Yeah, i don't like OFP2 too much... just played it.
I haven't played ARMA 2 for a long time, did some patch came out?
There have been several patches. Most control issues have been fixed, like the smooth mouse. And if you don't like the independent arm and screen movements, you can disable that aswell. Performance is also far greater now than in the early days. I havn't had a crash in ages.
I heard this game includes good AI, ragdoll physics, etc.. They were the reasons I didn't buy ARMA II.
Is OP 2 better than ARMA II?
MP system SUCKS ASS. It's a goddamn lobby system where you have to wait unless everyone is ready or owner starts the game. A real pain if you want to play on 32 man server.
Well actually, ranked 32player servers get filled up pretty quick!

They aren't good reasons to not get a game.
The AI are actually pretty good in ARMA 2, I've only come across a few minor mishaps with them, but never anything game-breaking.
The ragdolls would have made the game run even worse, because of all the physics going on. The death animations are exceptionally good too.
I haven't played OFP 2 yet, but from what I've seen, it looks like a kind of mix between ARMA and a Battlefield game, but leaning more toward the seriousness that ARMA had.
Hahaha.
The mission editor in OFP2:DR is fucking terrible. It's basically pick a scenario and place units. It lacks the fidelity of a true mission editor, like the one in ArmA 2, which allows you to script functions and create much more indepth missions.
Couple this with the fact that it's nigh impossible to mod anything on OFP2:DR, I don't see this game hanging around for long at all.
Okay, played it... thought it was decent. Though I didn't see any scripted AI... maybe I'm wrong. Can be a little boring sometimes. But I found it funny in the firefights! I'll give it a 8.5/10.
Haven't tried the Mission editor yet, though I will. (Maybe)

Well it depends on your expectations. ARMA II is the real deal, while OFP 2 is more mainstream.
Don't get me wrong, it is quite difficult for the regular COD or BF2 player, but it won't break you like ARMA would (and I say that in a good way).
I'd say that the AI in ArmA 2 is better than in OP2. For one, ArmA AI can drive, which OP 2 AI have a real hard time doing. But at the same time, both games AI have a habit of running out of cover and get shoot.
sigh... I'm disappointed. It's not a bad game, but it's not Operation Flashpoint.
True, I find it fun to play, but not in a Flashpoint kinda way.
I have yet to try this.
But my system is pretty old, I'm going to wait for the demo.
Does it have split screen co op on the xbox?

Negative

Then I see no point for a console purchase. Thank you.
I was under the impression the editor is PC only, is that correct?

Affirmative

Uh huh.
Everyone keeps on dying fucking gunships and fucking time limits
aaaaaaaargh
This is actually a lot more fun then Arma for me. The missions are just so well polished and balanced that it makes arma's campaign look like total shit. I haven't done much with the editor, but it looks to be more complicated, as well as able to actually place bunkers and buildings...something arma's cannot. Oh yeah, and it's incredibly well optimized. I'm going to convince my friend to give it a try.

I think you can place buildings and bunkers in Arma. I've built some base using the Arma II editor filled with those tents and what bases usually have. I'm not sure if you can place those giant concrete buildings though. If that's what you're referring to.

I don't have OFP2 yet, but you can place fortifications and some structures in ArmA and ArmA2's editors.

Arma isn't about the single player campaign it's more like bonus content to go along with the awesome multiplayer and editor.
It did have an interesting first few missions though. Saving civilians, uncovering war crimes, knocking out armour with a laser designator and strangest of all, shooting skeet on an aircraft carrier. From what I hear though, the mission structure starts to pall once you get past the initial invasion.
So is this more arcady than the other ArmA/OFP games?
Correct. It isn't arcade enough to be compared with the BF series or COD for example, but it is quite different from ARMA.
Just incase hasn't been posted, type these codes in game and get 2 missions unlocked, though there pretty bad and very basic.
OFPWEB1
OFPWEB2
I can't believe they use the Operation Flashpoint name for this, I am very dissapointed. Yea its an ok game, but still not Operation Flashpoint :(
god I was supposed to get a copy a week ago! I was hoping to review this early.. i guess not. :crying: :crying: :crying:

Does it run better than ARMA2?
This is pretty sweet on Xbox 360 also, if anyone was wondering. Great controls.

That makes two of us then.

Well, the next mission is cool, where you're pushing into the capital to assist allies - has a whole awesome sniper/counter-sniper part. And the mission after is also pretty cool, because you're basically heading around trying to capture the head of the Chedaki whilst uncovering evidence of their crimes.
