So what's the deal with disc priests right now? I'm hearing everywhere that they got screwed over. My priest is going to be 85 soon is why I'm asking -- I don't know if I should be holy or disc. I much prefer disc healing but if it's underpowered/extremely hard I'm going to have to be holy.

They only got "screwed" over if the player is shit at WoW and/or spams <heal spell>

Yes, you do.
To play Cataclysm, you required to have World of Warcraft Classic($19.99), also known as Vanilla + The Burning Crusade Expansion($29.99) + Wrath of the Lich King Expansion($39.99) and then Cataclysm itself ($39.99).
Sad that you are planing to buy it only now, before Cataclysm release there was massive discount on previous 3 games of WoW.
Don't think much about it for now. Just buy World of Warcraft Classic, play it. And check if you will like this kind of game. Because I personally know people that bought WoW with all Expansions and then quit it after level 30+ (in the game there are maximum 85 levels) With WoW classic you are allowed to play until level 60. Then you can take free 10days trial for The Burning Crusade. Same goes for Wotlk.

To be more serious, I race changed to Tauren. It really rocks, stun racial>Belf racial, 5% higher base health(good for tanking), your no longer gay(woot), and what's the best is tauren size! Bigger size really helps me tanking. Race change, NOW!
