Aw man, looks like we're moving away from WW1. I was kind of hoping for one o' them fancy-schmany water-cooly point-n'-shooties.

Mother fucker he just ruined the game. Now shit's going to be far too mobile, no one's going to bother digging in or anything, and it's just going to be a run and gun deathmatch game where you can destroy blocks (but have no practical reason to except for getting over walls). If he would have made emplaced guns the game's quality would have shot up dramatically, but this is about the worst thing he could have done.

I watched the videos, and it seems the SMG's accuracy is terrible at long range. I could be wrong though.

Wow, chill down guys. The guy is doing all of this in his free time, he is listening to the community. And if most of the players want something he tries to add it, he can't just leave an unfinished game because 20 percent doesn't want something new. Some will disagree with me, but oh well. We all prefer different shit.

No ironsights or less damage to offset the fact that you can just spray. They could make it a close range ambush weapon only I suppose.

Also, don't climb up the steepest hill you can find. Autoclimb took away huge chunk of strategy. It was more realistic when you avoided steep hills too. EDIT: Also, why SMG instead of shotgun, I don't even.

The standard rifle does perfectly fine at close range, the SMG has a bit if medium-long range capability (I've tested it and been able to hit what I was aiming at up to fog distance), effectively removing the role of shotgun/pistol while also being more than just a one sided weapon. I used to only want a mounted machine gun, but most of people I have met who play this game are idiots. Then I wanted a light/medium machine gun (more "light" though, I use the M249 skin for the SMG). We received the SMG, not what I had hoped for, but I will still deal with it. Also, how old are you? Have you played any shooters that are older than, say, Call of Duty? Please do correct me if I'm wrong but, I'm pretty sure Call of Duty was not the only first-person shooter game to throughout history feature an automatic weapon... Just seeing that, I doubt you've played the pre-released version of 0.53. Plenty of machine-gun bunkers and mountaintop fortresses still remain. Hell, the SMG has caused me to remember what I loved about the original randomly-generated maps. I also took the enemies intel via tunneling while two other team mates provided a well-planned distraction. After reaching the surface, I turned around, sprayed a few rounds into the enemy bunker with my SMG, then took off. Three-man squads with one machinegunner (or four man squads with two machinegunners) work wonders when used correctly. But hell, if you don't want to play, don't.

Sorry to disappoint but, 0.53 won't be coming out today (I don't think at least). After some testing, there seems to be a serious issue with lag after the sixth player joins the server, no matter which server you are playing on. Even with less than six players, the lag is still pretty bad. Also, there seems to be a problem with the hit detection now (since it seems to be server side), that's going to need a bit of fixing. The good news is that the SMG is awesome lol. It is pretty inaccurate, but short controlled bursts of fire work fine, even at long ranges. Anyway, you can still download the pre-released 0.53 here: [url]http://dustybrow.com/aos/aos053install.msi[/url] Test it out for yourself, check out the SMG. I have good news guys. The SMG is pretty balanced, in my opinion. It has alot of recoil, which means you won't be able to spray it, and it takes a bit of skill to handle (like the rifle). It sucks at longrange, it's a bit meh at medium range, but it's very useful at close range. I managed to play with Ben in a server, and it was pretty awesome.
