The reason I brought it up is because I once tried to remake Yoyorast in Reach and build it into the terrarian.. I got a good portion of the track layout finished, but I ran out of budget as I was going, and I dislike Reach so much that I never really tried to optimize/finish it. The race gametype in reach wasn't anything like the traditional Race type, anyway.
Coldsnap was pretty cool. It's probably one of the biggest maps ever made for a game from the early 2000's.

It was a bit too big in my opinion. At least for an 8v8 anyways. It took a few full minutes to cross even with the fastest vehicle and because it was so big it was pretty undetailed. Can't say I didn't enjoy nuking everything with longswords or going on a betrayal spree with the 1HKO sniper though.

8 versus 8 does sound kind of small for that map. Wasn't the max team size 16? Most of the battles in the map tended to take place in a few key areas, with dogfights going on everywhere else. Or at least that's what I found.
Going for a longsword and somebody gets there before you? Hit him with C4 as he flies over your head and out of the hanger.

Halo's MP has always had a max player cap of 16, which means 8v8 teams at most. Really, those big maps were pretty enjoyable, but they were just too big for Halo since they never got past the 16 maximum. The maps would be better suited for 16v16, but even then there were a lot of overpowered vehicles and weapons. This is the exact reason why people should stop complaining about there not being Phantoms + Pelicans in Halo's MP, because once you've played Halo CE on Coldsnap/Extinction you'll quickly see that they have absolutely no place in a competitive 8v8 shooter.

I could have sworn that Halo 1 had a cap of 32. And even though Pelicans and Phantoms might not fit in with the standard competitive shooter experience today, they sure as hell were fun.
On another note, what the hell is up with this ghosting in the Ragnarok video? I hope it was a side-effect of them rendering the video after recording, as opposed to how the game actually looks.

They would basically only be massive killing machines or giant flying overkills.

Last time I saw an affect like that it was caused by frame rate drop, haven't seen that in months though.

If it's in the game and just a video rendering problem it's probably there to help render textures.
Also anyone else kind of hoping that 343i moves away from 8 vs 8 and goes for something bigger like a 32 player cap?

yeah there's a lot of skins the one in the picture is the UNSC skin for the carbine.

If that's the case, hopefully they were using a dev build or something similar in that video that was causing the frame rate to drop.

Ghosting and motion blur are both post-process effects, they don't help render textures.
