Also it's [sp]so sad when you think about it. Out of all characters, other than the mysterious stranger, John was most definitely the wisest. It's like his treacherous path through life, a life society deemed unacceptable, showed John exactly what life really was and it made him a man upon men. It was always him who took the impartial view in story missions and supplied wise insight.

I enjoyed playing as John and was a bit weird about playing as his son instead but to be honest, the fact he mentions John from time to time makes it cool. I love Rockstar's willingness to kill off the protagonist, though I don't quite understand WHY he was killed? Finishing off the Dutch's gang?[/sp]

[sp]I think it was Ross's plan all along. Get John to do the dirty work and then kill him himself because to Ross he was still part of the gang and still needed to be brought to justice for all the things he did despite trying to become reformed[/sp]

[sp] At the guy about ross and Johns death. he wanted to kill every member of dutches gang, that was the best way, get john to kill 2, then they would kill him, If you look in the first paper as jack, their is a section on how he retired and got a load of medals for bringing down dutches gang.[/sp]

Follow the road to the west of MacFarlanes ranch and you'll come to a cliff. Search along the edge of the cliff and you'll find Mr. Tophat. [sp]John only[/sp]
Regarding the "I Know You" missions, [sp] who exactly was that guy? In the last one, John shoots several bullets at him to no effect. I can't tell if he is actually aiming for him or just scaring him off. If he was actually aiming and it had no effect, could that person actually be a part of John? Some inner voice of his giving him orders.[/sp]
Going for 100%, currently on 87.9% and still loving the game!

Okay so I just had a whore killing epiphany. I went by a woman who was stranded with her stage coach, only to be ambushed. This was the second time this has happened to me and the first time I died. This time I get them all, and I hog tie her. But I wasn't going to take time out of day and detour just to find a train. I was on my way to Thieves Landing and I remembered that there is shallow water around there. It's deep enough to stand in without drowing. So I dropped her off in there and she died instantly.
She kind of hit the water like she was going to float on it, then almost a second later she just dropped to the bottom, stone dead.
There are a lot of spoiler tags in this thread; I'll contribute.
[sp]After completing the game I was going for xbl achievements with Jack, and I have to say he was poorly made. If you repeat actions some times Johns voice will come up rather then Jacks. IE: Skinning, horse shoes, poker, etc...[/sp]

What the shit, I headed over to Tumbleweed to check out this ghost thing, I shot out all the lights in the basement and heard nothing, no talking or anything but I see a dead man on the ground and I look down to loot him and I see 2 dark holes in his face, his eye sockets, he had no eyes and his nose was stretched up between them, I ran out side and seen this on another man but he had no eyes and his nose was streched over his mouth

If a player gets a high enough bounty, they become a bounty target, and everyone is told to go kill them. I think you get a lot of experience points if you kill them.
Finished the story about 2 hours ago. I'm still shaking a little.
