They shouldn't have used the Operation Flashpoint name then, it's misleading to those expecting a Realistic large scale warsim/FPS. Infact, using the Op Flash name feels like a cheap tacky attempt to garner attention. They could've left it at "Dragon Rising" and branched off themselves without leeching off the name of a great game.
Look at the American Godzilla movie. People will just slap a semi-famous/famous name on a game JUST to get it to sell.
Wait what? no cdkey? All the pirates can play online??
Holy shit
For anyone on a 64 bit OS who can't run the Mission Editor: Download "vcredist_x86.exe" (third download from the top) on this page. Alot of people over at the steam forums were complaining about this, and the previous file fixed it for both them and me.
ArmA 2 looks like it'll be better but I've got my eye on this game.
Ironic statement of the century.
in my opinion Arma 2 is better, well seeing as i have had more cooperative coops and PvPs, that said OFP 2 is fun, but online is just alot of people running and gunning.... but that's just me
Wait what? no cdkey? All the pirates can play online??
Too bad windows vista, and windows XP magically don't seem to see the same servers
Too bad windows vista, and windows XP magically don't seem to see the same servers
Yeah, Codemasters has quite a job for patching ahead of them if they want to keep this game up and running. Atleast we know they haven't abandoned the game, as they promised DLC each month I believe.

Whether it was Prototype's "Multiplayer" or a simple false statement in an advertisement. The fact of the matter is, they "lied" about something that's subject to opinion anyway, it isn't like they said they'd have X item and they didn't. They said it was going to be a fully realistic shooter, and though it may not be as realistic as others, it's sure as shit more so than a hell of alot of other games.

The visuals aren't just crude, they're abysmal -- plenty of PlayStation 2 games offer graphics that outclass what's on display here. And in terms of pure content, this game offers so unbelievably little -- you can trudge through the whole thing in roughly two hours -- that it's nearly incomprehensible that this sits on the same shelf (with the same asking price, no less) as "Devil May Cry 4."

Personally, the HDR lighting with the SUN, 24 Day cycles, and the Full moon, no moon effects look amazing. Also, DOF from the iron sights look sweet.

HDR lighting from the sun has been in most decent engines for the past 3-4 years, 24-hour day/night cycles are nothing new, infact, they're fucking old, and the DOF is also, old, and personally poorly implemented.
Just played it, it lacks the authenticity of ArmA. But in terms of gameplay, it's a bit smoother and tactically, it's much easier to do maneuvers that you want. For instance, in ArmA, it's tricky to get your soldiers to actually suppress the enemy. Here they do, although they have a tendency to suppress through you.
is there a demo yet?
is there a demo yet?
To get into this game, you have to play it for awhile, I don't think a demo would do very well. It was after 3 hours of hardcore mod in this game is when I really started loving it.

Of course it's nowhere near as good as ArmA, but it's obvious from playing it that it's not the scale ArmA tries to accomplish. Operation Flashpoint 2 is more of a CoD 4 on overdrive than something like the full-scale conflict simulator that ArmA aims to be.
Does anyone else think the mission where you have to defend your spot in the town against the guys coming from the airfield is impossible?
Does anyone else think the mission where you have to defend your spot in the town against the guys coming from the airfield is impossible?
No it's not, it's just unless you can't trust the faggot AI to hold their sectors. What I did was setup my AI individually behind rockgroups out in the forest to the south to fight off the infantry and then I jumped on the Chinese MG position that faces the south road. Do NOT put your AI team members on the gun. They cannot use emplaced MGs worth a shit.
Yeah, that's an issue. But also, it may just be me, but this game seems to suffer from a lack of immersion. I just can't get into a tactical mindset, because I can't focus and don't have awareness. I'm not sure if it's just the feel of the game, or the POV/FOV that always feels like I'm watching a movie.

If I could have OP2's fluidness with ArmA, I'd be in heaven.
You mean for close quarters, or just in general?
Close Quarters is what kills ArmA's special ops missions for me. It should feel like an extension of my arms and hands, not a broken stick held together with tape.

We got to the point where we learnt how to get into a room and down our walls fast, this was done by holding down the jogging/shift button and letting go as you pivot into your respective corner. Unfortunately, ArmAII raped this method in the ass with the new running animation which has way too long strides.
Yeah, what's up with that anyway. Do Czechs lack knee's?
Yeah, what's up with that anyway. Do Czechs lack knee's?
Lol no idea, I guess they wanted to try a new animation set. But FFF I want my ArmA1 slow jogging back.
So I bought it. And I think it's really quite good. Rate me dumb, you know you want to.
