The only way to get an account reactivated is to contact steam support and even then they have every right to tell you to piss off. I dont see how a harmless joke in changing a number in a text file is worth losing all your games.

Anything above just disabling their accounts for a day or two is complete and total bullshit.

You opened a steam_appid.txt, and replaced any number inside with 659, saved, and ran the game directly from the EXE - tada, Portal 2. Only works if you've preordered the game beforehand.

Rate agree for pre-order on steam so I get the discount and portal 1 Box for Amazon so I can get the neat skin Rainbow for Gamestop so I can get the scuba stuff I really cannot make up my mind Facepunch has spoken, I will pre-order from steam even though I want that sexy amazon skin.

Gonna get it for PS3 so I get the PC version anyways. Wait, does that work in reverse also? Can I get it for PC and get the PS3 version?

I'm almost certain that if its your first time getting disabled, Steam support will give you a verbal warning and re-enable it.

I haven't been disabled. Valve isn't going to disable accounts and risk losing tons of customers over a harmless prank. This type of thing has been being done since the Steam Community launched and people renamed their shortcuts.
