You have to go through all 9 other levels of the Hunter challenge (which includes Meleeing two cougars and in another challenge meleeing a bear) before you get the chance to hunt 3 unique, named animals.

I saw an owl once, surprised how much wildlife there is in this game, I still havn't gotten the achievement for killing all types of wildlife >:

I've been wanting a TV series based in the old west for a long time.. RDR would have been great.
I was playing the mission in tall trees where you have to climb that mountain and half way up there I just stop and admire to scenery, when a fucking cougar comes and tackles me off the edge.
When do you unlock Tall Trees or basically that whole area north of Thieves landing?

Oh, FUCK that cougar, it actually managed to kill me twice. First time i skinned the dead ram lying there, without thinking about what could have killed it, but as i skinned it the cougar jumped at me. The second time he appeared BEHIND me somehow.

I was sitting there, watching my little skinning cut scene while I skinned the bighorn, and outta fuckin' nowhere I get pounced by a cougar.

North of MacFarlane, I did some hunting and ended up having to fend off like 10 pairs of Cougars one after another, then i went up to tall trees for a break from them and ended up facing six pairs of bears one after the other.
I watched the IGN video thing on the dashboard last night and it got me thinking, does anyone actually use that auto aim thing? Apparently mine is on expert aim or something.
I use the default because I suck at aiming with a controller.

I use Expert, it adds to the realism for me, that and I don't like the game aiming for me, cause I've had experiences where it's fucked me over.

I don't get the sharpshooting rank 4 challenge. "Shoot 5 coyotes before they attack you". Does that mean I have to shoot them when they're chasing me, and haven't attacked me yet?
Because I've tried that more than 5 times and for some reason it's only down as doing it once in my challenge menu.

Nope, they don't have to be chasing you.
Bear in mind Coyotes look VERY much like the other dog like animals in the game, are you 100% positive you're killing Coyotes?

Later on in the game, near the end.
When I found the buffalo herd, I wasn't aware that you got an achievement for killing them all, I just wanted to see if I could ride one, so I just lassoed one of them and failed to ride it, and the rest of the herd was gone. This is 4 real life days ago and I haven't seen but one buffalo in the game since.. Does this mean that I won't be able to get the achievement?
Leave one alive. I got an achievement for killing them all but I wish I'd left at least one so I could watch it roam :'(

Hoorah, I bought it, luckily the store that yesterday told me they were gonna get it in tomorrow weren't being idiots, so they had it and I ordered it, should get here friday, maybe tomorrow since it's same-day despatch if ordered before 5:30pm
I just want to know, is it possible to be really good at aiming on this? Like without using dead eye, because watching westerns where the main character is like legendary at aiming his six shooter, that's so awesome, and I want to imitate it. Or are the gun physics not realistic enough to make gun-aiming a skillful activity?
