Unfortunately, the vote has been rigged by someone who keeps voting for the sniper rifle. It's been brought to Ben's attention and will most likely not be counted (as just about no one wanted a sniper rifle anyway).
Also, there is now an AoS news thread ([url]http://ace-spades.com/forums/topic.php?id=3607[/url]) that will be updated every Sunday with the latest info. As of right now, the juiciest bit of information that we have is an excerpt from Ben himself:

I love how he pretends to listen to the community even though a majority of it wants the game to go in a completely different direction that he wants it to.
Indeed, at this time he should focus on developing the game his way and listen to community on stuff they want to improve, not features to add. Community features and ideas will have enough space later.
For example, making higher resolution models so modders have more freedom was a good community guided improvement (and probably autoclimb too, though I'd still like config option for that). New weapons, not so much.
So I have to repeat myself: Ben is [i]not[/i] a good dev. Game used to be a lot better than it is now, and I'm not talking only about SMG, cone and crap hit detection.
Thing is, guys - he's making a game for himself. Not you. Not because it's free or that he hates you. Because he has a concept for a game, and he really wants to realize it. You guys are simply stomping on his own dreams and ambitions, even if I do want the game to develop in a different way.

I just went through so much shit after going across the map, having to dig underground for miles for their intel, and then had to kill about 5 guys without dying on the way back.
Then I'm almost back to base with only 2 health left and I fall like 3 blocks and it kills me. I worked so hard and now I'm depressed.
Also the SMG is fucking useless. I think the recoil is fine if they would just increase the damage but because of the crappy damage on top of crappy recoil, you're better off with the rifle even at close range.

The SMG is alright, I've gotten a lot of kills with it in tunnels and shit, mainly because people panic like fuck when they see someone spraying an SMG.
SMG's got me really scared at first, but now I know nothing can happen and it's just as easy as shooting builders.
I'm disappointed that the sniper rifle has the most votes for a new weapon considering the current rifle basically functions as one but without a scope.

The sniper doesn't really have that many votes, someone cheated with voting. I think Ben already knows.
If you know how to make a bunker you can easily make an SMG Burst Fire post... What I would like to see is FRB(Forward Resupply Bases). You would require about 5x5 to 10x10 piece of flat land, and constructing it would require 100 blocks to construct, but it'll benefit the team in the front line.
Actually... Add the ability to make field gun/bunker posistions with the same concept.
I was dissapoint when I saw that sniper rifle and shotgun had far more votes than the MG. The rifle is essentially a sniper rifle and the SMG plays the role of a shotgun as well.

Because it doesn't, duh.
But uhm, if the Shotgun is an instant kill in close range, Ben should change the accuracy of the SMG to be better at medium range and the rifle to be dominating at long range.
Next weapon needs to be a bazooka.

Mines that worked one block under the surface might be cool. you could dig a hole, place it, then bury them.
Flamethrower would be an amazing weapon. Holy shit it'd be awesome if the flames navigated through tunnels. It'd be easy to hurt yourself and the user would have the tank on their back, exploding whenever shot.
Either Flamethrower or some kind of propelled explosive would be my vote for the next weapon. We already have two perfectly fine ballistic weapons, it'd be nice to see something unique.
How about artillery guns...? Make a 2x2 placement like the tent, and a player can enter the artillery gun, and do cords to drop shells.
If they put in a shotgun it should be a secondary weapon since close quarter combat is a rarity in this game so having only it and no other weapons puts you at a disadvantage.
Or at least give the SMG more power so that it beats the rifle at close ranges because right now, SMG loses against the rifle in any situation.
I either want the AR, the MG, or a sidearm.

I got the game installed, but every time I try to connect to a server my browser just follows the link without launching the game. I'm running Ubuntu, but not a single solution on the web that I've tried has worked.

Yeah, that's how shit the game is right now.
Since custom maps I never catched anyone holding blocks in their hands.
Get sniper rifle out of that vote.
The game doesn't fucking need them.

I really want them to bring back the old detection and networking. Current ones are painful and are impossible to play with.
Also: BOOMSTICK IS NEXT.
I think that this game would be a bit more fun if they reduced the amount of damage dealt to blocks by the guns (not completely remove, just lower). Currently if someones hiding in a building you can just spray it with an SMG until it falls down, however lowering the damage to blocks would create more of a rock-paper-scissors sort of strategy.
Digging tools beat blocks - however you need to be really close to use them, making you vulnerable
Blocks beat weapon fire - so buildings actually provide some defence
Weapon fire beats people digging - because they have to be vulnerable to attack buildings
I think it would help balance the game a bit more and also mean making defences and bunkers more useful again (people still build them but not as much as when the game first started getting popular)
