1080 Version of that "Working at 343" if anyone cares, was just uploaded on Halowaypoint's youtube page

Also, in 1080p you can clearly tell its Halo 4 on the monitor at the bottom left around 24-28 seconds.
I think I also saw a Canadian Flag in the same shot middle right.
Well, nice one 343.
I leave Halo for a few months and come back to everything plastered with that damn TU.
I hope 343 didn't fuck it up too much.
[editline]21st March 2012[/editline]
Had a decent match in BTB.
It's been too long since I played. Can't tell if I was playing like Reach was actually designed with a few adjustments or a version that was made for the vocal minority that wanted Reach to be Halo 3.5

Pretty sure not everything has the TU features.
Because the March updated mentioned something about separate playlists with the TU
So lemme get this straight, [sp]In the Halo universe, humans a million years ago used to be an advanced spacefaring race rivalling the Forerunners until they pissed them off somehow, which led to a war which in turn led to humans being literally beaten back to the stone age?[/sp]

[sp]Nah they did that because The Flood returned to the milky way and humans were the only ones who knew how to stop them, but thats where the Forerunners fucked up, they had already de-evolved the humans into rock banging savages, so they built halo to kill everything and starve them[/sp]
Fucking Forerunners
And then a quick 2 minute job on paint for the ongoing topic...

Wow this thread has gone back far.
Lets get a discussion going, favorite book what did you like about it and what didnt you like about it?
Mine is Contact Harvest, mainly because it shows where it all started and I enjoyed following the story of Johnson, I wasn't a fan of the parts with the prophets however as I found their parts dragged out for far too long and I found it a bit boring to follow.

Actually, there's more to this as of Primordium.
Huge Primordium spoilers below.
[sp]Humanity did fight a war against the Flood prior to devolution (can't believe spell check isn't flagging that), and won. Thing is, now the Flood won't target them. From what I got from Primordium, the Flood is selective. Humanity earned the Mantle and the right to survive alongside it. The Forerunners didn't. So the Flood will either kill them or be beaten back, meaning the Forerunners will have earned the right to exist.[/sp]
At least, that's what I make of it. Primordium was rather confusing.

Apparently, the Prophets are huge stoners.
I'd have to go with Ghosts of Onyx. Kurt's an awesome character (Chief with a personality) and the entire plot as a whole was pretty great. Some spectacular battles, too (Battle of Onyx in orbit, Sentinel Factory, the Battle of the Core Room).
You can't really give the chief a personality though, he is an extension of the player so by forcing his character onto the player the characters feel less like-able.
Gears of War is a good example of this rule, I can't stand Marcus and they're always forcing his personality on you.

Ah I see, havent picked up Primordium yet.
I loved Ghosts of Oynx, although I havent finished Glasslands yet im enjoying it so far, I prefer the parts with the spartans over the parts with the ODSTs however.
Warhouse preview:
You look to the left and see nothing but industrial, man-made surfaces. A glance to the right, however, reveals space as far as the eye can see. As you wander around one of the exposed platforms on a mysterious mining ship, you become captivated by the dramatic vista.
After working your way through the numerous levels, stairs, and crates that litter the outer deck, you sneak a furtive glance inside the spacecraft, which reveals the sounds and shape of a half-constructed mech. Curiosity gets the better of you, and you decide to venture down the vessel’s tight and twisted corridors for a closer look.
We hope you have a weapon because if your experience is anything like ours, you’re going to need it.
By the way, welcome to Warhouse.
The original concept for Warhouse (which is a working title and not the final name) was to build a smaller level catered to Slayer. It was born from the idea that a symmetrical map doesn't have to be generic. We wanted it to feel like something memorable, from an interesting and unseen part of the Halo universe, that tells a story.
We explored several ideas for the theme, including a space platform, a spooky science experiment, and a jungle-bound UNSC facility for bio research. We settled on the space-platform idea, which eventually evolved into a stratospheric gas–mining ship. This idea offered not only more explanation for gravity, but also greater opportunities for orienting players.
Inspiration for this map came from a wide variety of places, including oil refineries, giant mechs from films and cartoons, NASA imagery of gas giants, naval shipyards, and aircraft carriers, to name a few. We also referenced numerous well-developed sci-fi places throughout its development.
Because Warhouse is a symmetrical map, our greatest challenge was making sure players know where they are at any given point, and yet having it make sense as an inspiring visual story. There are lots of complex mirrored paths which could be overwhelming, so we had to develop landmarks and key features to give players a sense of unique position.
Adding another layer of complexity to situational awareness was the fact that this map is made entirely of man-made surfaces, with no terrain. Answers came in the form of symmetrical design elements that fit within each side’s geometry and convince players that each side is visually very different.
We wanted this playspace to be similar competition-wise to older symmetrical maps in previous Halos, so we sought influence from those, and also from the industrial close-quarters combat in more recent games. There are many paths from the center room, allowing you to surprise opponents from unexpected directions and separate them from their comrades. There are also numerous over-and-under pathways that can be used to sneak up behind opponents who are holding their ground. Since this map is symmetrical, one team doesn't have an advantage over the other based on where they spawn or what part of the map they control.
If you are a fan of small-team, close-quarters combat, or you love wreaking havoc with effective, close-range infantry weapons, Warhouse is for you. If you’re not a fan of small-team, close-quarters combat, or you don’t love wreaking havoc with effective,
close-range infantry weapons, Warhouse is still for you. You’ll see. In Holiday 2012, of course. :)
awesome.
Hello. Most of you may not know me because I don’t usually post in these fourm’s. Well, I am The SuperWaffle, apart of the Physics Remastered glitch team, and just a avid player of Halo. Anyways, the reason I am here at this moment is to tell you I am at the brink of insanity. I have spent more then a combined total of 59 hours (yes I counted) of game time of trying a launch on the Halo Reach map “Tip of the Spear”. I will get into this later, and the reward too. But first, let me explain the backround of the launch.
Sometime around July. Me and Project Zer0 ( Founder of Hold X To Trick, another glitching group) were trying to find a way to fly the falcon on Tip of the Spear. While we were trying this, we were in the beginning of the map where the first AA gun is. We skipped over a loading point that loads the enemies by getting out of the map in the beginning. What this means is that the pelican that drops off the bridge is actually parked right here at this point,

And this is where we had a idea.
Anyways, Remember that load point that I skipped? Well, if you hit that point, what happens is that the pelicans goes into a position in the air outside of the map. So I had a idea of using this as a launch and see if I could actually land anywhere. I realized that I could launch from the pelican, and land back on the same pelican in the air outside the map.
The reason that this happens is because Bungie was trying to make you not notice it. Imagine your going through the map normally. What happens to the pelican is that during the beginning, it is staying parked at the position shown earlier. Then when you make your way to the AA gun, it moves yet again outside the map in the air. Then when you destroy the AA gun, it moves one more time back at the starting position to drop off the bridge. The reason it goes to so many different places is because Bungie is trying to not let you see the pelican before your supposed to. What they didn’t know when they were making the map though is that people could get outside their map. So when you go outside the map and go to the parked pelican, the game technically still thinks your in the beginning area. So when someone hits the loading point while your on the pelican, it launches you amazingly high, one of the highest and fastest launches ever done in any halo game I think.
Anyways, one thing led to another and I was left trying this launch. During the early months of January and February, I was just pluckering around grasping at straws for some ideas of how to semi-control this launch. I wasn’t even getting close, all I was doing was just going straight up and hitting the ceiling barrier (the wall at the top of the map that indicate the end of the map. There is no way to phycicaly break this in player mode.) So somehow I needed to get the right arc and trajectory for myself to land on the pelican. Kinda like this So I decided to use the warthog. I would put it on the edge of the wing, would shoot it so I would be launched sideways instead of just up, and I would hit the loading point with my guest. This was the point where I started to get close. Here’s one of my attempts of it. I’ve gotten closer and as close as this a lot, but most of it is in the 15 hour film, and I really don’t feel like looking for it. xD
Now that you know and have a backround of what the launch is, this is where I need your help. I have been trying this launch for the last three months to no avail. I have it 95% done, All I need now is that 5% luck factor. And after a 15 hour game, I realized that I do not have this luck. I also think that I am victim of tunnel vision. Sometimes, especially in high pressure situations, we become so focused on finding a solution to the task at hand that we neglect our common senses. In addition, having a game plan doesn't help either, especially when under pressure, because we end up depending on the game plan too much. I had made plans to use the warthog to land this launch, and I followed it until the end. However, sometimes we need to abandon or adjust the game plan on the spot, which may be very difficult under pressure and if we have been doing it for so long. Having new people attempt this can lead to people having fresh ideas and new approaches. Like maybe using a broken piece of a attentae or using the ghost.
Also, It seems to me that most people wouldn’t find flying in the air at thousands of mile per hour interesting, which made me consider a reward. Whoever completes this launch by using the pelican, and makes it by themselves, no spawning someone up there or using armor lock, will be rewarded with a 1600 Microsoft point card. I also think this might be a great way to bring the community as a whole together and accomplish this goal. Like the Secret AR did 3 years ago. Anyways, im gonna need to explain how to do it, so let me do that now.
*TUTORIAL*
First thing your gonna have to do is at least have 2 people. A guest would be preferable. Now make sure you have the “Tilt “and “cowbell” skulls on. Now start up the game. Continue a little bit now and grab the Concussion Rifle from the elite here. When you do that, kill everyone around this area. When the pelican shows up, grab it and park it next to this rock here
Next, enter and exit the warthog, this should give you a CP (checkpoint) your gonna want to do this periodically. For setting up on the pelican, and even setting up your guest as close to the loading point without hitting it. Now when you get the CP, concussion the warthog up the rock. If you don’t get it don’t worry! Just try it again. When you get up here, have yourself go up this rock using the warthog, and get out of the warthog, you should be able to jump, which means your out of the map. If you need more help, watch the beginning of this video
When your out of the map, kill your guest and make your way up the hill and outside the map. Use this video as a reference point. Go where I go at 1:15 and go till you get to 1:28. Now do you see the pelican down there? Good, now your gonna need to drop down on top of the pelican with your warthog. Get a CP, and set up the warthog EXACTLY like this. If your player goes a little to the right or left, shoot one bullet out of your AR to slightly move the warthog. Just use basic physics. If your going to far to the left, shoot the back right side and etc. when you finally get it in position, this is where you need your guest.
Now with one of your guys on the perfectly positioned warthog, have your guest move to the AA gun and back through the map till you get to this point. DO NOT MOVE ANYMORE WITHOUT A CP, BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE YOU TRIGGER THE LOADING POINT I MENTIONED EARLIER! Now when everyone is in their right spots, get a CP.
Now here comes the tricky part. With the guy on the warthog, shoot it downwards like your shooting it off the pelican. Now at the same time, have your guest hit the loading zone. It might take a couple of tries to get the timing correct, but when you do, you should have a good chance and good launches.
Now if you were confused by anything I said, just ask, or follow this film and download it. http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/FileDetails.aspx?fid=27504798&player=The%20SuperWaffle This will show you how to set it up, some launches, and show exactly what I said in the tutorial. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you look at the film because it shows everything in detail and it explains a lot better then my words ever could. Anyways, while you nice lads and gals are attempting this, I will be attempting this as well. When I get my webcam working, I'm gonna stream my attempts and put them on some streaming sites. When I have that, i’ll update you guys on it and let you know.
Once more, if anyone has any questions on anything, just post here or contact me through my gamertag “The SuperWaffle” I will be constantly looking in this thread to answer any questions. And you guys should just post to ask questions, share ideas, and to just help out. Remember that there is a prize, but the most important thing is to have fun.
Tl:Dr: I explained a launch in campaign I was trying in Reach’s “Tip of the Spear”, A tutorial on how to do it, and the prize of 1600 Microsoft points.
A huge good luck for everyone attempting this massive feet. Your gonna need it. :D
