What this idea need is some good ol' colonial inequality between the Space Brits and the natives.
What better thing can bring some natives and John Solyman, together?
Hm. Blue natives being oppressed by a foreign, technologically superior occupying force? Sounds like a ripe chance for some sniping at James Cameron's Avatar.
"Hey Solomon, why don't you stick your thing in the Chief's daughter, see how that works out for ya?"
yes, would be great if someone who actually knows what he's doing redid/fixed the current effects
what is wrong with them
Bolty is an amazing particle artist for source. I will ask him when he comes online.

Is he that guy who makes those terrible TF2 "HD" particle effects and those horrible videos with movie-industry music?

I like this mod more and more.

dunno foda had some tips
Hey Jaanus, how is your project coming along in terms of the writing? What's the extent you will focus on story/characters, and is the current work priority more towards the implementation (levels, weapons, modeling etc.) or the script?
Uber and TH are in charge of the story. Also, it's not my project.
Currently we're trying to get the first level done so we have something to show around. There is no fixed story for anything past level 1.
Right, thanks. And I didn't really mean to refer to you exclusively, my fault for wording it that way. But aren't you project lead or something?
What Jaanus said. We have to get certain game mechanics working, like the conversation systems, cutscenes, etc, in order to start implementing the story stuff. Once we have that I'll start nailing down the script, although if you don't mind spoilering stuff there's some finalized copy on the NNY level page: http://galactopticon.net/wiki/index.php?title=Level_01_-_New_New_York
Huh, shit. In my case that's just too bad. I'd love to help with what I'm certain is a very worthwhile endeavor, but my skill-set does not include a texture artist, modeler/rigger, coder etc. so I'd not be of much practical help to the design team. What I can do however is churn out ideas, plot, characterization and maybe dialogue. Would that be useful to you, or do Uber and TH89 have that all covered?
Will the conversation system just be an extra thing when you're outside of combat, or will it have a larger role?

We've got it covered, but thanks for the offer!

It'll be along Mass Effect-style RPG lines--a few conversations that'll drive the plot forward, and a few that just flesh out the game world and add interest.

Yes, they don't fit TF2's style but they're still pretty cool nonetheless.
Yes, I agree on the effects. Admittedly they do look a little out of place in those shots, but they're very pretty and well detailed and are certainly workable.

he replaced the smoke particle with a fire particle. part of making great looking effects is the ability for the effect to fit the style of the game it is in.
He has more cartoony effects more similar to the TF2 originals
Those are pretty nice looking. Too bad about the awful photoshopping of the screenshots.
I talked to him, he's already working on 3 mods so it doesn't sound like he wants to join you guys (at least not right now) because of that.
I don't even think we need one
[editline]02:37AM[/editline]
who said we did?
This mod looks like it'll be awesome if finished.
I know tons of people say "I'll make small props" but I've got the time and resources to do it as well as the need to build a portfolio so I'm offering if you ever need someone to dedicate time to smaller stuff.
Hey Jaanus and crew, what do you guys think about the possibility of stereotyped aliensploitation buddy-cop antagonists? As with almost everything else in this mod, played for laughs of course. Possibly with much lampooning of the tropes and cliches commonly associated with the genres etc. What do you think?
I am really looking forward to this mod

finished a new head for the mafia guys
Looks awesome Jaanus. You gonna have them talk in stereotypical Italian accents?
they already speak
