Are you sure you're in the right area?
There's a Bear area and a Cougar area.
The Bear area has destroyed cabins, the Cougar should have 1 good condition cabin, near a stream / river.

The destroyed cabin area you're thinking of would be Bearclaw camp. Tanner's Reach, where you can find Khan the Jaguar, is toward the river. And I'm finding bears there. Which leads me to think that animal spawns are random.

I have never seen a Racoon in this game yet I got the achievement "Unnatural Selection" yesterday. :wtc:
Just look on the map that came with the game and look for a cougar symbol. Go there. There's actually quite a few places you can go that aren't in the mountains. You don't have to worry about bears either.
I went to the area south of Blackwater. There should be a picture of some boars on the map in game. They seemed to appear more often at night.
Good fucking God, autoaim still ruins multiplayer in this game, especially when there are 10 people posses running around killing everyone
Now I have second thoughts about finishing the story. I just got into blackwater so I'm not sure exactly how far I am from finishing. The spoilers are almost too tempting.

yeah, but they are hard to spot, just listen for rattling and look hard, it means there is one nearby

Completed the game. [sp] If John had died in a more subtle way (shot in head from behind, unexpected, one shot) I would have been happier, but tons of soldiers shooting him at once, and the gore and noise he was emitting really made me sad[/sp]

I got it when it came out. And really I'm terrible at completing games. Which is why I figured other people would be on 100%. Then again, I haven't been able to play the multiplayer yet.

On multiplayer, I haven't been playing the singleplayer but for multiplayer, yes.
The max level is 50 and you can do something like prestige on CoD but it's called Legend or Legendary or something.
Really good multiplayer. ^_^

Also, does anyone know if towns are supposed to change if you kill everyone in them? Pre-release, Rockstar were saying that if you killed everyone in a town, it becomes a ghost town. Are you supposed to see a difference or were they just stating the obvious?
