Before Christmas demand spikes because people want to wear it, and then after Christmas that demand goes away, and many of the people who bought it now want to get rid of it because the novelty has worn off and they'd rather use the cash for something else. The natural Post-Christmas fall in price and Free Trade update, because the GE is what made the Santa hat so damn overpriced in the first place and since people know that the GE as we know it will pretty much be gone they are selling their Santas for the current high price.
