-snip- dibs on arby btw
Sorry, my buddy Juan called dips on Arby 4 days ago.
b-but I always play arbiter....[SUB] I suppose the blue one is ok then[/SUB];_;
Ive been thinking, what if the Master Builder is the ancient evil? Hes pretty sinister and I'd be kind of pissed off if someone blew up all my creations.
b-but I always play arbiter....[SUB] I suppose the blue one is ok then[/SUB];_;
Filthy hinge head. Does anyone know if Season 2 of Spartan ops is a definate thing or is it only if Season 1 is sucessful?
Respawn. Halo 3, 7-8 PM EDT
Hey guys I'm up for a game of halo add me on xbox live, my name is ozcelt
Meah, well my Halo 3 Co-op playthough fell through due to poor timing and schedule of most of us.
aw well, least we tried
aw well, least we tried
Not stopping me from doing a legendary run. And now I have a 24 pack of Yuengling to myself![h=3] [/h]
Somehow the idea of Crawlers doesn't really fit the Forerunners in my opinion. In a society that's so technologically advanced, wouldn't legged AI be obsolete? Why would you still need legs if you can make everything fly?
Well, Halo isn't known for logic. It's the 26th century and they're driving wide open jeeps around in warzones. So to every 'why' in Halo there is only one real answer: "It's much more fun this way"
The UNSC tech, a lot of it feels like it could be done IRL in the next 100-200 years.
The UNSC tech, a lot of it feels like it could be done IRL in the next 100-200 years.
Most of it feels like it's 20 years old to be honest. Many of the weapons and vehicles have a 80's or 90's vibe to them.

Lore wise today's weapons are more accurate and have longer range then the human guns in Halo.
The Covenant weapons are ridiculous in every way. [editline]24th June 2012[/editline] But fun as hell
Lore wise today's weapons are more accurate and have longer range then the human guns in Halo.
Admittedly they have some impressive magazine and recoil dampening tech though. Somehow they can compress 60 7.62x51 rounds into something that looks like a 20-rounder, and the MA5B has fairly small recoil. And of course the space tech.
The only gun that bothers me in Halo is the shotgun, it being pump action when we already have magazine loaded, automatic shotguns. The technology on the ground isn't that futuristic but the space technology is crazy, giant magentic guns and faster than light travel.
The tank was actually comparable to a 1950's tank I think, at least during that thread where somebody went on about halo technology in that discussion thread that started off well then just compared Mass Effect, 40k and other games to Halo.
The tech in Halo isn't on a realistic level for the time, but it does make for fun gameplay and interesting story so I don't really care.
Lore wise today's weapons are more accurate and have longer range then the human guns in Halo.
Actually lore wise the guns in Halo are superior to modern day guns, not by much but they are. The MA5B Assault rifle can fire 7.62x51 at 900 rounds a minute with pratically no recoil with a 60 round magazine. As mentioned in Contact Harvest, Private Jenkins was able to drop targets with ease at 300m. The SRS99 Sniper Rifle has an effective range of 1800m. The effective range of the BR55 is 950m. The M6 pistols fires 12x40 with little recoil and can be loaded with high explosive rounds. The only shit gun compared to modern guns is the Shotgun. The M808 had Titianium armour and it has a smaller shell than modern tanks but as technology progresses its probably just as powerful as a 120mm. Also how many tanks today can be driven by one person? I always assumed that the M808 is a sort of light tank to make it easier for the marines to deploy them. I would like to see some sort of heavy tank in the Halo universe. Also the kinect scan feature in Halo CEA implies there's tougher tanks out there in the UNSC. [thumb]http://www.halopedian.com/images/8/8b/Scorpion_Library.jpg[/thumb] In the end it all comes down to gameplay reasons. Im sure everything in Halo is better than modern technology in canon but that wouldn't make a fun game.

A Pelican couldn't carry a proper MBT.
The only gun that bothers me in Halo is the shotgun, it being pump action when we already have magazine loaded, automatic shotguns.
Pump-action shotguns still have some advantages, which is why many police forces use them.
Thats true, dont get why the shells load into the top though. Also what ever happened to these bad boys. [thumb]http://www.halopedian.com/images/6/64/F-99_CAP.jpg[/thumb] Never saw them in anything after ODST. [editline]24th June 2012[/editline]
There's always the Grizzlies from Halo Wars.
Weren't they some sort of custom scorpion made by Sgt Forge though? Nevermind, they are proper tanks but Forge customized them.
Because of the nature of the Halo plots, we never see full deployment of UNSC Air Force assets, but if we ever get a full battle game, I guarantee we'll see more of the drones and craft like them. I mean, FUD, POA and IAC had no reason to be carrying them, and Reach had its primary air powers overwhelmed by Covenant forces incredibly fast. Earth was a bogged down war resembling Vietnam for awhile there, and ground forces were at a stalemate for quite some time (mostly because the Covenant only made a permanent presence in Mombasa and Voi), so it makes sense that they had air power.
[thumb]http://www.halopedian.com/images/6/64/F-99_CAP.jpg[/thumb]
I have to say those are some of the coolest drones I've seen but does anyone else see the resemblance to the Sabre?

There is little chance that a cannon like that can knock out a modern MBTL like Challenger, T90, or Abrams without APCR. And I doubt it has much of those in store given the size of the tank. [editline]24th June 2012[/editline] By today's standards its a russian IFV

If they have a man-portable antitank laser I'm sure they have better tank shells by now.

As Zezibesh said, magic pixie dust. If they have man portable lasers and rail guns why is the idea of a more powerful shell smaller shell so unbelievable. And besides weve already established that its a light tank ment quick deployment using pelicans. I think a Grizzly could handle a modern MBT. I was disappointed with Reach on Tip of the Spear because it looked like it was going to be such an intense battle but then it turned into "ok we drive off to the side and miss all the good bits"
with halo 4 i hope they make the marines that accompany you not completely useless
Plasma Rifle for shittiest feeling gun in Halo 2 Beam Rifle comes in at second, while the SMG is at a close third
