Still, you don't slack in one area.
Hope they include a map editor so you can do you realistic stuff and I can do my crazy ass missions.
-32 player (16 vs 16) in addition to the 256 NPC squad members (8 per squad per player)
I jizzed in my pants. 256 npcs is going to be FUCKING AWESOME I AM SO GODDAMNED PUMPED I LOVE MASS AI IN FPS HELL YES.
Like the one shown in the ego video? Better if they make a VBS-style 3D editor.
Like the one shown in the ego video? Better if they make a VBS-style 3D editor.
Like the crysis sandbox editor? Don't know what VBS means.
VBS is the professional military version of OFP by the Australian branch of BIS. It has more features over the civilian game but it's insanely expensive. (Not including the addon modules custom developed for clients.)
Haha, the civilian game. Basicly the optimized one.
Also, I find it strange that Marines are using the Navy's MH-60S Seahawks like in Battlefield 2 instead of using their own (and more modern) UH-1Y Venoms. I guess they were too lazy to model them or more people can identify the S-70 helicopters better.

Helicopters aren't guns.
Hope theres a mission when your in a airplane and you all jump out in the darkness and AA guns shooting up at everyone and your like "PEW PEW PEW" and land in shit creek and you got to regroup everyone and raid the town.
Except that doesn't happen anymore
Helicopters aren't guns.
Then I'll go with a blackhawk.
Looks damn cool. Will buy
This game is going to kick ass.
I hope its as good or better than the first one because I loved that game. Until I play the game I always have doubts because games just dont seem to be as fun now er days
I'm gonna buy both of them just to compare. I think that OFP2 will be like a more realistic CoD4, while ArmA 2 will still have the same gameplay as ArmA and OFP1, but with better graphics and hopefully better animations. I reckon that OFP2 will feel much more solid, with less bugging about and shit, but ArmA 2, I bet, will be more realistic.

OFP1 was Bohemia Interactive, and OFP was published by Codemasters. BIS went on to develop ArmA, which is pretty much the same as OFP, gameplay wise, and are now making ArmA 2. OFP2 is now being developed by Codemasters because they still have the name.
here's the difference between ofp2 and arma2: ofp2 will be tolerable enough to play arma2 fanboys (tac error, this means you) - get the fuck out because nobody cares about what you have to bitch and moan about. all you are doing is trolling. i bet you're going to argue about how ofp2 is being made for casual gamers, too, which is the route everyone takes when they realize they are an idiot and cling to the remnants of dignity they have left (or lack of). let's keep in mind that casual gamers are the gamers that count because they are the majority. if you want to play arma2 with the ten people that will, go ahead, but don't bring your stupidity to other games just because they have muzzle flashes instead of smoke. you know that when codemasters say that "ofp2 will be a realistic experience" they are talking about requiring teamwork and massive amounts of explosions to get the job done, just like arma2 does. the only difference arma2 has with ofp2 is that arma2 is made by a company which the tactinerds support while they think ofp2 will be a sham simply because it's a "stolen name" and don't even try to bullshit yourself because you know arma2 is the same exact piece of shit as the first with new (or should i say grunge-brushed) textures

You're wrong
Then again both games are all developed for the consoles as well.... So I don't know, this might be interesting.

If ArmA 2 has grunge brushed textures, how did they do the camo patterns on the infantry? Anyways, the PLA just switched to a new digi-camo pattern. It would be nice to see this implemented, as they originally texture mapped the Marines with woodlands in the beginning before any videos were shown.
Most definitely looking forward to this; BIS had their go at making a sequel, now Codemasters turn. Frankly I'm generally underwhelmed by what BIS have come up with, each game really doesn't look that different from its predecessor and doesn't really offer enough extras that the big move to port over content seems worth it. Of course, that said, I am really happy with how true to the original OFP 2 is shaping up to be. I'm without a doubt in my mind that Codemasters will release a full SDK for OFP 2 far faster than BIS ever released Oxygen (of which they never released the full version of for OFP) or Visitor (Jeez how long did that take)
I'm gonna have to pick this up for my PS3, since my PC can't run it worth shit no doubt. I sure hope it will support K/B+Mouse controls.
Realistic FPS for consoles? I hope that's true.
Realistic FPS for consoles? I hope that's true.
I can't imagine how playing realistic fps on gamepad sticks would be good
I can't imagine how playing realistic fps on gamepad sticks would be good
I don't see what realism has to do with your gamepad. Last I checked, a mouse with keys isn't realistic at all.
Having finished watching the tech demo video I can say without a doubt this is what I (and I think us all) wished the sequel to OFP was going to be, after five years of waiting. Shaping up to be the military version of SWAT 4
The original Ghost Recon 1 for Xbox was pretty realistic and it used a controller.
I hope things have become a little more fast paced this time around (I'm not talking about CoD "cram 30 minutes of war into 1" style approach) because although the first game was good, it just took too long to do anything and I lost patience with it.
