Every weapon has a very useful feature in Halo, if you are having issues with such weapons you are using them wrong, especially the plasma pistol.

Not saying its entirely useless, just sucks at killing stuff, the plasma pistol in Halo 2 was nothing compared to what it was in CE, Its good for breaking shields with the overcharge but other than that it had horrible damage.
Plasma rifle was fairly useless in Reach, plasma pistol wasn't that useful apart from noob combo before Halo 3.

Covenant Carbine is a million times better than the Battle Rifle. You have many more effective shots (unless you are one of those people who manages to headshot three grunts with one BR burst).
