Final Fantasy XIV: Online - Games

So if I'm understanding this right, this game is good because it has Final Fantasy in the tital?

I said I'm giving it a chance instead of dismissing it all together because I have played other Final Fantasies before.

Well 11 is good, so people are hoping 14 is just as good or better. I'm hoping better.

A better way to look at it is more of a Final Fantasy that you play with your friends rather than an MMO. There'll be way more content like missions I expect at launch. Considering there's about 6 gigs of content missing from the current install compared to the recommended for space.

But I don't get it, I've played Final Fantasy's 3 7 8 9 and 10 and this doesn't look like any of them. It hardly even looks like them design wise. The music doesn't seem like Nobuo's work, the story doesn't seem to be exactly epic in scope. I just really, really, really don't understand the appeal of this game, and no one seems to have a satisfactory answer as for why it's good.

Probably because you are playing devil's advocate and you don't want a good answer. I think i laid out pretty good reasons as to why people and myself are excited for 14. People play mmorpg for different reasons, crafting, social, end game, acquiring gear, notorious monsters, are all reasons why people play and are just a few. To me i loved the endgame in 11, so just waiting to see what the endgame in 14 is like is definitely a reason as to why this game might end up being really awesome!

I'm looking forward to the main storyline missions. They were so good in XI and it seems like they're going to be even better. They have voice acting right?

I can see how the fatigue system would also encourage players to not play for 15 hours a day, and instead when they get near breaking the threshold, they can just go outside for a while and wait for the limit to go back down. Fatigue system seems really good.

I have a question: If you make an account with PC, can you login with your PS3 when the PS3 version comes out?

I'm in the beta, I played it for two hours and it was so boring I uninstalled it.

I don't get why people hang around in threads just to hate on the game they are discussing. We already know you dislike the game so get out.

I agree.

Not going to lie I was in the beta too and about halfway through OB I just couldn't play it anymore. It's just so bland and boring. It brings absolutely nothing new to the table.

The cursor pissing anyone else off? My FPS isn't extremely high (25-30, playable) but the cursor feels a full second behind, it's annoying me, not only that but I don't have a clue what I'm doing, the game seems heavy on story and If I'm honest, I skip everything. Then I end up in a tiny segment (like an inn or something) and I have no god damn clue what I'm doing.

Yes, the game currently uses a software mouse. Hardware mouse support will be available at release they said + the UI will have dramatic improvements. Everything should be snappy and fast in addition to our FPS increasing from not having to run all the beta processes while we're playing.

Also it seems everyone is leaving due to the beta ending on sunday. :C

I have no interest in wasting my free time playing right now. I can't submit feedback anymore so there's no point in leveling up. Looking forward to next week!!

I might give a try again once it comes to the Ps3, something about being able to lay in bed and play an MMO seems pretty cool. Other than that the game is quite confusing to a new player, no idea what I'm doing, running around enjoying the graphics but that's about it. Also the music, hate it, so annoying, sounds like I'm playing runescape.

How the fuck do you not like the music? It's fantastic.

It just annoys me, especially when you enter combat and it turns into Runescape. There's not cinematic or orchestral about it, in my opinion. Although I've never played a Final fantasy game, so it might be lost to me.

It's amost exclusively all done on an electric keyboard, that's why.
