Again, I probably sound like a broken record by now, but if you have any doubts wait for the finished game. This is Alpha, as in not even far along enough to be Beta, as in well and truly unfinished game.
Good point, although 3 euros isn't a large sum of money, and I have an obsession with anything independent. I'll probably sign up within the week.
Can anyone create me an account to play with them for free when they are online? Someones youtube for the game Love, nice footage.
Are the servers' world shaped like a globe, in the videos it looks like you're playing on a globe
Are the servers' world shaped like a globe, in the videos it looks like you're playing on a globe
Yes the world is a globe. However it's divided into 6 pyrospheres, so I think of it as a very round cube. As well, there was a glitch that allowed you to "super jump", so someone flew out about 2miles away from the main land. It turns out that it actually looks spherical, and that eskil actually renders all of the stars/galaxies in the skybox as sprites.
How to do the "super jump" glitch: Make a small cave, then while standing inside, place a window directly where you're standing.
This might sound kind of silly, but the game's title actually starts to make sense after a while. Most MMOs are all about player ego and direct self-gratification. Basically you're constantly trying become more powerful and make yourself bigger in the eyes of others. Nearly all your tasks and goals in the game, whether it be grinding or quests, are tied to this. Love is the complete opposite in that it isn't about player ego or direct self-gratification at all. Heck, in a way the game doesn't even let your ego in the door, it immediately strips you of your individuality by assigning you a name and giving you a generic model that looks like everyone else. You're pretty much reduced to being a faceless cog in a machine when you first come into the game. This is probably the more painful part of Love, and probably what will turn a lot of people away. Rather than being about player ego and direct self-gratification, just about everything you do in Love is for the good of others as well as yourself. Nearly all your goals and tasks are directed towards the good of the whole settlement and most of the things you will benefit from will come from the actions of other players. Essentially you are helping others through your actions and you are getting more in return. When you think about it, Love really is kind of like love. In real life love often involves setting your ego aside, which can often be a painful process, in order to help someone else and by helping someone else you get more in return and vice versa. Anyway, there's my little perhaps corny theory regarding the title of the game.
Arg my server is down :(
I hate having no money.
you can borrow my friend account :)

I can't believe I still haven't tried this game even after making the thread for it.
It looks so peaceful to watch that. Also the development tools looked very clever! I mean it must require something to build up tools like that! They were all real-time as well! [editline]03:49AM[/editline] Games like these have the potential to tackle up WoW a little. Because they are something totally new.

It requires interaction, it forces you into a situation with a generic-named stranger, while you casually work towards building a settlement. It gets intense. I found a settlement with one other person in it, we worked our asses off trying to keep it alive. It was right at the base of a cliff between a couple enemy settlements. We built up huge-ass earth walls all around us, they still broke through all the time. We ended up having enemies pop out of nowhere, destroy our force field, then mortars came down and destroyed a good chunk of it as well. By then it was doomed, so we left and waited for it to die while gathering tokens and finding a better and safer spot to settle. It sort of sucked how it ended, but it was fun. [editline]10:38PM[/editline] Also, anybody else play regularly on any of the servers? It's hard as hell to try and play alone, because you can't go token hunting since you need to worry about defense.
This story PVP?
Nah, no PVP. Moreso PVE. Bots are simple, but they work rather well. Which actually is a problem, because it makes them really efficient at destroying you, from what I've seen. [editline]11:10PM[/editline] By the way, I've decided I'm going to be playing on Atlanta 2 (unless I find out there is a server with about 5 other people playing often on it). I'll probably play somewhat often.
arg noone is ever palying this and enemys are to hard, i can't believe i payed 3 $ for this :(
Is anyone still playing this? I'm just about to register and i wanna give someone 5 free days :) Well after I fix up the game, I'm seeing the terrain in the menu as black, is that bad? I'm gonna download the newest drivers and see if it fixes the problem... Oh and with the game time, does it use time as your on? Or constantly, whether or not your playing? (with the exception of down-time, of course)
I remember when I played I went in some guy's settlement with someone else and we constantly threw grenades around the place killing everyone while picking up their power for health. The more pissed they got the more fun it was. I dunno if you can still do that though.
Whoa, this looks pretty tight.
I just watched that video in the OP. Man I'm sold.
Paid for this earlier today and I have to say that it's an extremely interesting game that can be quite fun. It's much more fun if you get a big group of people and build a settlement together as you have more of a chance of surviving the initial wave of enemy AI.
Alright, I bought it, signed up, and got in game. I started in a giant rock hole and can't get out. awesome there we go. I got out. I'm a little confused about this token thing though, do they just appear randomly around the map? EDIT: fell in a pit again god damn. Still can't find anyone and am perpetually lost; however I remain interested in this game.
The tokens appear randomly but certain types appear in certain places. For example: The normal tokens such as the config tool, smooth edit and settlement ones are more likely to appear out in the 'wild' where there is no AI. Blasters, weapons and force-fields are more likely to appear in an AI base. These two sites are quite good: http://www.gaminglove.net/forums/ http://www.loveinvers.es/ The Wiki on both of these hold a small amount of useful information. Overall the game is quite confusing but it's addicting to play.
Has this game improved? I played it the day the alpha came out and it was total shit.
Open Beta on January 7th. But it's $4.75 a month.
I'm not paying for a beta, sorry. I'm skeptical enough as-is, making me pay for something like that is just complete horseshit. Looks nice, good idea, but oh well.
So how do you suppose one man covers all the server costs?
So how do you suppose one man covers all the server costs?
He's just being a bitch because he can't pay for a game, so he trolls in a thread thinking he is funny. I would pay for this, but I'm already occupied with another MMO sadly. (User was banned for this post ("If you think someone is trolling report them and move on. Whiiiiine. (User was banned for this post ("Why reply" - verynicelady)) To tell him he's whining duh.
Played the alpha. There is art style games...but this.. I can't even tell what is going on most of the time.
Looks really good. I am not so sure I would pay each month to play it though.
