I got a 591 on the benchmark..
Just found out why people keep getting bad benchmark scores. If you have anything but an NVidia, the score is significantly lower than what it would be if you had an NVidia equivalent to your card. (I.E. Your score will be low if you have an ATI 5970, but will be high if you have an NVidia 480) This is because Square Enix has some sort of deal going on with NVidia.

$12.99/month, additional characters are $3.99 each, and each additional retainer will cost $1 per period.

Beta is pretty fun, but as it's my mum's account not mine, she's decided to log back into FFXI instead. Blargh.
I enjoyed being followed around by a load of sheep. Then being one-shotted when I got bored.
Interesting. I find it weird how much they want you to keep your hands on the keyboard, as opposed to using the mouse too.
So how goes it? I'm a little late with OrYgin's livestream since it's offline, but is it fun so far?
The game was clearly originally designed for console, when you move your view around it not just moving as much as your mouse, but start to spin around your character. There's a lot of mouse smoothing, making the Gui a pain in the ass to use.
And overall the Gui has a lack of ergonomic, to open a listing menu, you have to click on the arrow, you can't click on the list ....
You are dropped in the game without having any clue on what you have to do or what you can do. There's a very quick tutorial on how to lunch a rock on a jellyfish or something (doing 1 Dmg, when your instructor come and do 953 Dmg ...)
Later on, my first quest : It took me 1 hour to wonder where I have to go exactly. After that, you stay there trying every key on your keyboard to activate the crystal, just before you quit the game, you find the "Activate" option in the pause menu ..... WTF ?
The graphics are good, but it freeze a lot when you move around, because it needs to load the new areas to often, so it's kind of unplayable.
Here's my specs, I play with minimal shadows, and no Ambiant Occlusion or AA :
Quad Core Q6600 @ 3ghz (oc)
Sapphire 4850 512Mb
6gb of DDR2 800 mhz ram.
(I play with at least 4 gig free, so WHY does the game unload every content when I run 5m away from it ?)
Well it's a beta so hopefully they'll fix some of these issues. The mouse thing sounds like it's a big pain in the butt.

I'm playing on European servers, it's ON from 18-22h GMT 0
I got invited today but I can't login to the site yet, can't wait to test it out though.
