I haven't read a Halo book since First Strike, and holy shit am I behind.
And another thing, won't Chief be considered obsolete by the time of Halo 4 since the newer Spartan IV would probably have better armor and combat skills and are much cheaper to train?
No, thats like saying the Spartan IIIs are better because they're newer. Spartan IIs will always be the best its just too unethical and expensive, and an Spartan IV wouldnt have better combat skills, Spartan IIs have been training since they were 6. The Spartan IVs are just the UNSCs way of making Spartans quickly and legally. [editline]2nd October 2012[/editline]
Just a question. How the hell will Masterchief know how to pilot the mantis when he has been away for 4 years in space. A guy won't know how to drive a boat just because he knows how to fly a plane. I know that the mantis is probably the newest addition to the UNSC. Chief might probably never seen it until Halo 4
I have a feeling the Mantis is the Spartan version of the Cyclops Mark II, and somehow works side by side with the MJOLNIR, while the larger Cyclops Mark II that we have seen is for Marines. The Mantis looks too small to be able to fit a whole cockpit on controls in there, while the Cyclops Mark II easily could.
What? No, how many times do we have to go over this before you understand!? For starters the fall of Reach happened less than 6 months before the final events of Halo 3, so calling that technology old as hell is just fucking retarded. Secondly the Technology of reach was prototype technology and new tech of both new and returning technology of the Halo universe. The war is over, R&D continued , prototypes are hit final stages, mass production, distribution. Just like how stuff works in the real world.
I guess your right about somethings but not everything in Halo: Reach was a prototype and it wouldn't hurt to make a few new models.

Halo 1 through 3 had a steadily evolving sandbox, everything in the next game looked like an update on the last.
the Mongoose is the same design, and could have been based on the model from Reach, at least, not exactly the same, the model is overall smoother, more polygons added to same parts, although the wheel models seems to be less detailed then the reach model [t]http://www.halopedia.org/images/b/bd/H4-Mongoose.png[/t] [t]http://www.halopedia.org/images/a/a6/HReach-M274-Mongoose-ULATV-Front.png[/t]
Which mongoose is from which game?
Which mongoose is from which game?
Top is from 4, bottom is from Reach.
Which mongoose is from which game?
If you looked at their UNSC symbols that would have told you (or hell even the file names) The top one is Halo 4, bottom one is Reach. [editline]2nd October 2012[/editline] Oh god damn, that is what I get for not refreshing after opening the page 5 minutes ago.

They look identical to me. Which is why I asked.
Why do you expect me to look at the symbols, or the file names? They look identical to me. Which is why I asked.
I thought it was common sense to figure it out yourself before asking. Also the textures are completely different between the two.
I don't see the big dig deal, 3 vehicles are modeled after and or uses the base asset from Reach. It's not the asset is identical, it's higher res, more detailed. Why waste the money on resources on building an asset you already have? Doesn't look like an excuse or 343 being lazy, if they wanted a new asset, they would have built a new one just like everything else in the game.
What is missing from the Halo 4 Mongoose render is detail textures, the texture quality is about the same as Reach, but it looks worse because it doesn't have detail textures applied to it. [editline]2nd October 2012[/editline] Have some Halo 4 Flood And a Map Walk through/
that whole +10 Melee in the middle of your screen looks so annoying
Wouldn't most of the prototype tech from Reach be kind of obsolete now that Humans are mixing their vehicles, weapons and tech with Forerunner and Covenant tech?
Wouldn't most of the prototype tech from Reach be kind of obsolete now that Humans are mixing their vehicles, weapons and tech with Forerunner and Covenant tech?
Not really, only so much you can do in the timespan. And anyways most of the vehicles would be the same, I don't want any more things in this game to be reskins. [editline]2nd October 2012[/editline] Could someone help me find a video? It has two people both playing a keyboard/piano version of a song from the Halo 2 soundtrack. Forgot what song, but the video had a man and woman both playing from what I remember.
This is a Forge World concept I drew. It's heavily influenced by the Halo 3 level, The Covenant, in terms of environment and flow.
And a Map Walk through/
Definitely the most beautiful Multiplayer map I've seen yet. It's so PURPLE!
ComboTroop (if anyone remembers that bro) wonders if the LE edition of Halo 4 comes with all pre-order content, including armour, emblems, weapon skins, etc. Does it?
ComboTroop (if anyone remembers that bro) wonders if the LE edition of Halo 4 comes with all pre-order content, including armour, emblems, weapon skins, etc. Does it?
Where is he these days? Sadly to say it doesn't.
Where is he these days? Sadly to say it doesn't.
lurkinnn Okay well he still reads this so I probably don't need to pass that message on. Is there any other way to get all of the pre-order content at once? Do you think it'll be released as DLC someday?

Like I said, saying that reach was all prototype tech is a lazy excuse for reusing assets, when they clearly have no problem redoing everything else for no reason.
Lazy, yeah. I personally don't care though, they look good and that's all that matters.
Hmm? Flood assassination? I wonder what that'll be.
Hmm? Flood assassination? I wonder what that'll be.
Lots'a biting maybe?

Okay so since I finally got halo wars in yesterday I've played through quite a bit of it and I have to say, the missions are more annoying than anything. I mean, half of them consist of me babysitting or trying to beat the friggin clock! One mission had me clear out 3 areas so that pelicans can pick up squads in each location. This was annoying because all of my strategies up till that point did not account for a 17 minute time limit and once I found out there were 4 beacons that needed to be EMP'd I had lost twice. One time I lost literally during the final stretch. I thought I was doing good! so on the third playthrough I took over the beacons and when the level was done I had 22 minutes remaining. SERIOUSLY!? You make me clear paths to three locations each containing buildings that regenerate over time with armies that outnumber and often over power my own. And you have the nerve to have nearly 15 extra minutes taunting me because I don't have the time or luxury of scouting out ahead while I defend my base!? AND Once all of that is done, the last group decides they want to walk the rest of the way anyways which takes at least 5 minutes and for what!? What was so god damned special about that last group!? I got 2 out of 3, the last group didn't want that pelican, they can fuck off and die! I hate annoying escort missions!

The campaign is more annoying than enjoyable. And then skirmish, HA forget about it. Super easy. Rush Spartans. Destroy everything.
First thing I am going to do is play forge because holy fuck they made it even better
