I don't quite see the issue.
Blink is neccesary, especially against ursa and snipes if he initiates. There is not that much magic damage, except for earth shock and shrapnel/assassinate later on. He won't melee Ursa as Ursa wins there, and he is unlikely to melee Sniper with Ursa around and no reliable disable.
Silencer also covers a lot of manaburning if he got Curse of the Silent, so manaburn won't do much and Mana Void is also rather weak early on when there are no bigger mana pools around.
I would still get at least a point in mana burn for last hitting against the ranged creeps, and perhaps for harassing Sniper (seeing as he's squishy to begin with). I also think it's silly not to get Mana Void when you're with the other "fuck mana" hero in a lane. I know it's better later than earlier, but still, they could have set up some ganks on Sniper very easily.
I think the biggest problem was the no courier :v:

Or the five farm dependent heroes on both sides (besides arguably silencer and even then)

you said about that Ursa.
My guess is that Ursa scared them a couple times or so ? They just didn't want to risk it, and Mana Void early on is just weak against low int heroes.
Sniper at level 6 (purely base/growth) has around 400 mana. Mana void deals 0.6 times mana lack, let's say he is at 0 (rather unlikely), mana void deals 240 damage. Reduce that by 25%, you get 180 damage.
Yes, that's damage, but notice how that alone would't hurt sniper much, and Curse of the Silent/Last word give time to run. If sniper ran away to the tower and Ursa came in, they would either dive or go back.
Sure, they've forced sniper off the lane, but AM needs to focus on farming if enemy team has
pretty much 5 carries and with silencer around he can feel safe about himself.
That 1 point in manaburn isn't neccesary for last hitting if he is good at it or feels confident about himself and he is gonna grab it soon anyway for sure, before imporant engagements. With mana void, he might grab level 2 at level 11.
+He has 5 points skilled on the picture, but level 6 and no bonus stats taken (+3 is from branches), so I can assume he got mana void in case.
This is stupid, why is Centaur's ult still global? They need to change that already.

Yeah, the picks were pretty awful. I randomed and it just got worse from there.

I guess I see your point, then. I personally wouldn't build that, way, but I dunno. Anti-mage isn't my best hero :v:
I can see the rage in the Halloween event already.
"OMG stop hiting me, dont u guise want to get itemz?"

So I have a serious question for you guys, that I hope makes sense without being dickish or whatever.
Is it possible to play this game casually? What I mean by that is, I know there is a super steep initial learning curve that I'll have to overcome, to be honest I kinda look forward to it, but is it possible to be decent at this game without playing it constantly? I honestly don't have the time to play it every day, but will I be terrible without that dedication? Or will I get sucked in and fail out of uni?

I have nearly 400 hours in this game and I'm still terrible at it. Interpret that as you will.

I play once every 2-3 days, i'm better than my friend who im on equal footing in every other MOBA (he's played dota maybe, 6 times.) so you'll improve.

I usually just read guides when I have 10 minutes to kill on the bus or whatever and figure out "oh I should do this..." and just slowly build my knowledge. It's not fun to just cram all of this shit and prepare and train nonstop to be average at the game. Just learn from mistakes and you'll only have like 5 deaths per match on average if you just reflect on why you died.

It's more of a thing that some people naturally start better than others. Eventually you will become as good and pass the complete shit tier (assuming you start there).
So what's going to happen when the Radiant are strong again? Does everyone shit out flowers with bloom maxed out?
Dota 2 won't update at all, it's stuck at "Update required" :/

Apparently there is a truce between both sides when fighting roshan. Ultimates/attacks etc wont give u damage from the other team.
Shit this update looks nice.
So far, the game mode is really really fucking fun. You get at least two items every playthrough, and I've already gotten two rares (one of which I've been dying for, the Omni hammer that's gold and shit).
This is probably the most fun I've ever had in DotA 2.
I am really going to miss this mode when it's gone.

made me throw a bottle of water out my dooe, down the hallway and down the stairs
but then I opened my backpack and noticed like 10 new items, all of which were uncommon and I got a rare egg, the rage is worth it

They should keep it, and remove some Halloweenish stuff. And replace candy with something else. It's fun to see people actually work as a team and get more candy, and in the end take down Roshan.
fuck they added the ridiculous puppey hair... ugh
[editline]31st October 2012[/editline]
do regular queued games have the bloody river and stuff as the map?
What in the world comes out of these eggs?

*at least 1.
you're guaranteed 1 item for killing roshan but you need to work to get the most candies to get the 2nd item.

couriers???
This is some of the least fun I've had in Dota. I fucking argue less with my teammates in regular games when I actually have an idea of what the hell is going on.
