The idea of this game is great but it needs a lot of work. Shooting feels extremely strange and the RTS view is really awkward.
The idea reminds me of that game Savage, which was an rts/fps hybrid set in a primitive fantasy world. This sounds interesting but I have to agree that the graphics are kind of a turn-off. Gameplay > Graphics, but only to an extent. Back in the day this wouldn't have been an issue, but I think the bar for looks on a game has raised from over a decade ago. But I will still give it a fair shot when I get off work in the morning.
Another main problem is that it's somewhat hard to find some decent servers. Still it's fun though.
Oppression was better. In this you can't play as the bad guys.
I still bought this though, for some reason. I only played it once, too.
The game is okay though there are not many servers.
:saddowns:
Did you make sure you activated the game with the product code because if you didn't there will be only demo servers.
I remember playing Iron Grip: Oppression, and all it boiled down to was a first person tower defense.
This one any good?
I played their source mod a long time ago. The gameplay was extremely broken with the RTS guy having no chance of actually winning. Other than that the coding was extremely glitchy, lagged like hell, and just wasn't much fun. I admit, it was a good idea though.
There is no RTS guy in this, only AI. Extremely hard.
I haven't seen any bugs or lag yet.
Oppression looked interesting to me.
Shit this game is sooooooooooooo much fun.
If you guys mind to play sometime just pm me.
I was wrong... This is fun. Shocking.
game is great :D
Hey wait, if this is made in source, then does that mean I can make maps for this in Hammer? O_O If so, I'm in! It would be awesome to make some nice tactical points. :) Chokepoints especially.
The only thing I didn't like about the game was that it feels very much like a Quake 3 mod.
Right down to the movement speed and the way weapons handle.
Yeah, I would also like it better if the player were just a bit tougher and the enemy soldiers were a bit more like paper, if you catch my drift.
This game has large possibilities for its expansions, the authors promissed to add more stuff and mods for free so we will see, but by now im having great fun.
Actually if you find a good bunch of guys and stick to them for couple of rounds you get pretty organised without too much comunication, that said it would be better with friends.

Thats why you buy upgrades.
I'm not sure, but AFAIK this doesn't have VOIP (yet). Still, graphics aren't all that bad. Maps are acutally pretty nice for the engine, it's just the viewmodels that needs an update basically. Good thing they went on Steam. This will hopefully make it more populated.
VOIP is a must have.
I love getting in a good spot right in front of the enemy waves with a deployable machine gun. I mow them down right away, get enough energy for a rocket launcher, blow up tanks.
I feel fucking invincible. Except I die, but respawn in like two seconds.
VOIP is a must have.
Does it have VOIP though?
Best part is when you have to take down walker (big spider like mech) with just molotovs, mines and fuelbombs. ...guerilla style.
Does it have VOIP though?
Nope, sadly.
The game is fun and all, but opression just felt better with the pvp combat. This one is basicly tower defense in fps-rts.

The weak point is that one stupid or griefer-like player can then destroy the game for others and they wanted to go comercial with this so they chose AI controled enemy.
Zombie master suffered from same problems. If the rts player wants to win at all costs and not acts like game master then he will do things like spawning girders on people's heads.
And with relativelly small amounts of servers even couple of griefers can destroy the game.
This game is actually quite amazing. On higher difficulties, teamwork is a NECESSITY. It's amazing what you see people do in this game. And my god that deployable MG fucking rapes.
Had some awesome matches right now. It was really intense and cool.
Glad the game was so cheap.

That's fucking stupid.
It worked out perfectly fine for the Savage series.
You just need the ability to kick the commander out of the seat.
Note Savage is played by two RTS players with the same possibilities, so no matter how dirty you play the enemy can be as mean as you are, which adds to competitiveness and it's ok.
Warlord has an assymetrical gameplay system so it would be an endless strugle to balance this kind of system. As far as i remember in opression it was imposible to win as a rts player. If the rts guy would play as sort of gamemaster to create a good game experience for you this would not be a problem, but lots of kids would play just to "pwn" the fps players.
And yes, you could kick the commander, but the secon one could be as bad as the first or there may not be a guy who wants to control confederacy, mind the player base its not so big to have lots of player to chose from. ...thou this as i hope could change over time.
That said i would actually welcome a mod that enable the control over confederation to player, but i somehow understand the authors that they didn't wanted to enjoyment of their game be too dependant on other humans.
...and feel free to disagree, but do it in a civilsed manner and don't call it "fucking stupid".

there's another iron grip title to come out that's going to be free to play. it's apparently a browser game running on the unity engine and is turn-based rts.
