Phantasy Star Online was better :colbert: (User was banned for this post ("Trolling" - Benji))
Dude PSO was the shit, are you kidding me. Everyone loved PSO... But what does this have to do with PSO, lol.
I got a twinklebox and I found out I had to go to some guy in a deep part of this forest. So there I am, running all the way through this forest passing these highly dangerous monsters. I started getting attacked by like 3 or 4 of these giant spider like creatures. Luckily they didn't do much since I had stoneskin, which I think makes the first hit take no damage. I managed to out run them and finally made it to this camp I was supposed to go to after 30 minutes of running. I was really hoping to get a santa hat, or the coat. I ended up getting the boots :saddowns: Edit: I actually like the way the level up thing works. I like that I can craft things and still get my physical level up. Only thing I don't like so far is that it seems like there's hardly any kinds of armor (it might have just been the wikipedia page I was looking at) and that it seems really hard to obtain the necessary ingredients to craft things.
Phantasy Star Online was better :colbert:
May interest you to know Phantasy Star Online 2 has been announced. http://phantasystar.sega.jp/psportal/pso2/
I'm on Karnak, it's pretty decently populated.
I noticed some of the armors saying that they favor certain classes. I'm currently a Conjurer, but if I buy something that doesn't favor the Conjurer class, can I still use it? Edit: Nevermind, answered my own question. You can.
They must not have advertised this game hardly at all because I saw it at Walmart yesterday and I didn't know they had ever even announced it.
Daijitsu, are you in Gridania? If so, and you're on the Cornelia server, we should meet up.

(I think less than half?) Same when using something that is a much higher rank that you are at.
I haven't been online because of the holidays. But I'll be on a lot this week.
What's an easy way to travel across the lands without having to run past incredibly tough monsters and risk dieing? I want to check out the other cities, but I don't really want to have to run through field after field.
You can group up with someone and have them teleport you to the cities. Are you on Cornelia? I'll get on and do that for you if so.
Yep, I'm on Cornelia. I'm in Gridania. Ichigo Chidori is my name. Edit: I should also mention that I am next to the Aetheryte Crystal.
God damn I wish this was a singleplayer game. The story in it is amazing. I want to experience all the cut scenes and everything at max settings, but I don't really want to have to make a new character to do so.
Wow, game's got impressive graphics for an MMO. I've never really cared for the Final Fantasy games, but I might check this out some time. How is the combat system? I'd heard from a friend who was closely following this game's development some time ago that they were doing some pretty unique things with combat in this game, but I don't know any specifics.
The game uses a Fatigue system. Whenever you get in a fight, a stamina bar comes up. Every action you do, be it swinging your sword or casting a spell, takes up a certain amount of stamina. The stamina bar regenerates pretty fast too. Also, there isn't an auto-attack. You have to pick which attack you want to use. I'm not good at explaining things, but this might help a bit.
So it's still your basic, boring skill-bar system?
Pretty much, but you have other things on top of it. You're able to damage/cut off certain parts of an enemy to make certain moves of theirs weaker or to get a specific drop. There is also a system called battle regimen which basically, you all activate this battle regimen mode and stack your abilities in the correct order to apply certain effects to enemies or allies. Pretty cool but the game could really do with what they originally intended for some of the classes. Such as different arrows (to cause different effects) for archer and defensive/attacking stances for the pugilist.
So it's still your basic, boring skill-bar system?
Not exactly. Your basic skills use up Stamina, which is slowly replaced so you can keep using them at a steady space, and your move advanced skills require TP, which is gained when attacking or being attacked by an enemy and is slowly lost when not being used. It's a quite exciting system because you can't just simply spam everything to win, you need to carefully manage your attacks to keep your damage up but also not run out of juice.

Are physical levels as important as ranks? At the moment I'm a r19 marauder and my phys level is 17. Should I always keep my phys level as high as my highest rank? Haven't done any crafting really so I think I could catch up fast by doing local leves..
It's probably better to have it higher simply because it gives you more attribute points to play around with. Though your class will have a cap on how much of a certain attribute it actually uses, for example if you were physical level 20 and your strength was at 50 and your current class was rank 10, it wouldn't take advantage of all that strength. So in one case it's not particularly better to have a higher physical level (but not really worse either) this is if you've focused on only a few attributes. But in the other case, if you have balanced your attributes it will make a bigger difference if your phys level is higher. Morale of the story, balance attributes and keep your physical level about the same or higher than your highest class (which really happens naturally anyway, especially if you rank up crafting classes)
Is there a free trial? [editline]6th January 2011[/editline] What server should I join?
Benji said to join Cornelia, what's what me and him are playing on. I don't know about everyone else though.
I'm on Bodhum.
Where can I download the game? I can't find anywhere...
Where can I download the game? I can't find anywhere...
You're going to have to buy it from a store. Steam/Direct2Drive/Impulse/etc, there aren't any digital distribution stores offering it. Best Buy, Gamestop, WalMart, and a few other stores carry it. If you buy on Amazon, you can usually get it at a good discount: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002I0JJ2U $29.99 (from $49.99) for the standard. http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-XIV-Collectors-Pc/dp/B003O6EFKI $68 for the collectors.
Finally got my Usagi Kabuto. Now to craft it into a black one!
Ugh, just found out I have to be rank 26 to continue with the main storyline. I'm only rank 16 :( Time to pull out this leveling guide I have and start doing quests edit I also wanted to ask what this was in this picture that's flying http://filesmelt.com/dl/FFXIV_1294268953.jpg
