Five reasons why an uninformed blogger thinks Steam is bad at what it is used for
They meant to say Steam will take over and PC gaming will be #1 best platform. (even though it already is but it will be like that in most peoples head).

:v
What was wrong with that idea?
I don't think that 'destroy' is the right word.
Five reasons why people like OP will destory PC Industry
His argument with pricing is plain retarded. Steam often has sales that have a large quantity of games a very cheap price, a great example is GTA4 for $7.50.
Or the recent Elite echelon pack (all SC games + digital deluxe edition of conviction for the price of regular conviction) shows that, well, either Valve or Ubisoft likes their customers. I don't really know who made the sale happen.
I missed it though :saddowns:
Steam is THE top gaming pc platforms v:v:v . It IS mainstream
One of the main problems I see about digital copies of games is that a players library could end up scattered across multiple distributors. For instance, you could have games on Steam, Greenhouse, Direct2Drive etc.
Plus, I don't know about the rest of you, but if I download a game from the developers site, such as Crayon Physics or something, I tend to forget I even own the game just because it's not in my steam list.
I just think there is an issue of clarity amongst the distributors. Maybe if someone where to make some kind of tracking application that monitored all your digital libraries, that could be kind of neat.
steam is the best, don't even try to argue about it
Reason 1: "We weren't sure if you knew this but Monopolies are bad, mmkay."
Reasons 2-4: "This is what might happen if Valve started being jerks for no reason, watch out."
Reasons 5: "This doesn't support my main point at all...and it's really not entirely true...but...um..."
I just wrote an essay and then accidentally closed the window due to my injured hand.
Long story short.
The article is bullshit and is stating the opposite of reality.
And if it is true, I welcome my Valve overlords.
Well, that article, sucked
Well, that article, sucked
Well, that's interesting, I guess, but still, why type, like this?
Because Valve is a monopoly, there aren't any other game developers out there, they all just instantly died off from disease at once.
What Steam are you using, boy.
Gabe will never turn into kotick.
I hate Steam. I would much rather having a shiny case full of extra goodies to prove that i shelled out an extra five or ten quid to get the limited edition of the game I like. Steam is essentially a slower way to load up good games in my eyes.
That article pissed me off. Valve is on top because people like it, if they don't like it, there are still the alternative methods of acquiring games.
Valve has single-handedly converted many PC game pirates into Steam users, if large developers would just use steam and DRM measures like Valve does they would see less piracy. Assassin's Creed 2 is ON steam, but it doesn't use the same DRM-scheme. It would reduce piracy.
Steam is the greatest digital distribution platform, I can't imagine many more improvements they could make, except making it a bit more reliable, and banning on a per-game basis instead of an across the board ban.
This article misses the fact that access to steam and cloud is free and open source as long as you have a product you can show off.
You're an indie developer, don't have money for all that big time stuff. Well so long as you show you have a game that works, Valve gives you access to steam and steam cloud with no charge. Of course they take some of your sales, but they don't take a very big chunk of it.
Valve's not Activision who's only in it for the money.
He is just coming out with could happens, could happens, classic scare tactics,
"Well if this company suddenly starts acting totally opposite to how it usually does, and does this, then the whole thing could go"
What Steam are you using, boy.
The stuff that comes out of kettles and old trains.
The stuff that comes out of kettles and old trains.
That explains why this guy must upgrade :D
Tripwire wouldn't exist without Steam. That load about Steam not supporting indie developers is bullshit.
Think off Google, think of Facebook. Now think about Steam in the same way.
So Steam will turn into a monopolistic service that is fair and free and works for everyone?
Sign me up.
your mom will destroy the pc games industry
The little guys don't get a look in? haha, bullshit. Valve is one of the most indie-friendly companies out there.
So, Im just imagining all the great indie games on steam right?
Just because something is wellliked by the community does not make it automatically terrible and a monopoly. There are many competing digital distribution platforms, but imo steam offers the most out of all of them.
