the game was already at retailers, pretty much every game gets leaked that way

crysis 2 was still in development and obviously leaked by an employee or someone close to the company they are completely different/ isolated incidents

Wow every game gets leaked early stop making a big deal of this. Test Drive 2 was leaked 2-3 weeks early, Black Ops was leaked like a week or two early it happens all the time.

I can kind of see why people think this looks pretty generic. It does do a lot of embarassing pandering to the "HARDCORE!!!" kids who think it's so hilarious to swear every other word, which detracts from the humor quite a bit. And the people defending it going "YOUR WRONG I'M RIGHT I LIKE THIS GAME SO YOU MUST TOO OTHERWISE YOU PLAY CALL OF DUTY MORE LIKE COCK OF DOODY AM I RIGHT LOL" doesn't really help the image much.

But the main appeal for it is that it brings back the old-school gameplay from games like Duke Nukem 3D and Painkiller and tossing in some of the better aspects from Call of Duty. And what with just about every major shooter franchise just cloning Call of Duty's gameplay, it's nice to see something try to actually do something else for a change.

As for it being "leaked", as has been said before, this is a common thing. I know that it seems really hip to post a thread whenever a game is leaked to cause an uproar about piracy ever since the Crysis 2 incident, but it's really not that big of a deal. Hell, even stores like Gamestop ship a few pre-orders a day or two before the street date for just about every new release.

A good example of a generic game is L4D aswell.
It wasn't on release, but now that we have Killing Floor, CoD:Z, Alien Swarm, and Dead Island(Meh, it's got 4-player co-op.) it doesn't satisfy any more. The same gameplay over and over again get boring, the new ones in L4D2(the weekly ones) all suck, the ones that are occasionally good don't stay, etc.

Killing Floor is nothing like L4D and fyi KF came before L4D, "CoD:Z" came after L4D and isn't anything like L4D either, and neither is Alien Swarm or Dead Island (how you can even put this in your post I can't even understand as no one knows how the gameplay is). What the fuck are you talking about? L4D is one of the least generic games out there. There's literally nothing that plays like it does.

You also have to hard mod your console to play pirated games, unless I'm mistaken. Serves as a relatively efficient deterrent.

Sadly, when I played the Bulletstorm demo, it didn't really blow me away. I like the concept, but after a single run of the demo mission, I was already meh.

Games gets leaked all the time, it's sad, but true. There's not much you can do to stop it, and well, going crazy over every single bit of them won't fix things anyway. Crysis 2 was, as said before in the thread, something different, an internal, not complete, built of the entire game that comes out to the public with more than one month ahead of schedule. That's serious. A 4 day ahead release of Bulletstorm will surely not create a large loss of profit, and 4 days isn't that long anyway.

Yea, It really was not as great as others put it out to be. It was meh for me also. Probably a rental at best.
