if all they cared about money the Spartan Ops missions and the companion animated series wouldn't be free. Actually I'm not sure of the animated series is free or not. But Spartan Ops missions are.
That's a really cynnical way to look at things. If money was the only thing that mattered, they would release very bare-bones video games. They would look for the bare minimum that people would dish out money for and then give them that. Obviously they're aiming to make us happy and stuff. If the game was solely being made for money and literally nothing else mattered, it wouldn't be an enjoyable game.
You missed my point. Sure they are trying to please a group of people, but they still need to make money. They will charge for map packs after launch, and only "season" 1 of Spartan ops is free. Just remember who is the publisher.

I didn't know that Microsoft had any sort of reputation for ripping off it's fans.
Uh, Microsoft? I didn't know that Microsoft had any sort of reputation for ripping off it's fans.
Yeah, this isn't their model for releases. They're more likely to let the community do missions in Forge and release them individually then they are to charge per season. Map packs, definitely. I foresee around 3 or 4 of them, as with Reach and 3, but Spartan Ops is likely to be much more intricate and less expensive.
Uh, Microsoft? I didn't know that Microsoft had any sort of reputation for ripping off it's fans.
I never said they were ripping us off, I said Microsoft enjoys money, and if there not making money, they wouldn't make halo.
I never said they were ripping us off, I said Microsoft enjoys money, and if there not making money, they wouldn't make halo.
That kind of goes without saying... That's like saying everyone who does anything is only in it for the money. People who writes books are only in it for the money. People who make food are only in it for the money. Actors are only in it for the money. Just because someone is getting paid, and expects to get paid for providing a product, doesn't mean they don't care about anything else. I mean holy shit that's just economics 101. If you provide a product, you generally expect to be compensated for the work you did.
I never said they were ripping us off, I said Microsoft enjoys money, and if there not making money, they wouldn't make halo.
Personally I'm fine with them selling us a game and charging us for DLC. What I don't like is the whole "There's this game mode, but you have to pay to play it." Just do what Bethesda do and release a couple of big uber-DLCs, then start a new game. Y'know, maybe a new franchise? Rather than, say, taking that one modern military based FPS and flogging it until its anus turns inside out. Naming no names. Call Of Duty.

I'm kind of a big deal.
We both know if halo didn't sell microsoft would drop it.
No shit. If you spend more money than you make, you go bankrupt and end up on the street. But no you're right like they should just give out video games for free because that's how the economy works right! I hope they decide to add in the dinosaur animal life idea they had for halo originally. Nevermind the troll thing in reach, was only there for one mission which was a damn shame
You guys arguing is like 2 people arguing over non-existant slice of cake. You can argue all you want but it still stands that there's no point of discussion. By the way. The Limited Edition. The Halo 4 Limited Edition will be available at the estimated retail price of $99.99 and includes: • War Games Map Pack Access The competitive multiplayer modes of Halo 4 are known as War Games. The Limited Edition includes access to nine maps - three future competitive multiplayer map packs, each including three locations, available for download post-launch on Xbox LIVE. Yes, you read that correctly; you get nine maps in the form of future DLC with the purchase of the Halo 4 Limited Edition. Score! • Specializations Everyone will have access to select Specializations, but those that purchase the Halo 4 Limited Edition will receive the ability to unlock six Specializations early, available at launch on Xbox LIVE. You can use them, one at a time, to achieve higher ranks in your Spartan career. In addition to gaining access to new ranks, Specializations unlock new customization options. We’ll be releasing more information about Specializations at E3, so expect additional details about this particular feature then. • UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet The UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet includes a Spartan armor customization schematic, information about UNSC weapons, an introduction to the massive ship UNSC Infinity, and insight into what it means to be one of humanity’s finest warriors: The Spartan-IVs. Story lovers will especially enjoy this in-fiction offering that provides a glimpse into the indoctrination of Spartans aboard the Infinity. • Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Special Edition The Special Edition of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is a 90-minute extended version of the live-action digital series which will take fans back to the terrifying beginning of the Human/Covenant war, when the Master Chief inspired a young cadet who would eventually become a leader aboard the UNSC’s greatest vessel ever: the UNSC Infinity. Digital content also includes in-fiction bonus content that expands the characters and stories of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, special featurette Bringing Gaming into Reality, and a behind the scenes look at the making of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. • Bonus digital content through Xbox LIVE The Limited Edition includes the following bonus digital content through Xbox LIVE: unique in-game Spartan-IV armor skin, unique in-game weapon skin for the Assault Rifle, an exclusive in-game emblem, Xbox LIVE Avatar prop, and Xbox LIVE Avatar Spartan IV armor set. Right about now you may be wondering, “If all those things come with the Limited Edition, what are they going to put in the Legendary Edition?” Here is the answer to that question: There will be two options available at retail for Halo 4 - the regular version of the game and the aforementioned Limited Edition. We decided to focus our efforts on a single special edition instead of numerous ones so you wouldn’t have to pick and choose between what ancillary items you want. Now your primary choice is whether or not you just want the game, or the game along with all the goodies. And we’re hoping we made that decision an easy one for you…
Glad they're only doing 1 special edition release. More proof they're not in it for the money, if they were they would have done a legendary edition.
Please tell me there's going to be a legendary copy [editline]16th May 2012[/editline] God dammit [editline]16th May 2012[/editline] Still that case is fucking sexy
Weapon skins? Hope this doesn't go the way of GoW 3
gonna upgrade my pre order to limited edition. i was a little skeptical, but honestly it's halo so it's nowhere near as bad as when cod does something like this. although i would've preferred more physical stuff, i like all the shit it comes with for just like $40 more.
And you get all DLC, which, from the sound of it, is 3 map packs with 3 maps each. The previous mappacks containing 3 maps were $10 a piece, so if you're planning on buying the mappacks anyways there's no reason not to buy limited.
We both know if halo didn't sell microsoft would drop it.
No shit! That's how it goes with EVERYTHING product and franchise wise in existence! [editline]16th May 2012[/editline] http://penny-arcade.com/report/editorial-article/nda-signed-and-dated-the-penny-arcade-report-tours-bungie Penny Arcade's tour of Bungie's new place. Still contains many Halo things within :D
I'm excite, but I don't know if I'll get the LE. Its cool, but I'm not really in it for all the special stuff. I have the legendary edition of Halo Reach, but that is because my dad decided to change my pre-order to it and pay for it himself as a gift to me. Reach is the only game I have a special edition of that wasn't just a pre-order only limited edition thing.
I love steelbook cases so I'm definitely be getting the limited edition.
hey i just realised, we missed the tradition of page 34
Any news if the 90 minute video is a download or on a CD? I don't want to download something for a 6 year old console that's being phased out in a year.
Getting Specializations early in the Limited Edition sounds unfair, depending on what they are.
Getting Specializations early in the Limited Edition sounds unfair, depending on what they are.
Think of it similar to BC2 where you got certain guns earlier, like the tracer dart etc.
hey i just realised, we missed the tradition of page 34
Thank god.
I wouldn't mind if the LE gave more collectors items (Like Halo 3 Legendary Edition) rather than DLC season pass (Eh..... As long as it's not content that was cut from the disk to be resold as DLC later) and early advantages
