This game sounds so fun. Is the winner the one who amasses the most units or the one who uses tactics the best?
Kills.. you get points for destroying enemy units.
I was more talking about the strategic elements of the game. Does it favor large masses of units or superb tactics?
I was more talking about the strategic elements of the game. Does it favor large masses of units or superb tactics?
It favors who ever kills the most units. You use strategies to kill units.
I've played 25 games and masses of units aren't a strategy.
I've played 25 games and masses of units aren't a strategy.
How do you beat masses of units? I've yet to find a good way. Bombers only seem to damage one or two at a time, and even then they're ridiculously easy to counter if you have two or three AA guns thrown in the blob. Unfortunately, the games I have played have not represented what I expect is meant for the final game- the RUSEs are nice little tricks to play, but ultimately it comes down who makes the best unit combos, and who makes the most of them. Sure, someone who's really good with all of it could easily use them to win, but it seems to me like the maps, at least the 2 v 2 map in the demo, is way too linear to be able to do much strategic maneuvering.

But with some constant arty shelling and hit and run tactics with pumas my tigers were able to take over. Was a great battle we should do it again next time.
I just got back from another battle. He was so pissed that he sent 4 units of paratroopers to take my supply depots. He forgot about my radio silence, and ended up getting massacred, so he rushed his AA at me, alongside his infantry, and two bombers. I had 3 AA turrets, one M16 mobile AA, and 2 MG nests at major points. He was slaughtered, and it all happened in the last 2 minutes of the round. I beat him at about 1044 - 316.

Set up infantry in woods near selected ambush site. 2. Set up tanks next to it to simulate a weak defense force. 3. Have a flanking force hidden to the side 4. Make a luring force, and combine it with decoys to make a fake attack. 5. Have the fake attack retreat to the ambush point. 6. If you did the fake attack well, he will follow. 7. Make yourself look desperate, send bombers at them, verbally abuse the guy, that will simulate defeat. 8. When he moves to attack, move the flanking force well behind them and activate radio silence in the area. 9. When his troops reach the ambush point, move the tanks up a bit to engage. 10. Fall the tanks back to the ambush point, when the enemy gets there, they will be surprised but not defeated. 11. Use bombers and the flanking force to take them out, plus an offensive force you should have built up in the mean time.

AT and Medium Tanks are fucking amazing combined. owned the shit outta some guy a few minutes ago.
AT and Medium Tanks are fucking amazing combined. owned the shit outta some guy a few minutes ago.
They're all good, except when the enemy has some AT hidden in the woods.
Are you from Terry Pratchett?
No... Sure the characters were the innovation for the username but that's it.
I got a key even if I entered after the key giveout was over so there is still hope for the ones who didn't get one [editline]10:55AM[/editline] why didn't they include unranked matches, it's stupid to have to play ranked matches the first times around
taken it seems..
why do i have to wait 70 hours untill i get my key?
key
Thanks!
Thanks!
np key #2 taken..
also, are there trenches in this game? As in, can you dig in?
key #2 (was trying to get a key for my dad as his mail didn't seem to come but he ended up getting it so may aswell give these away).
Activated, thanks :v:
also, are there trenches in this game? As in, can you dig in?
no, but you can hide in forest and cities
why didn't they include unranked matches, it's stupid to have to play ranked matches the first times around
You're testing the game not playing to have the most wins or best k/d ratio.
I wish you could play against AI, don't like the idea of going directly into multiplayer, with barely any idea on how to play.
I wish you could play against AI, don't like the idea of going directly into multiplayer, with barely any idea on how to play.
The controls grow on you after 3 games.

That sounds like a very simple, viable strategy for repeated use against blobbed tanks and the such.
Yes. That sounds like a very simple, viable strategy for repeated use against blobbed tanks and the such.
Put more AT around the woods near your main base and you should be fine.
Yeah, I just remembered that AT guns were available this last match I played. I'll start using them more often. The problems i've seen so far-- 1. Cities are really small, they really need to be larger, and should DEFINITELY offer some sort of resource (or otherwise) advantage for holding them. Otherwise they're rarely used as ambush points. 2. The current 2 v 2 map is way too linear to offer much strategic variations, and the bases are situated such that it's pretty much impossible to flank them. 3. I HATE the fact that supply depots are limited. I suppose it's meant to stop people from turtling, but it does a pretty poor job at that considering the length of most games. All you have to do is expand to the first few depots outside of your base and bunker down. Wait for your enemy to spend all the money in his depots throwing stuff at your defenses. 4. Artillery, no matter how expensive or advanced in technology, should never be able to reach an opponent's base from just outside your own. Turtling + artillery spam has been a big problem from what i've seen in the beta. 5. I hate the fact that they only included a third of the nations in the beta. Not really a game problem, but I hate it. 6. Defenses like the Siegfried Blockhouse should either be much more expensive, weaker, or limited in number. At least on the current 2 v 2 map, they can be spammed way too effectively, considering how easy it is to build enough AA to take on any number of planes.
I think Siegfried Blockhouse are priced pretty well. I mean it costs 60 if you bought a MG nest and AA that would be 70 I think it works out pretty well. I do however wish the cities had more use to them. They are very well detailed. I barely ever see people supply depots far from their base. Most of the time the game ends too quick by that time.
I dunno I find the game well balanced so far, everything can be countered easily for instance this idiot in a game I played kept spamming those experimental jumbo tanks and all I did to kill them all (and get like 300 points from it) was to stack 5 AT guns in a forest (which by the way cost me 5 each, whereas each of his tanks cost about 60) or this other guy sent a huge ass unit blob, with a counter for about everything, I used hidden AT guns to take out his mobile AA and bombed the shit out of the rest of the units god damn I love this game
Just so everyone knows. Fileplanet is giving beta keys away. Don't even need a subscription.
