Just wanted to Say the site has announced today that Open Alpha has started/is starting soon. You can't play just yet, but a forum has gone up and he is going to start distributing keys soon, so I suggest you register there. You can also download the Alpha and stare at the Title Screen if you wish to do so. http://iloapp.quelsolaar.com/blog/news?Home&post=56
Thanks for the bump, this looks very interesting.
I'm being totally serious. But from the video and the pictures it doesn't look that good of a game
It's going to fail due to a very small amount of people that will play it. And it doesn't look too good, really.
The released alpha runs flawlessly on Linux using wine. It's a shame that it looks there will be time fee for playing after all. If he keeps it low, I will probably pay it anyway.
Apparently this alpha does not actually let you play it just tells him which graphics etc work.
Apparently this alpha does not actually let you play it just tells him which graphics etc work.
you should read beyond the first line

I emailed Eskil asking a few questions. I am hoping he will answer them. Yes I asked when the keys might be released.
After spending a lot of time on his modelling program, I really want to see how this game looks and plays.
After spending a lot of time on his modelling program, I really want to see how this game looks and plays.
That was released publicly?
He answered me.
Hi Mark > 1. When do you think you might be giving out keys? Soon ish > 2. How long as Love been in development officially as a MMO? Ist not really an MMO, but a little less then 3 years > 3. How do you think the first release (Not beta or alpha) will go? No idea. > 4. How much will this monthly fee be, if there is one? The alpha will be 3 Euros, the game 10. Cheers E
The monthly fee can change just to let you know, but he is thinking of 3 Euros for the alpha and 10 for the release. So if this is the fee then it will be about 14$ a month for it once released and 4$ a month for the alpha.
Sent him an email yesterday as well.
Hi > I found out about Love today and I was immediately impressed. What got to > me was the visuals, they're truly unique and beautiful. Thank you. > When I heard that servers will have a player limit of about 200 registered > players it got me thinking. What if the limit is reached? Obviously no > more > players would be able to register to that server but what if a great > majority of that server's players become inactive? Players will time out. > Do they remain > registered > to that server or will they be auto-pruned from the server to allow new > players? And what about the monthly fee? I do love to support independent > game developers and really monthly fees don't bother me that much, but how > much would this cost me per month? 10 Euros for the game 3 for the Alpha. > Finally, would there be a possibility > for > larger worlds to accommodate a higher player limit? I don't think it will make the game any better. > Thanks for reading and hopefully I'll hear back from you. Great work on > the > game and if you keep it up you have a definite buy from me. Thanks E
Wow I am so excited for this.
That was released publicly?
Yeah the modelling programs were released publicly for free. [editline]09:41AM[/editline]
http://www.quelsolaar.com/love/gameplay_video.html
That's not what I meant. I meant I wanted to know what it was like to play it and have to see the graphics from a video.
I just watched his video of the tools he used to make it. As a semi decent maya modeler I was absolutely blown away.
Did you even think about them questions "how do u think it will go lOL" seriously
That is not what I meant. I meant how does he think the first release will go in terms of people buying and playing it. Nor did i say "lol" in my email. I also used proper spelling and grammar.
That is not what I meant. I meant how does he think the first release will go in terms of people buying and playing it. Nor did i say "lol" in my email. I also used proper spelling and grammar.
it was a dumb question and you know it (hence the dumb answer he gave)
That looks awesome, seems like a lot of work however and a monthly fee isn't exactly nice.
The verse apps he developed are super cool, glad he released them.
The verse apps he developed are super cool, glad he released them.
Would it be at all good for a first time modeler?
it was a dumb question and you know it (hence the dumb answer he gave)
It is and I know it is, but I wanted to see his answer. Mmmm k? Now drop the subject.
Would it be at all good for a first time modeler?
Yes and no. It teaches a lot of importance. If you had someone walking you through with it, you'd learn quite a few lessons. But if you want to pump out something truly decent, no. It's also multiplayer so you can get some unique results with a friend!
Someone should create a Verse server then we can all work on stuff together :D
Someone should create a Verse server then we can all work on stuff together :D
I'd be down. I would even host but I'm not entirely sure how that works.
I'd be down. I would even host but I'm not entirely sure how that works.
You just double-click on verseserver.exe and it should work.
You just double-click on verseserver.exe and it should work.
Yeah but is that all there is to it? I thought that was simply for local servers.
