but the truth is, because it's Halo 4 that's a totally valid reason to buy it.
That's a terrible reason to buy a game. "Oh, its X so it must be good" It doesn't matter who is making it or what series it belongs to, It can be bad. So far, all 343 has done is go, "Hey, Look! Halo 4! Isn't it pretty? Buy! Buy! Buy!" [editline]dsads[/editline]
Demo's? Yes. Beta's? No. Beta nowadays turned more into a demo seeing as everyone started doing it, but at it's core it's made for testing and fine tuning to hep the company, not to give the players an early chance to play the game. I still think big multiplayer games can profit for one, but it isn't like the game will automatically suck without one.
If halo 4's multiplayer worked on the same basic rules as 2, 3 and reach, I wouldn't care. But it doesn't.

If you don't want to buy it, that's fine, but there's plenty of evidence to support the game being worthy of a purchase IMO. If you don't see it that way, that's your prerogative.
That's a terrible reason to buy a game. "Oh, its X so it must be good"
Its called having faith, you should try it sometime. [editline]27th May 2012[/editline]
Chief, the guy we all play as, stuck in space. I know halo didn't end, I'm just saying up until 343 decided to continue his story, we as players were pretty much done with him. I said reboot because that's essentially what I think it is. Every thing has been revamped into the modern age of shooters.
I think you've been listening to many people shouting "its just like COD" Look at the end of the day its not our right to tell you, you have to buy the game, I just dont think you should dismiss it so quickly, keep an eye on it, hang around here for a bit and I can garantee you'll change your mind.
Its called having faith, you should try it sometime.
Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2 did a rather good job of killing my faith that game devs can consistently score gold. [editline]27th May 2012[/editline]
I think you've been listening to many people shouting "its just like COD"
I'm all for a change. I want to know if it works. [editline]27th May 2012[/editline] Rated you optimistic because I hope you're right.
Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2 did a rather good job of killing my faith that game devs can consistently score gold.
Ok fair play. But just keep an eye on the game, we haven't seen much of it and the more I see the more Im looking forward to it, when I first saw it I thought "why are they doing this Master Chief couldn't have a story big enough to warrant a sequel" but its changed my opinion the more I see it. Just keep your eye on it, if you're a fan of the series then you owe it at least that much to give it a look.
I'm being really put off with the new direction such as changing Master Chief's armour, the Multiplayer armour and how they're bringing back the covenant. I was really expecting more from 343i but it just seems like they're trying to make Halo look like an anime.
pff, I want my Reach-esq security helm, the halo 3 one looked like a fly
Just give me my ODST helmet!
I just want them to put in the Halo 3 Scout helmet, the reach one was pretty bad compared to it.
Another super ~~legit~~ leak, now with full-length footage! Warning: For all that is Halo, MUTE YOUR SPEAKERS Filmed with the highest quality potato. [editline]27th May 2012[/editline] Wait a second, is he playing Halo 4 in a barn?
I just noticed how slow the Rocket Launcher at 06:55 shoots rockets in this footage. Granted, it is a beta. The combat looks really fast, though.
and how they're bringing back the covenant. I was really expecting more from 343i but it just seems like they're trying to make Halo look like an anime.
They're not a major part of the game
If it's not a major part of the game why bring up a stray faction of the covenant in the first place? I feel like they're going to do a lot with the covenant in Halo 4.
If it's not a major part of the game why bring up a stray faction of the covenant in the first place? Besides it provides a backstory of what has become of the Covenant races over the last three years.

They are in no way the main focus of the game, and they are going to give them a proper exit. Nobody cares what you feel, because the established facts already prove you wrong.
Wow sorry I just thought that they're going to do more then just hang around.
Perhaps you should research facts before making your own.
Perhaps you should research facts before making your own.
Perhaps you shouldn't be so fucking rude. Ass. [editline]27th May 2012[/editline] Let the guy speculate, getting adamant over facts is dumb in an industry where surprises are common.
I just realized
We have a snow level again fuck yes
I missed snow levels so so much in reach and now they're back halo 4 goty all years
Heh anyone remember that old Halo 1 crash sound? I was thinking about how I'd drive the ghost into one of those cliffs on Sidewinder and half the times it would go flying and the other half of the times it would just crash.
I just realized
We have a snow level again fuck yes
I missed snow levels so so much in reach and now they're back halo 4 goty all years
Snow levels for some reason always felt the coziest. Despite being set in cold climates they always felt warm to me, good to have them back.
because the established facts already prove you wrong.
Claiming that the assertion that Covenant are a minor component of the game is an established fact makes you look like an ass. The fact is that Covenant are in the game, so they'll have some appearance. Whether that appearance is a minor cameo or a major role in the plot is completely up in the air and you are in no position to be getting snide over wild speculation.

The Covenant play a small role in Halo 4, that is it. So you feel free to waste your time calling me an ass.
The Covenant can still play a large role and not be the main antagonist.
it has already been fucking stated that the covenant will not play a large fucking role goddamn i don't know why people are trying to argue with the people that follow the details of this fucking game religiously it's already been heavily implied at the very least that they're not in the main focus
Wanting to play the series starting with Halo. Is it worth trying to buy/rent Halo Anniversary or should I just save my money and download CMT?
Wanting to play the series starting with Halo. Is it worth trying to buy/rent Halo Anniversary or should I just save my money and download CMT?
Halo CEA is indeed worth it.
Holy SHIT
343 already said they wouldn't be main antagonists in any capacity, but we know that they'll be hostile, so saying 'The Covenant won't play a large role' is a pretty sound claim.
The Sentinels and Guilty Spark weren't main antagonists either, but they were critical to the plot and not minor present-for-one-scene cameos. There is a huge amount of leeway between the two, especially since things change on a day-to-day basis in game development so nothing is set in stone until the day it actually ships. There are a lot of ways the Covenant could play a large role in the story without being the main antagonists, and there just isn't enough information to be stating outright one way or the other.

They were just minor obstacles the Chief had to overcome. You could have easily replaced Guilty Spark with some kind of terminal, and the sentinels with more Covenant or more Flood. Guilty Spark became immensely important in 2 and 3, but my point still stands. He could have been absent from Halo 1 and it wouldn't really have been all that different for it. [editline]27th May 2012[/editline] Also the fact that the Covenant are obviously some offshoot group if they're fighting with the Chief, and we've yet to see a unique member of them, also lends credence to the whole 'they're minor' thing.
