How about spaceships instead
So does that mean we'll have some hot, sweaty spaceship on alien action? Fine by me.
Wow I cant believe its finsihed already! but maybe you should have some more detail?
dude, that's absolutely just wow. i love it. phong that up eve online style and it'll be ULTRA ROCKIN'
Wow I cant believe its finsihed already! but maybe you should have some more detail?
Yea, it definately needs some more seams, or windows. Something to make it a little less flat. Maybe a few glowing lights...
Look out for that spaceship John Solomon! Shit [editline]23rd October 2010[/editline]
Yea, it definately needs some more seams, or windows. Jaanus is going to do a bunch of normal-mapped hull plates and other detail, then I'm going to do a bunch more skinning including running lights, stains, etc.
So, are separately flying parts are a bug or a feature?
it's not done
it's not done
But think of the possibilities of military jousting ships!
It would look awesome with some scratches and shit. Not that it doesn't look awesome now.
It'd look awesome with a couple of patches over hullbreaches, at the moment it looks a little too perfect
it's not done
suggestion: tie a thruster particle effect to the back of the ship, and blinking lights on the wings too.
suggestion: tie a thruster particle effect to the back of the ship, and blinking lights on the wings too.
Agreed. That could help with the lights and whatnot as well - Valve uses particles for that kind of thing all the time. The TF2 bomb cart, the Witch's eyes, etc.
I'd love to, but I don't know how. Do you guys know how?
I'd love to, but I don't know how. Do you guys know how?
You define particle attachments in the .qc. We don't have a particle, but a placeholder would work for now. http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Particles_on_models
i want a minigame where you can fly the spaceship through asteroids and other pirates are trying to catch u. so u go inside an asteroid and into a worms mouth where you think its a cave and a mysterious man tells u ITS ALL A DREAM but u dont believe him u leave that place before the worm eats you goddamn
You define particle attachments in the .qc. We don't have a particle, but a placeholder would work for now. http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Particles_on_models
Oh awesome. I notice it requires a bone for the attachment points. If it's a static prop, is there a root bone created automatically on compile, or do I have to create one?
You have to make one.
Dang it Anyone got a tutorial
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/$root Just make a bone or something, give it a name, and then when compiling tell it that's the root. At least that's how it works in every engine I've used (2 or 3 Unreal engines/Halo engine) [editline]23rd October 2010[/editline] actually with most engines you name it before you compile but it doesn't seem that way with source
You have to make one.
You sure? I don't remember exactly, but I thought it put a bone at the center of the model if there weren't any. It's been a while, so I can't say for sure. I guess you could always compile something and see if it shits out a bone for you.
I'd love to, but I don't know how. Do you guys know how?
also if you want, i can make said effects for you.
Although the ship is unfinished, I kinda like the floating wing parts look. It makes it look even more from the future and with some tweaking could probably add a cool effect and detract from the phallic shape :v:

Human beings design everything like penis', take a look at water bottles for instance. Completely subconsciously designed similarily to a penis. Its not outwardly projecting that image, but if you think pf the fundamental similarities its kind of humourous. Freud ftw [editline]24th October 2010[/editline] Also, the universe is only limited to the creativity of the its creators.

(similar to the podracers in Star Wars, but less glaringly obvious)
I'd love to, but I don't know how. Do you guys know how?
i do know how. I will do it
I assume this is probably the same phenomenon as making bathtubs look like faces.
In essence, humans are good at subconsciously designing things similar to their own anatomy :v:
