I've read some very positive impressions on Ghosts of Onyx and now I want to read it. Should I start with the earlier books or can I jump right in? My memories on Halo 1 and 2 are a bit fuzzy too
read in this order of you want info just for halo 4 The Fall Of Reach Contact Harvest Ghosts of Onyx Glasslands Cryptum Primordium and The Thursday War
read in this order of you want info just for halo 4 The Fall Of Reach Contact Harvest Ghosts of Onyx Glasslands Cryptum Primordium and The Thursday War
Uhh, wouldn't it make more sense to read Contact Harvest before The Fall Of Reach?
I read them all in the order they came out
Contact: Harvest was really the only good book and The Cole Protocol was alright.
Contact: Harvest was really the only good book and The Cole Protocol was alright.
I'm reading primordium right now, its pretty good. So is Cryptium
I'm reading primordium right now, its pretty good. So is Cryptium
Yeah I didn't really like the idea of those since I prefer the Forerunners to be a mystery and I didn't like what they did to them.
Contact: Harvest was really the only good book and The Cole Protocol was alright.
I find that funny because I thought Contact: Harvest was complete shit. Even worse than Halo: The Flood; that one was at least entertaining (if not also horribly written). Stay ignorant and bliss, it's not like we're forcing a gun to your head to read them.

I thought Contact: Harvest was pretty great since it was written by one of the creators of Halo. I also enjoyed the writing style more than Nylund's. How am I being Ignorant? I Preferred when the Forerunners were cool because you didn't really know that much about them other then them liking Humans for some reason.
First ever ~pr0~ montage of Halo 4 too bad it's the worst montage ever Seriously though, that ending is just hysterical.
Do they work without shitty response times?
Really late, but I've had an xim2+xim3 since it came out and it's great in Halo 3 and Reach. The biggest problems with Reach are the 30fps cap and low turn speed that comes with that to reduce screen tearing. You get used to the fps quickly though, it's way better than a controller for me :v: It's also much better than say, the xfps sniper 3 as it maps the controller movement to the mouse movement to get a more '1:1' sort of feel. It's also better for higher DPI mice and not great for people who do flick shots. It is pretty expensive but smart translators come out for new games in ~42 hours of them being released and they're completely free too. You can also make a more generic standard translator for other games. The xbox controller still works too, so you can pick it up to drive vehicles and such. And some interesting things from the xim forums:
- frame rate looks nice. Very smooth (no 60, but not reach's 20-30. Looks solid 30) - great AA solution. This is good for everyone - aiming is good and crisp. So maybe the wonky accel is toned down from 3-reach - most notably........the max sens seems to have increased. Players that used 5 in reach had to go down to 3 or 4
i really hope the sensitivity is infact increased because that was my major problem with reach and using my XIM edge, i've played CS and quake for years so i'm just naturally a twitch shooter and being confined to moving as slow as the 360 controller makes it INCREDIBLY difficult for me. here's hoping it's actually better for halo 4

I usually play on 9, I know it's not as fast as PC games but it helps.
Contact: Harvest was really the only good book and The Cole Protocol was alright.
I prefer the books that aren't about Chief, I see him enough in the games, I think thats why I like Glasslands and The Thursday War so much.
Have you tried playing on 10 sensitivity? I usually play on 9, I know it's not as fast as PC games but it helps.
what of course i have, i have it on 10 sensitivity and that's literally 1/4 as fast as i have it on the PC, and i hit the turn cap in less than an inch of moving my mouse. it's not even close to 1:1 movement and it's really clunky

I play with a relatively low sensitivity (~47cm per 360) so I found it easier to adapt to the slow sensitivity.
Yeah, it's not really good for twitch players. I play with a relatively low sensitivity (~47cm per 360) so I found it easier to adapt to the slow sensitivity.
yeah i pumped up the sensitivity as high as it could go ingame and also on the XIM, so i the initial turning feels closer to what i use on the PC, but as soon as i try to do small movements it's incredibly jittery and hard to aim. i'm hoping halo 4 will be easier for me to adapt, right now i'm just sticking with the controller for reach
I am planning on getting a XIM EDGE, any idea if I should?
Think ima just stick to my razer Onza. Need to exchange it though. I broke one of the tension sticks one druken and or stoned night a few weeks back.
I am planning on getting a XIM EDGE, any idea if I should?
Either one is great, XIM Edge is the more recently released product and much cheaper, I like XIM3's easy binding screen but in the end the same goal is accomplished.
Anyone else hope that by Halo 5 or 6 we'll see some UNSC prototypes that combine Human, Forerunner and Covenant tech together? Like a new rifle or something?
Anyone else hope that by Halo 5 or 6 we'll see some UNSC prototypes that combine Human, Forerunner and Covenant tech together?
Not really. But I'm also one of the people who didn't want to see [sp]Johns face[/sp] but I guess 343i decided that was a good idea.
Oh god please don't remind me.
wait what?
wait what?
Massive Halo 4 spoiler above don't click if you don't want something major to be spoiled.
I got the [sp]Chief's face[/sp] bit, no pics please, but seriously, that happened?
I got the [sp]Chief's face[/sp] bit, no pics please, but seriously, that happened?
Yeah, it happened.
Yeah, it happened.
[sp]Tell me, is it at least handled well?[/sp]
[sp]Tell me, is it at least handled well?[/sp]
[sp] I don't really know how it happened but I'm guessing they did it in a way that it was a throwback to Halo 1, still sucks though[/sp]
[sp]Tell me, is it at least handled well?[/sp]
[sp]You don't even see his whole face, all you see is his eyes and a very small area around them.[/sp]
[sp]all you see Is his eyes, barely ANY of his face, just eyes around the area around them. And then again you barely see his eyes either they're dark[/sp]
[sp] that's still to much [/sp]
