They are probably just paying so much to get their professions up as fast as possible so they can earn it back by offering less common recipes. It will probably drop in price once more people are maxed profession.

farming ore in twilight highlands and selling elementium for 10g/ore, pyrite for 30g/ore and gems for crazy prices boy am i glad i quickly leveled my mining alt to 525
