While I think it's a bit odd to discourage C&C on WIPs, although I understand your point, I completely agree with the whole "add this alien" crap. It's just stupid.

Well he is not saying they will never take criticism, like he said, its just too early, seeing as pretty much everything is still an early WIP.

Do you guys have a definitive length for the mod yet? I know it might be too early to decide, but is there at least a rough estimate on how long the mod will be yet? Perhaps speaking chapter-wise?

I think the plan right now is shorter than a commercial game, but long enough to not be disappointing (nh). Beyond that it's hard to say--we'll have to see how long the first level turns out to be before we can really make estimates.

That's because of melanin. If a member of this species is naturally blue, then surely melanin would only affect whether they were light blue or dark blue, or a shade in-between?

Pretty much all vertebrates need red blood because the coloration is the result of some biology mumbo jumbo that I can't remember but basically it carries blood the most efficiently.
Alien blood is usually different colors as a cliche, and for that reason it would fit here, but it has no basis in reality.

What you're doing is talking from the sole point of reference of a white person, whose skin is pale and translucent enough to be heavily tinted by the blood underneath. Blood influencing skin color isn't even true of all humans, let alone all animals.
For example, vertebrates come in tons of different colors. Most of them aren't pink or red, but just about all of them have red blood.
