions. General Fixes -A second player signing in on the loading screen before entering the pre-game lobby will no longer cause profile issues. -The transition from spectator player view to ghost camera view will no longer force the ghost camera view to point upwards. -The map cycle in QuickMatch is now randomly ordered. -DLC that is not owned by the current player will no longer stop the player from using DLC they do own. -Horde will no longer use the Versus weapon swaps. Horde players will have Hammer of Dawn and Mortar spawns on Overpass again. -Fixed the lens flare on a scoped Longshot not appearing for a player facing left. -Xbox system notifications have been moved out of the way of kill messages in competitive multiplayer. They now show up in the top center of the screen.[/release]
They need to do something about that beast mode timer, I mean make it so you run out of more money easy and have to be extra careful about your plan of attack
i just want a beast mode dlc of some sort from the 4th season pass DLC. also jesus christ the AI in RAAM's shadow was TERRIBLE. around the last few acts the bots would just run straight into the kryll buildings and die constantly, and then when you fight RAAM you'd only be able to win if he didn't target you, otherwise the bots don't do dick shit to him.
Gears of War 3 DLC stuff is on Deal of the Week right now. Gears of War 3 RAAM’s Shadow: Pack 2 - 800 MSP (33% off) Gears of War 3 Horde Command Pack - 560 MSP (30% off) Gears of War 3 Weapon Skin Collection: Launch Collection - 1800 MSP (50% off) Weapon Skin Bundle - Haze Set - 160 MSP (33% off) Weapon Skin Bundle - Thunderstorm Animated Set - 160 MSP (50% off) Cover Barrier - 200 MSP (38% off) Berserker Pet - 120 MSP (50% off) It's a bit dissapointing to see that the Season Pass is not on sale.
I just bought Gears 3 the other day. Does anyone still play it? Gamertag is Rebecca Blaak
I don't know how many other people read into the symbolism in this game, but it's obvious to me that the Coalition of Ordered Governments is an oppresive, manipulative superstate, and this helped me empathise with the Locust more than anything. The Locust were displaced from their home, the Hollow, by the Lambent infection. Queen Myrrah didn't want to negotiate with the COG, knowing their destructive nature, which was further evidenced by the Hammer of Dawn strikes which destroyed Sera's surface and killed millions of its population (kinda foreshadowing what the Locust would later do). Throughout the three GoW games, you are conditioned to believe that the Locust are unintelligent, remorseless vermin, when in 'reality' their situation is much more dire than that of the humans. They are fighting for survival against not only the parasitic Lambent in their home, but also a well-equipped and well-trained military on the surface (who are arguably more ruthless than the Locust). Because we play the game through the eyes of Marcus Fenix, we experience the capitalist nature of the COG first-hand. Prescott is repeatedly shown to be deceptive, as with the Chairmen who came before him. Jacinto Plateau is a regarded as a 'haven' for the elite upper classes, who holed up there while the rest of Sera burned. These points are repeated at least once during each game. The ending of GoW 3 annoyed me, because the underdogs (Locust) lost, and the bullies with the guns and power and anabolic steriods won. To sum up: the COG is the bad guys. The Locust are just fighting to survive. I think wrote this badly and missed a few key points, but let me know what you think
