ACE OF SPADES 0.54 IS OUT NOW!
Yeees, but COD is the worst possible example I could find. Drama needs to be done properly.
I find the worst shooter I've ever played to be the first Delta Force game, from 1996.
It was praised at the time for its awesome graphics and gameplay, and the voxel-based maps were certainly incredible, but crawling around with an invisible gun shooting baddies consisting of five polygons gets old after about 30 seconds.
My only problem with the SMG so far is that it destroys blocks way too fast
I actually like that. It's really intense when you are behind cover, hoping you haven't been seen, when the wall you're hiding behind suddenly gets teared down.
Haha, spent what felt like a half hour trying to track down a blue guy digging deep beneath me. Felt so satisfying when I finally found the long tunnel he was digging and had his back in my rifle's sights, completely oblivious to me being behind him. :v:
Okay, the machine guns are hillariously fun. Inaccurate at about 100ft, but fucking hell are they fun to d-day a bunch of greens with. Now all we need is a scoped rifle, and artillery gun emplacements!

Just make a scope yourself and scratch one off of the list.
I cannot into AoS.

Never mind, fixed it by screwing with resolution settings and setting them to my default setting.
My new favorite tactic: sitting on the CP tent in the aloha US west hallway server while spraying SMG rounds at anything that moves, as long as it ain't the same color as me. That shit is hella fun lol, get like three people on there with you and the CP turns into a god damn battleship.
Camping in the CP and getting instahealed while being shot at is an asshole-move to pull :s. That's why I think there should be a delay.
Getting some crazy ass rubber banding going on in .54
Where do I find mods for this game? I tried the OP but there wasn't any.

Falling through the floor, so much.

MY CHILDHOOD!
Seriously though, that game was amazing, especially for 1996. If it wasn't for that game, we'd never have Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising, made by the same folks.

I ran into that game a few years ago. I cried when I understood that all weapon models are sprites/flat textures.
also how do I install mods ???
I seriously hope the people that gave up on the game because of the SMG, to not ever play again.
Does the SMG have a range dropoff, or just an accuracy limit?
Not a criticism either way I'm just curious because I can't play right now.

So that was you? That was fun

It's a very low-damage/accuracy weapon that has ungodly recoil. It doesn't seem to instakill on headshots, either.
Anyway, I am done with my reskin, would anyone be nice enough to get me a sound worthy of a lasgun Hellgun?

I wouldn't call it a accuracy weapon. Even in close-range, firing controlled bursts, it can be very innacurate. If you pay attention, you can see the bullet does not fire straight even if you single shot, crouch, aim down the sights. The SMG is basically a cover-fire weapon.
The SMG is basically a cover-fire weapon.
With such recoil it would best be an Anti-Air weapon.
The SMG has crazy recoil, it can be used to supress fire and help a little bit in firefights but the crazy recoil and huge inaccuracy makes it almost useles at long ranges, hard at medium, not that bad at short range if you can deal with the recoil.
The rifle will remain as the primary weapon I think.
how do I install custom weapons that I downloaded?
3 smg rounds to head kills the person THREE SHOTS TO THE HEAD ONLY KILLS WITH A 9 MM BULLET.
Caps, go on.
this seems like a careful addition. if it's _that_ inaccurate maybe it'll get buffed in the future?
and yeah ROF is really fast, destroys blocks like nothing else if you get close enough
I'm surprised Ben managed to get the SMG balanced with the rifle. The SMG is a great addition, when you are ingame you can hear bullets fly around you and see cover being blown apart. Ben, i am proud.
Also, a small tactic:
The SMG is a great gun for supressing the enemy, you need to get a buddy, or more, that has a rifle and you use the SMG. You can then lay down some supressing fire while your buddy lines up his headshots. It has proven to be a great tactic to me.
How does adding an SMG to Ace of Spades equate to "no more digging in and fortresses"? Just seeing that, I doubt you've played the pre-released version of 0.53. Plenty of machine-gun bunkers and mountaintop fortresses still remain. Hell, the SMG has caused me to remember what I loved about the original randomly-generated maps.
Because that's the natural progression of warfare; when you give every infantryman a purely offensive capability the trenches and bunkers start becoming too costly and useless to build since they will be quickly overwhelmed. When all there was was rifles and grenades you got a happy medium, and really the entire game should be centered around defensive gameplay because that would make it unique. Things like submachine guns only quicken the pace and make offensives easier, making defense in depth redundant.

If the SMG is as bad as people make it out to be right now maybe not all is lost yet, but i'm sure it will be tweaked in time.
There is still lots of defending going on. It's just more actionpacked now.

Play with the SMG yourself and then say that again
