This is being listed as the "Storm" Jackal. However, I think it's just the normal, redesigned Jackal. I've gotta say, I rather like it. I'm starting to think Storm may be a faction, probably the Covenant we're fighting in Halo 4. The group from Glasslands. There's too many references to the word Storm that don't quite fit in with it being used as a tactical moniker ("Storm Rifle" is one thing, but "Storm Jackal", and a few other references, are another). [editline]3rd August 2012[/editline] The article from whence it came: http://www.littleenglishhaloblog.com/2012/08/new-characters-revealed-via-halo-4.html
I dont think the faction from Glasslands is this faction, I dont think they had hostilities towards humans they just wanted to carry on worshiping the forerunners like they did before The Covenant was formed. [editline]4th August 2012[/editline]
I'm away in the uk
Where exactly? [editline]4th August 2012[/editline]
The Jackal reminds me more of a lizard then a bird, like some dinosaurs like raptors, a lizard with feathers. Then again, modern birds are believed to have evolved from Dinosaurs.
I think they're described as avian like because of their darting body movements. [editline]4th August 2012[/editline]
What if Storm is a subcategory of Covenant? Perhaps made up of different breeds of each species.
Nah their faction is probably called "Storm of blahdeblahcovenantreligousgibberish" so their just called Storm for short. Thats my theory anyway.
So can you say if the vehicles are stronger or less resistant to bullets unlike their papier mache counterparts in Reach
Not really sure yet TBH, the only time I was being shot it in the hog was small arms fire.
Not really sure yet TBH, the only time I was being shot it in the hog was small arms fire.
Well if you didn't die then they're already stronger than Reachs.
I think it's actually been proven that in-game voice chat can destroy a Warthog in Reach.
We should get a group together for a Reach Legendary run some time.
We should get a group together for a Reach Legendary run some time.
If so, then count me in.
We should get a group together for a Reach Legendary run some time.
Im up for that.
Where exactly?
Near Darlington. Least I've got Olympus to keep me occupied. :/
I may have someone a former bungie employee interested in working as lead programmer of my company. Is 350k a year worth having a bungie employee?
Near Darlington. Least I've got Olympus to keep me occupied. :/
Ah right, no where near me then.

Flimsy things that snap in half when you throw a paperweight at them.
Oh come on, Jackas are bird-like creatures, not some bloody dinosaurs. Flimsy things that snap in half when you throw a paperweight at them.
I still see the avian in them. They're still spiny, sinuous creatures. Just with a bit more of a bulky neck. They still look, to me, like if you punched them, they'd break every bone in their body.
I actually agree, I like it. Its a very risky design on 343's part but it looks like they have that balance of avian/dinosaur that the previous iterations had. They're still really skinny and obviously very nimble, but I love how much more menacing they appear.
they kinnda look a bit like raptors now. raptors with sniper rifles :tinfoil:
I didn't think it was possible to make Jackals uglier but by God did they do it
there hasn't been a Halo Bulletin in a week. Wonder why.
I bet it was the sniper raptors.
I think that the Covenant are splitting into tribes such as the Servants of Abiding Truth and the so called "Storm". Halo has a lot of Bible references and could possibly reference the 12 Tribes of Israel. The Covenant could possibly split into 12 tribes.
Bible references? Like what? And don't say Master Chief represents Jesus because you could say that about the protagonist of almost any video game
The bible references have purely been coincidental, similar to portal 2 being entirely similar to that one story, 343 drive story based on how well it does, not to fit it into what the bible says. And the covenant are decimated, I'm sure earth has cleared up the stragglers and sent them back to their world and apart from the remaining "rebels" they're not exactly a strong force any more.

Do you know anything about the Covenant during and after Halo 3? [editline]5th August 2012[/editline]
Bible references? Like what? Actually, Portal 2 and that greek myth was intentional, if only evidenced by that painting which contained the same person from the greek one. [editline]5th August 2012[/editline] WELL, MY NIGHT IS FUCKING RUINED. http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Parisa

Or at least that's how they describe him in Fall of Reach.
But I thought Master Chief was weird in a way were he only sees people in 3 ways: Ally, Enemy, Officer. Or at least that's how they describe him in Fall of Reach.
He's without a doubt one of, if not the most, hyper disciplined soldier in existence. Possibly ever. But he's still human. One of the more subtle themes in Halo is the immorality of the SPARTAN-II program, and what it did to those in it. He was trained to forget his normal life, disregard notions of sexuality and personal relationships, and to be a weapon- first and foremost. That can do hell to a person, and in that situation, it made him damn near crack. As we've seen, SIIs still have strong, individualistic personalities, and in Glasslands, it was suggested that many (IE, the remaining few that aren't the Chief) of them are starting to realize what's happened to them over the years, and feeling a bit mixed about Halsey's involvement in the program. The SIIIs, in turn, are more human than the SIIs. They were taken into the program as volunteers and augmented much later on than the SIIs, and to a much lesser degree. It's implied that makes them somewhat less capable than the SIIs, but the clear result is that it makes them more like people and less like walking tanks.
If only 343 or at least Bungie went ahead and ported the dang games to PC already.
Not to mention that it was a lot cheaper to mass produce SIII's that way. you know honestly I'd like a reintroduction of a love interest or some shit seeing as it's already been formed in the story, it'd be a cool little change of tone other than "arcade shooter with a cool sci-fi story"

Not an overt love interest (that just doesn't fit in with the Chief), but something in the background. Something that a player can piece together as having happened, but isn't currently occurring or driving anything forward. See, in my mind, the Spartan II program had to have experienced some teenage deviancy. I mean, for fucks sake, they had dozens of kids being kept in close quarters for years. I know the whole "super soldier training" thing makes the situation different, but I'd imagine some shit would have went down at some point.

Wouldn't that make them more expensive? Honestly I don't think Halo really needs a love story I mean the whole Linda thing was bad enough.
