Man I'll be loving this game so much. Let's just hope we'll have driveable A10 Warthog, M1A2 Abrams, AH-1W Super Cobra.
Abrams is in it :D im so syked for that, thy said 50+ vehicles so maybe
I gathered that lol, it just annoys me how he got pissed at some other dude ( i agree that guy did bullshit about being a military contractor) but then he basically carried his annoyed rage through the thread and placed on people because they have an opinion i different to his.
Anyway...
I was reading about the scale size of the map and it should crazy,
something like a 250kilometer map scale
would take:
*days to run it
*about 5 hours to drive it or something
*an hour or 2 in a chopper
*15 minutes in a jet.
That is crazy, I'd be happy if that was the only map because there is so much on it, that you'd find somany new things.
Longest point is 250kms
It would take approximately 5 days to walk through it, 4 hours to drive through, 1 hour for a helicopter, 14 minutes with the fastest jet.

ArmA has 170ish.

Thats a long time.
That OFP2 pic is pre-rendered so it isn't ingame.
OFP2 looks like BF2 and Bad Company without bloom.
Ok lets go with non pre rendered shall we?

Just nit-picking a bit, but shouldn't camouflage you know, camouflage you? The soldiers and vehicles always stick out like beacons.
If you're talking about in the pictures, it's because they're a couple feet in front of the camera.
Besides, camo is supposed to make you harder to distinguish from the background, not impossible. And if I remember right, it's supposed to do so by breaking up your pattern.
I will definitely be trying the demos of both Arma 2 and OFP 2. Having played both, I thought the original OFP was better... but this is definitely a competition. Whichever one has the most realistic gameplay (AKA SIMULATOR, NOT GAME) will be my purchase.

MARPAT (the US marine camo pattern) is supposed to be at least slightly functional at all ranges, and judging by the OFP2 footage it doesn't help a soldier hide at any distance, as if it were just for show.

It probably is just for show.

Sharp, crisp, realistic textures with good lighting. Not this overdone, overly dramatic, generic looking texturing.
Oh damn, Arma 2 has some sexy looking textures.

For some reason (either my monitor or the lighting) is making the MARPAT look like ACU.
Oh yeah! The Mi-24 has its famous cockpit fan!
@ the guy who posted ArmA2 screenies: Those aren't even the latest screens from ArmA2, so it speaks volumes when Bohemia Interactive can produce screens that aren't even the final product and still look better than OFP2's ingame crap. Also note BI didn't feel the need to fool everyone with shitty pre-rendered content.

Could you at least wait until the game is out to speak out of you know what.
These are more recent ArmA 2 screens:

The animations still look like shit, as well as the texturing and the handling of lighting.
Then again, ArmA isn't played for graphics.
It pisses me off when people think OFP 2 will be better than ArmA 2, as Bohemia Interactive Studio's website states: "Codemasters may have the Operation Flashpoint name, but Bohemia Interactive have the soul." Which is entirely true.

It still pisses me off when people say:
"OFP 2 will be shit just because they stole the name and Bohemia are making it."
Give it a rest, the game isn't even released yet. It might turn out great, or be a complete flop.

The animations look fine, infact Id argue that certain animation sets in ArmA1 trump most animations in mainstream games. As for the texturing and lighting? Well believe what you want to, but it certainly shits over OFP2's ingame screens.
ArmA 2 looks cooler with better graphics, but I don't trsut it's gameplay.
Played the demo on ArmA and aiming was terrible and effects boring.

Demo. You played the demo that came out about 17 patches ago.
Nothing a few mods can't fix!
Please, nothing has fixed the horrible animations in ArmA1. It's the shitty engine that's to blame.

No, ArmA lacks any detail in animation, and the animation system itself is horrible. When someone dies, the engine forces the animation to complete, even if it would cause someone to instantly keel over after it.
We'll see what Real Virtuality 3 will bring. Though the civilian anims are crap, we haven't seen any death animations (from all the videos I've seen) and I vaguely remember a Marine actually opening the feed cover on his M249 in one video.

Real Virtuality 3 just looks like the previous engines with things slapped on. I doubt any drastic changes were done to the games code, as you can take from hints in the games screenshots and videos.
