-snip- Depends what servers you go on
I think you should learn to map via source SDK. It sort of takes the magic out of playing it though... but if you want to wow the CS:S community with non fullbright ZM maps then, please by all means, do. I'm working up my skills to do such a thing... in eventual time
I've tried using Hammer for Gmod, but for some reason, I'm always halted by the fact that I can't see any texture what-so-ever in the camera window. (And yes, I clicked apply texture.) It's all just one big wire-frame mess.
HL2:DM is pretty fun from what I hear -- running around shooting toilets with the Gravity Gun at people.
Back in my day , it was clan matches between masters of HL2:DM who had their aim perfected and their bunnyhopping perfected. Now it's just a bunch of lamers and their puzzle and coop mods
CSS is ok. DoD:S is fun. HL2:Deathmatch ain't that fun.
Well there is one HL:2 DM server that is worthwhile: The Zombie server that pits players against npc zombies, Problem is it's just the highest score of zombie kills win. Not to mention people who can't be stuffed to buy more source games or download co-op mods will be on puzzle co-op maps.
Aye, CSS is good fun because of the wide variation of gamemods.
HL2:DM can be pretty damn fun if you're playing with friends. Otherwise the fucknut foreigners who don't speak English except for "eat my dick" ruin everything.
CSS worst mod ever, 1.6 ftw!

Well, you get to use all of the content in Gmod, play the maps, spawn the props, etc. It makes a world of difference.
Yeah, I know I'm pretty late for this but, unlike console games, you can actually modify/add things to the game's content. Like models, skins, maps, etc. etc. You can actually chose things that interests you and put it into the game. Or learn those things yourself and do it yourself instead of using other people's stuff. You probably already knew this but, just in case you didn't. ;)
and little kids on coop servers Things used to be a lot different in HL2:DM 2 years ago I can tell you that right now
Many of the servers around now are Coop and all that stuff, when I just want to play a normal deathmatch, was easier to find one of those servers two years ago. I used to be damn good in that game.
CSS is ok. DoD:S is fun. HL2:Deathmatch ain't that fun.
CSS is great. DoD:S is rubbish. HL2:Deathmatch is amazing.
I bought this last year for the models from CS. I already had HL2: DM (excellent game if you can get a good server), and I haven't really touched DoD: S. But CS: S by default is horrid, it's full of kids and idiots who think they are "~pr0~" for using guns like the AWP, then bitch at you for using it. But some of the custom gamemodes are pretty fun, Reverse gungame is pretty good.
DoD:S is the only game in that pack worth to be played
:ohdear: Wow, VALVe must have just released this as I've never seen it before.
CSS is great. DoD:S is rubbish. HL2:Deathmatch is amazing.
Bad taste in games.

The guy behind the counter should have warned you that this game will change your views on gaming forever. I've been playing since 05.
