Do we get a prize if we collect them all?
No windows?
Windows are structural weaknesses. Geth do not use them.

Awesome.
Like a brief moment where, in order to progress, you must attach an oxygen apparatus to your face and exit through the airlock on an unknown planet and explore in a different gravity. Could even be a recurring sequence to streamline transition levels between being on board and exploring worlds.
To: GCon devs, Is this idea feasible and/or good? If not, why? Thanks.
To: GCon devs, Is this idea feasible and/or good? If not, why? Thanks.
It might be a good idea for a mod that is about exploring space, but not for this one, for a few reasons: 1. This is the big one: we have more than enough work to do already. We don't need ideas for how we could do even more work. It would take a ton of coding and art assets to implement. 2. The mechanic you described doesn't have any relation to the Galactopticon storyline. 3. Even if we were able to write it in, it wouldn't have any meaningful impact on the story or gameplay. It would just look pretty. 4. It could be done much easier offscreen or in a cutscene.

If you take the basic principle e.g.; the streamlined transition of events, and cut out the uneeded work, it is not a bad idea, no? Second, if I recall the already laid out plans for future levels, I believe there are other worlds you are visiting aside from NNY. Lastly, given our actual knowledge of varying gravitational strengths, it would be scientifically accurate (and cool for gameplay) if different worlds effected the movement of the player differently. This would require limited amounts of code (correct me if I'm wrong) and would be an overall improvement in gameplay experience. My heart is in the right place, just give me some feedback to critique my ideas and let me know if the revisions meet your expectations as far as good ideas go.
No
Why
Shut up That's why
Why
Because we don't need ideas for more work to do?
Why

1. This is the big one: we have more than enough work to do already. We don't need ideas for how we could do even more work.
Firstly, any idea can be tweaked and primed for excellent execution. Its basic principle e.g.; the streamlined transition of events, is a good idea. Second, if I recall the already laid out plans for future levels, I believe there are worlds you are visiting aside from NNY. This giving the idea plenty of oppurtunity to shine. Lastly, given our actual knowledge of varying gravitational strengths, it would be scientifically accurate if different worlds effected movement of the player differently. (E.g.: jump height, distance, falling speed, etc.) This would require limited amount of work (correct me if I'm wrong) and would be an overall improvement to the in game experience.
If making the transition a cutscene is easier then be my guest, but seeing as how there is going to be time spent going on and off the ship, it would save time and energy to make one event that can apply to all the levels. Not only that, but it allows for there to not only be aesthetic originality between levels, but gameplay as well.
How about making Gcon for the Xbox 360 kinect ?????????????

It's not your mod, if you want that so much, shut up and go make your own mod. You aren't entitled to anything here
Anyone with an interest in the mod can put in their opinions, I'm sure I'm not the only one with an interest in game design. The people making this mod are all just gamers too, so who's to say they won't be open to ideas that are good enough? I'm not putting a gun to anyones head and saying 'make this', as you'd like to think. Just trying to make the jobs of the gcon devs a little easier with some clever ingenuity. If what I'm proposing is not even close, then so be it. But they're the ones to make that call, not you. Get off your high horse

I don't see how it would improve, for example, my experience when playing the mod.
Dude, we have our own ideas. We don't need yours.
I'm pretty sure you guys have plenty enough to work with already. :v:

You are finally landing in a lush forest world filled with a plethora of fauna. You take a step out of your ship to notice the bouncy, near feather-light gravity of the moon you were on is gone and are now in an oxygen-rich, 2/3rds earth gravity, jungle world. Your character moves with an unusual quickness and finesse, although, so do your enemies. That's the idea. How the cutscene would play out, transitioning between ship to the next stage, is up to whoever.

You should totally go and make a source mod with all your ideas in it.
If making the transition a cutscene is easier then be my guest
thanks for letting us off the hook bro, I was really scared you were gonna make us do it there
thanks for letting us off the hook bro, I was really scared you were gonna make us do it there
oh shit, don't provoke him he might give you guys more ideas.
Maybe have a part where a window explodes (by a grenade or something) and he makes a remark regarding why windows are such a terrible idea. And like have shit fly all over the place and get sucked out. Edit: and that's the only window in the entire game
Anyone with an interest in the mod can put in their opinions, I'm sure I'm not the only one with an interest in game design. But that's not how it works. Coming up with the idea is the easy part. We have lots of ideas we're currently implementing, like a dialogue system, and a new HUD, and new character models, and the entirety of the first level. If we wanted to implement your idea and make it look good, and we set the whole rest of the mod aside to work on it, it would probably take several months, IF we had a coder, which we don't right now.
I'm not putting a gun to anyones head and saying 'make this', as you'd like to think. Just trying to make the jobs of the gcon devs a little easier with some clever ingenuity.
When you ask us if we want your idea and then argue when we say no, you're being rude. We don't want to be huge jerks or anything but we've said repeatedly and emphatically throughout both threads that we don't need or want ideas for new features. We're struggling to implement the ones we already have in mind--saddling us with your own ideas as well does not help. If you're really interested in game design, try to make a mod about this! The only difference between a modder and an ideas guy is that the modder likes his ideas so much that he straps down and does the work, while the ideas guy just tells people about them in the hopes that someone will do the work for him. I'm working on Galactopticon cause it's the mod I always wanted to play and nobody made it.
Where do I learn?

I haven't been following the thread much
